Basic talk used to be Awesome! Now you can't get a live rep. You can't even login if you no longer have email you set it up wit after 10 years. I email them called. Everything! Nothing. When you call it ask are you calling to cancel your service? If you say no. The phone goes dead 🤔 Got new card and, can't put in info. So, they shut an 86 year old Man's phone off. Who is in poor health. Ridiculous! Basic talk is a joke ! Straight talk you get live rep every time.and, don't need Internet Bye bye Basic talk lost a nother customer SMH . AND, NETSPEND IS ALSO TO BLAME ! LET HIS CARD EXPIRE. NEVER SENT NEW ONE. THEN WANTED US TO PAY 30$ BECAUSE, THEY FAILED TO SEND NEW CARD 😮 GET REAL ! THEIR ARE A LOT BETTER CARD'S OUT THERE THAT DON'T CHARGE RIDICULOUS FEE'S FOR BAD SERVICE

Please contact the FCC and let them know of all the problems with Basic Talk (which is Vonage). We did and its very easy to do. Once the FCC gets involved Vonage MUST respond to your query. Perhaps if enough people make a complaint something MIGHT change. Or if you are looking to cancel and need a refund, again, contact the FCC - that is the fire Vonage needs to get moving and get your situation resolved. Unfortunately, even AFTER contacting the FCC, Basic Talk (Vonage) just blows more smoke up your derriere and makes it as though your box and connection are suddenly the problem (not them). That, after all these years you now need to connect the box directly to your phone and that's why there are dropped calls repeatedly and garbled speech. NOPE, it's Vonage. And, as if you didn't already know, Vonage (BasicTalk) is ALL based in India, not the USA and Basic Talk has NO SUPPORT.

Is Basic Talk out of business? All of a sudden it won't connect to Grandstreams the first of this month. it is paid automatically for this month but the modem won't connect to the internet but it is set up right. no phone# to contact, no repsonse to e-mail. No one there?? I have had Basic Talk for several years with no problem until now..

I called support today to cancel one of the two lines I have through Basic Talk. Spoke to a man (Rajesh, in India) that could barely speak English. He refused to let me speak to an English speaking person and then canceled the number I wanted to keep instead of the number I told him to cancel. I called back on my other line to inform him of the mistake and he canceled the other line too. These people are criminals.

Not allowing call forwarding is a huge mistake! It makes the service virtually useless in this day and age. When I asked about it, they gave me some BS about keeping costs down. Then they actually suggested setting up the voicemail to give callers my alternate phone number! If I wanted people to call another number, I would give it to them in the first place. Ridiculous! On a side note, if you look at the actual reviews, you will see that there only 2 reviews that rank them above Poor since June of 2017. Meaning that since that time, over 95% of all reviews rate them as Poor or Bad.

Everything these reviews point out is entirely true. The service sucks. The calls drop. Your number can be hacked spoofed like it was a cell phone. This is xo/vonage that owns these numbers and they suck. They sell your personal info to Indian call centers to call you everyday to get scammed by them. Porting my number as far away as possible from basic talk.

In 2014, I signed up w/Basic Talk for $9.99/month. From 2014 to 2020 their rating was 5 stars due to good service, autopay & a user friendly website. However, from the Fall of 2020 until today, Basic Talk’s performance rates a 1 star. What happened? Every call drops! You either get a busy signal or dead air. If the other party calls you back it comes in on call waiting because you didn’t realize it dropped. This now ties up both the dead line & the new call. When people try to reach you, they can’t. When hanging up on the new call line, the dead line rings back to you. What a mess! They did send me a new box, however, the calls continued to drop like flies. The lady was polite but a bit hard to understand. She was in India 🇮🇳 so her English is a 2nd language. (I can’t speak Indian so I’m not complaining!) Going to cancel service, port the number I’ve had since 2005 & move on. Where, I don’t know yet. Oh, I’m also putting a block on my account with my bank after cancellation. Hope this review was helpful in deciding to use their service.
