I have had my two dogs on Banfield Wellness plan for over 2 years. I recently tried to cancel after being told I would receive a full refund as long as I had not used any benefits of the plan. I have not used any this year, and I was refused a refund for the 3 months I have paid. I have contacted my bank now to get the charges back and to file a fraud claim, and I would encourage anyone else with refund issues to do the same. Other problems with Banfield are they now want you to drop your dogs off for wellness checks so they can keep them in a cage all day and get to them when they feel like it. This is not acceptable, and not something I will EVER do, so I am treated rudely each time I tell them that I will only accept an appointment where I can be present. I am told every time that they “prefer” to have the dogs dropped off and they will call when the dogs are ready. I tell them every time that I will not be doing that ever, and then I am told fine, we can make you an appointment but you will probably have to sit and wait until the doctor is available. What a pile of crap! I pay a vet so I can give my input and hear their recommendations, and I’ll be damned if I’m going to leave my dog in a cage all day while he waits for his shots! I would not recommend this plan to anyone. They will continually try to get more money out of you, try to get you to sign up for more expensive coverage, tell you your dogs need things they do not need. The entire thing is a scam. Don’t do it!

Now 7 days and no response!! This is really bad!!! Dr. Karen K. Faunt, Vice President Banfield Pet Hospital 18101 SE 6th Way Vancouver, WA 98683 Dear Ms. Faunt I have had a very poor experience with three different Veterinarians at your pet hospital in Annapolis, Maryland. There performance has been extremely cursory and totally inconclusive. This is not the first time I have witnessed such performance. The vets often show up 20 minutes late to the appointment time while I wait and then conduct a 45 second physical. Over the past 3 months I have had my Portuguese Water Dog at this hospital for a skin problem. All three times, the examinations have been so superficial that they did not observe the obvious even when I pointed it out. The last visit I directed them to one large spot (pimple like) they finally shaved and removed it. All within about 5 minutes then reported to me that it was a cyst and that no other ones could be detected. Yet when I pet her, it is quite easy to find them and further she is sensitive to touching these multiple bumps. This in itself should have provided a clue. I mean Ray Charles could have observed this!! I call and I am told how important my issue is and that I get what I needed fast (total BS). Then while on hold, I am explained all the T’s and C’s relative to contracts when I am calling about a complaint. Well this just gives one assurance that all of this is total BS. later I find out that I am speaking with a stenographer who I typing out my complaint and that I will hear from sometime within the next 3 days. This sure is one idiotic way to handle a problem. Quality????? Don’t think so!! I am beginning to think that this entire company is nothing but a sham. Hugely inflated prices, multiple page reports and nothing but routine stuff included which all could be done by the SPCA. I’m going to end this diatribe now, but there is more. You will note that my phone numbers are listed above and that you should call me to discuss this on-going fiasco. The stenographer told me that she would not get a message to you to call me and led me to believe that it was an inappropriate use of your terribly busy schedule. I advise you to call me to discuss this situation and if not, I think you will wish you had taken the 10 or 15 minutes of your daily scheduled 4-minute increments of time. Banfield skokie IL is the worst. Receptionist and doctor are unprofessional and rude based on my experience. Unapologetic.....I do not recommend any pets going there.

Banfield in Royal Palm Beach FL SUCKS! The free coupon is a ruse. I took my ShihTzu there basically for flea med script, but wanted his ears checked and the check up they say you'll get. I mentioned the ears, but the vet was so busy talking about other things she never got his ears checked and now I'll need to go to another vet (I won't go back there) and get his anti fungal drops.But my main complaint is that when you re-order the flea meds from Pet Meds online Banfield won't have a standing re-order so you have to get their approval every f*&%ng time. So of course they won't just fax it when Pet Meds request it, you have to call a day them after you order, because Banfield won't respond to Pet Meds request. And the people who answer the phones at Banfield are stupid and rude. The kid who answers the phone at Banfield tells me when the doctor is on duty they will fax the approval. So I ask when that will be. She says when she is on duty and sees the request. I ask her if she's on duty today. She says yes, but she's with a patient. I ask if I can assume it will get faxed today. The kid will not confirm she will tell the vet to do it, or the vet will do her job without being told. THEY SUCK AND I'LL NEVER GO THERE, especially when I read how they've killed other peoples pets by their negligence.

I agree with a lot of the reviews on this site. I am not the person to blast a company and write negative reviews, however after this last experience with them I unfortunately feel the need to warn other people what type of service you are signing up for. If you plan to sign up for the 1st year of having your pet and getting there shots and fixed- this plan is worth it but cancel it after the 1st year. I kept the plan for 7 years and unfortunately am still stuck in this plan. My dog has battled allergies all 7 years and none of the doctors were able to get my dog any relief. Now my poor dog has cancer. We were told they are unable to treat my dog. I contacted Banfield to cancel my plan (after 7 years) being the doctor said they cannot treat my dog. I was told I cannot cancel in the middle of my services and I can only request for the plan to not auto renew in 2021. It doesnt matter if your pet dies, You cannot cancel only not renew next year. My dog has 2 months to live and I am told I have to continue paying this plan for another 9-10 months after that. Unbelievable- You think after 7 years they would care more about there customers.

Avoid Banfield! Banfield continued to charge me 8 months of payments for my "pet wellness plan" AFTER my dog was euthanized in a Banfield office! Unjustifiable. Heartless. Greedy.

For one of my dogs (Pretty - 11 yr chihuahua mix) I’m signed up for a Special Care Wellness Plan which cost about $75/month. As a part of wellness plan a dental cleaning under anesthesia is covered. A few weeks ago someone from Banfield called stated that Pretty was due for a dental cleaning. Initially I declined but she reminded me that it was covered under the plan and that the plan expired in March, so I set an appointment. Knowing it will be free from any additional charges to the wellness plan I am already paying for. Keep in mind that with the Wellness plan, blood work before the anesthesia WAS ALSO COVERED. It’s also important to note that Pretty has a heart murmur and has had it for a few years now. Banfield was FULLY AWARE of her condition. This morning after I dropped Pretty off, the doctors called and stated that because of her heart murmur she didn’t want to risk any bad reactions to the anesthesia. The doctor explained that there was possibility Pretty wouldn’t wake up from the procedure. But she said Pretty still had X-Rays on her plan so they would do those and I could pick her up and take her home. That made sense, let’s not risk for life to get her teeth cleaned. So when I arrive to pick Pretty up it was shocking to hear that I owed Banfield $136 for the pre-anesthesia bloodwork!!! The nurse at the desk stated that I signed paperwork sometime this morning stating that I would pay if they didn’t do the procedure for any reason. HOW MUCH SENSE DOES THAT MAKE? I’ve already paid for the bloodwork, anesthesia, and teeth cleaning but because it would risk her life I’m being penalized for a procedure I wasn’t even going to get done in the first place. Also why not listen to her heart before withdrawing blood! THIS IS EXACTLY WHY IM LEAVING BANFIELD!!! THEY NICKEL AND DIME EVERYTHING!! PLEASE BEWARE I’VE ALWAYS HATED THE WAY THEY DO BUSINESS! We are going to a locally owned Veterinarian from here on out! Please STAY AWAY ❗️❗️❗️

I don't write reviews really at all. I just want to get the word out there that you should not sign up a plan with this place. We had our dogs signed up for a wellness plan at banfield in Centennial, CO on University Blvd. The one vet just cares about trying to upsell you things your dog does not even need. We had a few problems there. First they took blood tests on our dog and she said she was concerned that it was cancer so we should do additional testing(which isn't included with the plan). We heard the word cancer so we set up another appointment to get it checked out. The vet who suggested this was suppose to do the visit we set up but ended up having to reschedule with another vet. When we got in there with the different vet we explained what the other vet said was going on and he looked at us like we were crazy. He said all of the blood levels and cell count looked fine and no additional testing needed to be done. He didn't know why the vet before would even say that. That same vet who tried making that initial diagnosis charged us $32 for a nail trim because she said they needed 3 people to hold my dog down so it cost more. Are you serious? $32 for a nail trim? Should have gotten a 30 minute massage added with that. The next problem was a mast cell tumor that they did a needle test and said that nothing was wrong with it and we didn't need to remove it. After all the problems we had going on with this place we decided to look for another vet. That vet suggested we remove the mast cell tumor and get it tested since it looked really bad. Once we get the results back we find out it is a very high grade tumor which was cancer. We canceled our wellness plan with Banfield and they tried saying it would cost us over $500 to cancel early. I told them that we don't trust you guys so why would we pay. Their response was ok it will just go to collections. Don't trust this place and don't pay them a dollar.
