Banfield Pet Hospital located on Churchman Road in Newark DE is a terrible place to take your dog. I’ve had issues with this location being short of doctors. I took my two dogs to get their teeth cleaned and they were kept in a kettle from 7:45am til 2pm prior to both dogs being discharged at 4:30pm. My husband had to pick up both dogs to put them in the car because they were still asleep from the anesthesia. Both dogs just slept for two days and did not want to eat. Banfield communicated that they were given a new anesthesia for the cleaning of teeth and it will wear off. I don’t really think they cleaned our two dogs teeth thoroughly because two hours after I called ro check on them they were being discharged. Secondly my female dog had a terrible infection. I called Banfield to see whether my female dog can be seen right away and the response received that I needed to wait 5 days for an appointment. I called another Banfield location and informed no appointments available and I would need to wait 4 days before getting an appointment. I had to take my dog to see another vet doctor who diagnosed my dog with a terrible infection. Glad I did not wait any longer because my dog infection could have worsen. This location books two many dogs to be seen in one day. I cancelled the wellness plans for our two dogs. Banfield was not concern about my dog Kimmie. I am going to post on Facebook and Twitter the terrible experience with Banfield. In additional I will be passing flyers around my neighborhood to inform our friends and neighbors not to go to Banfield.

My dog went in for a dental cleaning, they ended up not doing the cleaning because his liver enzymes were elevated. So, I got charged for the labs because he didn't use the whole package. We did a follow up test to see what is causing his liver enzymes to go up. It's been over a month and multiple calls later and the vet Dr. Reminisch has yet to return my calls about the outcome of the labs and what the next steps should be. She was so rude on the the phone. Every time I call she is never available, appointments are weeks out. So how can my dog get any sort proper care? Can't cancel because they screw you over with the plan if you do.

I understand companies have policies but to enforce that you still have to pay once you’ve experienced a loss only adds insult to injury. It’s as if Banfield thinks I’m lying. “We’re so sorry for your loss but we’re still going to charge you for the remainder of your policy or the amount of what services would be, whatever is cheaper”.

It's better you take your pet to a caring place that won't be neglecful. Several months ago, the payer to my contract with Banfield changed, and the rep there insisted that an additional file be made, causing two files. When I went to take my doggie to get his shots, they had administered the wrong shots and repeated what he had in his old files. I refused to continue with them because I also had a negative experience with their grooming department at the Yonker's location. I just did not trust them to continue because it was neglectful to not check the right file properly, and to simply take the file that had the same name, though each one had a different phone number. Overall, they are people who have an attitude, who do not care to make a difference with making you feel comfortable. It is hard not seeing exactly how your dog or cat is being treated when you are not in the back to see. I recommend people take the animal where you can see the treatment of your doggie or cat. My last experience, was when a Rep heard me say to a relative of mine that I do not trust Banfield, and Nicki answered at the Pelham location, " What did you say, you're being rude saying you do not trust it here, this is where I work. " She did not bother to ask why or to even reassure me that all would be well - they have poor customer service skills and do not have the work ethic that is conducive to the proper care of a doggie. Please note that I did try several times to try to remove myself from the contract, but they refused and forced me to stay with them, so of course, I had no choice but to make sure I get what I pay for.

I would like to warn anyone thinking about buying insurance from this organization to think again. Banfield are ripoffs and don't really provide much of anything. Lemonade has a much better rate and awesome customer service.

My dog had surgery this pass Friday. She went all of Saturday without doing her necessities. This Sunday morning I called to have her seen by the vet. The Banfield associate at the location were she had surgery told me she could not be seen today. Instead she recommended I take her to another Banfield hospital or to an emergency hospital.I then asked to speak to the vet just to get another associate telling me the same thing. I find this incredibly unprofessional and unacceptable. Not only could she not be seen, I could not even speak to the vet.

DO NOT EVER GO TO BANFIELD!! The contract does not end when your pet passes away. We will be paying over $500 this year for imaginary vet care for a dead dog. Please go ANYWHERE else.

This company is a complete sham and a fraud! I called during covid after my grandmother and uncle passed away and told them that I could not afford the monthly payments. I called to ask if they would put my plan on hold or work with me, instead they let the charges continue to accumulate. Today I found out they fraudulently reported this to the credit bureaus. I was never told upon initial sign-up that the plan could not be cancelled nor put on hold. I would have never signed up had I known this. Life happens and people have emergencies. A company with no opt-out clause is a company that should never be trusted. Not only am I NOT paying for a service I did not even receive, the fact that they were never willing to work with me and then reported. I am DONE will this company and will be filing a claim against them. Please save yourself the trouble and take your pet to a REAL vet.
