During a visit to Banfield Greenburgh…
During a visit to Banfield Greenburgh in 2022 Sasha was found to have an elevated alk phos level, the doctor instructed me to keep an eye on it. During her annual visit on 1/7/23 Sasha’s alk phos had more than quadrupled and was now >1900. Dr. Gordon prescribed a low fat diet, Denamarin and to return in one month to repeat labs. Dr. Gordon suggested that we should start with the least invasive treatment (diet and meds) if we don’t see an improvement then we would have a diagnostic ultrasound; I agreed and we scheduled a follow up appointment on 2/16/23. On 2/7 Sasha injured herself and was seen at an emergency room where her labs were repeated and alk phos was now >2000. I called banfield (as we had an appt already scheduled on 2/16 for repeat labs) and informed them that Sasha’s levels hadn’t improved with a strict diet and meds and that we should proceed with the ultrasound. I was told of the cost and received a callback a short time later that the tech was available on the 16th and to drop Sasha off at 0745. I arrive as instructed and drop her off, I was told that the tech would be there between 1030-noon and the doctor would call me immediately afterwards. I asked Jeanine (front desk registration) “Are you sure?” Because my visit in January was stained with a lack of communication, transparency, honesty, and professionalism (I can explain my concerns with that visit via phone call). I chose to return to banfield after that visit only because I received a second opinion that was in complete agreement with Dr. Gordon’s suggested plan of care. Jeanine assured me that Dr. Gordon would call post ultrasound. At 1209 I hadn’t heard from anyone (and was told the tech would arrive between 10-noon) so I called. Jeanine told me the Dr. would call me within 30 minutes; I again expressed concern because the last appt left me feeling unheard and without information and results that I’d paid for; again I was assured within 30 minutes I’d receive a call. I suggested that I could just come up there and speak to him in person and was advised not to and he would call shortly. By 1500…no call, I arrive to banfield apx 1515 ask for Dr. Gordon (he has now left the building on his lunch break). I ask to speak to a manager and I’m taken to Diane (manager in training). I explain my concerns dating back to the previous visit. Diane explained that indeed the ultrasound had been completed because “I helped hold Sasha down for the scan and the technician suggested cytology testing.” I told her yes, how long for the results, and was told it hadn’t been done “because we didn’t have permission.” I asked “Why on earth didn’t someone call, we came for a diagnostic study?” Diane explained that she didn’t know and Dr. Gordon would call upon his return. I pay for the ultrasound, leave, and once again await a phone call from Dr. Gordan. Dr. Gordan called at 1544 and explained that a “large mass” was found on her liver (which wasn’t a surprise for me given the persistent elevated alk phos) along with multiple small kidney stones. He then explained that fluids weren’t collected because coags hadn’t been obtained prior to the ultrasound and that I would need to return, pay for another ultrasound so the specimen could be obtained via ultrasound. I asked “Why on earth wasn’t this done today as this was meant to be a diagnostic procedure?” He then responded “Good question” and asked “What doctor did you see in January?” I explained that we saw him and agreed upon the treatment plan. He then explained that “I didn’t know Sasha was on the schedule or I would have scheduled the coags.” He then explained that he would speak to leadership regarding covering the cost of the the next ultrasound due to this “oversight”. I attempted to explain that was a great start but this encompasses so much more! One missed day of work, now will turn into two days. Increased stress while waiting on the second ultrasound THEN awaiting cytology results before discussing a treatment plan. My concerns seemed to fall on deaf ears as Dr. Gordan attempted to shift responsibility for this delay of care to front desk staff and scheduling. Again, I asked to speak with Diane and voiced by extreme disappointment, concerns and lack of comfort proceeding with banfield. I’d like either the ultrasound guided cytology cost be absorbed by banfield due to lack of communication or a refund of the ultrasound yesterday so that we can seek care somewhere else (the latter being by preference). Although Diane assured me she would work on a resolution she encouraged me to also reach out to corporate to expedite the process. No response to date.

Avoid Banfield, save your fur baby.
The vets at the Goodlettsville Banfield Hospital told us my 9-month-old puppy was suffering nausea and GERD and told us to give him Pepcid, etc. We took him to an actual vet, and as it turns out, he has epilepsy. Devastating, but at least we can move forward. AVOID BANFIELD AT ALL COST!

Awful company
If a 0-star option was available, that's what I would have selected. Banfield is known for its bill padding, and unprofessional attitude towards parting from their services. The Wellness program is 100% not worth the value. They pad the bill with excess charges, fees and inflated prices to make the usage amount double the plan rate. They add services that are not needed and treat your pets like numbers not pets. By doing this it allows them to charge you a cancelation fee if you decide to cancel your monthly service plan. This is a tricky scheme likely written by a lawyer to strong arm customers to either stay or pay to leave. This has been proven to be true over and over again. So much so that there are 3 class action lawsuits pending against their poor practices and negligence to the animals, I'll post the link at the bottom of this review. This is a company that values its dollars over its customers and ignores any real complaint at the highest levels about the poor practices. This shows an unwillingness to change for the better and see what the consumer truly is saying. This company is not interested in what you have to say, only what you're willing to pay. If you want your pets to be treated fairly, and you want to be treated like a human then please use caution before signing onto this wellness program. Look into smaller family-owned practices around your town.

Had previously been bringing my dog…
Had previously been bringing my dog here for 3 plus years for routine nail clipping. Ive always muzzled my chihuahua for them and never had a single issue until today. The vet assured me she would not need it as she took my pup to the back. She returned to tell me that she will be labeling him as aggressive in the system and that as such it will be a 50 dollar up-charge in pricing. Highly recommend Tiger Tails Animal Hospital as within the day they had accepted an appointment for a check up and included a courtesy nail clipping all which finished in less than 20 minutes.

Brought my puppy in for his first shots…
Brought my puppy in for his first shots and was charged $77 for a well puppy check. He was literally in there for 5 minutes for a puppy check nail clipping and 2 vaccines, and I was not allowed to go in. Took him back 3 weeks later for his booster and was charged AGAIN for a well puppy check. Had a 3rd appt for final booster and was told when I called them that I would be charged for ANOTHER well puppy check!!! Why does my dog need 3 well puppy checks in 6 weeks???? That is more well checks that human babies get!! Cancelled my appt and will never be back. Also, will find a vet where I can go in with my dog - makes me wonder if they even did anything!!!

No more in office visits - EVER. WTH?
We've been with Banfield for 10 years and are leaving. You can no longer book a visit where you can be in the room with the vet and your pet. It is ALL drop-off. I find this ridiculous. I am paying for an office visit and if my pet is sick I should be able to talk to the vet as they examine the pet. They went to the dropoff model during Covid and just decided they want to keep it because it saves them money. I understand for well checks, but for a sick or injured animal the fact that all you can is drop your pet off is stupid and horrible customer service. Good bye Banfield. You suck

For almost 3 years our dog has been…
For almost 3 years our dog has been seen in Bellingham Wa. Our dog started showing pure fear of their office about 8 months ago. We insisted that one of us had to be in the room with him due to his fear. What we witnessed was the most lack of care we have ever experienced. The second time we take him in he nips the vet, the vet said it was his fault, he didn’t read him. Our dog has been on their wellness plan and I now know he has never received adequate. He had blood in his urine and they got him in the next day. We brought his urine with so they didn’t have to collect it. The vet said he had rare crystals. No bacteria but put him on antibiotics. Prescribed a diet that isn’t carried in Washington state. 2 days later he is struggling to urinate. I call them and explain he is having trouble urinating. Head down, and straining, little urine was coming out and he stood for a long time. The front office lad said with a deep sigh I’ll go ask my vet. She comes back on and sighs again and says all the vets are in rooms, I’ll put a note on the board and if one of the vets answers I’ll call you. I’m so glad I have a brain and called the emergency vet! They said life threatening and come now. When we were at the er banfield called me 10 minutes before they closed and said if you want you can come by the office and grab some anti inflammatories and give that a try. Our dog was straining so hard he was drooling and about to pass out. ER got him unblocked and today he is having surgery! If a vet says they found rare stones don’t you think they should do an X-ray? I told the vet for about the last 6 exams that his anus is swollen and he licks a lot, they said it’s because he is intact. I find out now that a intact male will get bladder stones and his prostate will swell. If he received even general care they would of addressed it when I told them of the symptoms. We almost lost him and I would never put an animals life in their hands again and I strongly suggest you never take that risk! I called and asked to speak with a manager. Jeremey was annoyed and was rude. Jeremey needs some customer service training!!
