I will never take another animal to this corporation. It is basically an overpriced vaccine clinic. All they want is your money. Any time my dog was sick they could never see her and I was left scrambling for another vet. My pet passed away and she had a wellness plan. Guess what? I’m still have to pay it until the plan expires. What crap and and to me it shows all they want is your money.

I have been generally happy with the…
I have been generally happy with the veterinary services but the corporate billing practices have me considering canceling when up for renewal.
I had an elderly basset hound of 18 years. In his last year, the vet felt that he would not fair well under anesthesia, and that his wellness plan should be downgraded at the time of renewal as not to include the dental cleaning. Even though this was discussed when the renewal came up the downgrade wasn't done and I continued to be charged for a premium plan.
When the time came for cleaning, the vet would not do it due to risk (understandably) but I continued to be charged for that service. When I wished to change to the less expensive plan, I was told that there would be a cancelation fee for the other service, even though I had been enrolled by mistake, and that I'd also be responsible for any services already provided, even though I was still planning on getting the lesser plan that included those services.
I had to euthanize my dog 7 months later. The clinic knew but said that cancelations of the account would have to be taken care of through the corporate billing office. I was moved through different departments when I called, and the put on hold. I was told there would be a 60+ minute wait and opted to be called back. The call came back at 1 hour 20 minutes and was dropped before I could answer. When I called back, I went through the same process, and was told there would be another 90 minute wait, but they never called back.
Now I have to go through the same process tomorrow.

Banfield doesn’t care about your pets, they only want your money.
Banfield does not care. I have wasted around 800$ for a puppy wellness plan and these company can’t even give me the courtesy of upholding my appointments. This pricing does not cover her spay, either.
The receptionists and vets alike are very wishy-washy on what is and isn’t covered by the health plan. They keep saying something different every time. They told me leptospirosis (1st vax) was covered by my dog’s plan and then it wasn’t and they tried to charge me almost 100$ for the vet visit. They said they could arrange to pick up my pup from the pets hotel in the same petsmart and that they would send the invoice with my dog. They never went to get her and didn’t call me or anything. I went there in person and gave my name, phone number and the name of my dog AND her appointment time. They confirmed with me to my face that they could go get her and complete the appointment. They didn’t.
Heck, the location I was going to CLOSED DOWN because all of the staff but a few QUIT and they waived only one of three months’ payments for a health plan I couldn’t even use! They told me to go to another location but they were flooded with customers from the same location I go to. My dog was almost killed in a dog fight and I had to go to a completely different vet because they weren’t even open. Not even for re-checks or follow ups either.
On top of that they couldn’t even get the reason for the appointment correct. I wanted her bordetella shot updated and they kept putting it down as a checkup for alternate issues that I have gone to other vets for because I’m tired of this.
They aren’t helpful in emergencies either. Their vet chat misinformation almost cost my puppy her life, saying that (what later turned out to be furonuclosis) was a hotspot even when I described bloody pustules to the person on the other end.
My dog was incredibly sick and I had to take her elsewhere because they wouldn’t give me the time of day or even out me on a cancellation list.
The wording they use when they sign you up for health plans is deceptive and predatory and they do not at all explain to you that canceling the plan, even if your animal dies- costs the entirety of the plan’s money right then and there. If not they will just keep charging you! And by the way, they set those health plans to auto renew and it is like pulling teeth to get answers from anybody.
They tell you to email the banfieldcares email but I am wholeheartedly convinced that nobody reads them. I tried to send five or six emails to them before calling and being told to email them and I got mad. They transferred me to a man who told me if I wanted to cancel my plan two months in I would owe them about 700$.
800$ for puppy shots. Absolute scam. This company is predatory and I will never recommend it to anyone. My experience with them has been nothing short of infuriating.

I got an email today that told me the wellness plan was going up six dollars and I did the math out and I’m paying a couple extra hundred dollars a year for this plan and my dog doesn’t really require anymore so I called and spoke to an ignorant guy on the phone and he charged me $100 to cancel and I am less than thrilled and extremely disappointed. I also have nothing bad to say about banfield at this time but the Owp and their “rules” is completely ridiculous.

Watch out for Banfield Wellness Plan scam and unhelpful billing department
I am extremely unhappy with how my family’s whole experience has been with the financial situation at Banfield. The uncooperative, unyielding “assistance” on every level really surprised me negatively (except the helpful staff actually at the hospital who just don’t have the ability to do anything to help with the account - THEY deserve a raise for what they do to try to help). The account is in complete disarray and my family is being blamed for it. This week (first week of January, 2023) my son, who had given his dog to my daughter and her husband several years ago, received a collections letter with a ding on his credit report of 25 points, stating that he had a delinquent account for a whopping $651. The dog has not even been in his care for many years. My daughter and her husband had paid off the final bill for the dog’s last services March 28th, 2022 and closed the account. The person with whom my daughter spoke on the phone verified the account was clear, all was paid off, and it was now closed. My son-in-law had been asked to “sign the receipt” prior to this at the hospital and it turns out he had been handed a renewal form for another year of the dreaded annual contract at Banfield that committed them to 12 monthly payments of over $50. He didn’t even know that because the intent had been to close the account down. Now we find out that they have to pay $651 for absolutely nothing. No services for the dog. No vaccines. Not even a toenail clipping because they didn’t even know they had a wellness plan since they had intended (and it had been confirmed) that this had been closed and they were good. No effort has been made to reach out to get the bill paid for the unintended Wellness Plan, even with the email and cell phone. The address on the account was from when we created the account for this dog back in 2012 - 11 years ago. I haven’t lived there in over 4 years and my daughter hasn’t lived there in longer. She kept trying to tell staff at Banfield to update the account to her information and all she managed to get them to do was change email and cell phone. Naturally, ONE notice letter was, of course, mailed to the old address (so says the corporate finance office). No other effort was made before it was immediately sent to collections. Had we known this was an issue, we would have used the wellness plan, albeit begrudgingly because we thought it was cancelled. But we would have wanted our money’s worth. Again, we didn’t even know there was an open account because of how this went down. We never even used the services. Does anyone in billing care about that? Not in the slightest. No efforts have been made to believe any of my family who have tried to get something fixed. This is theft and deceit, in the form of a signed contract and there’s nothing we can do because the wonderful, amazingly understanding billing people could only repeat, “Well, I have a signed contract here.” I’m insulted, very angry, and disgusted with this business for being so deceiving and for making absolutely no effort to make this right for the customer. When it comes to Banfield Pet Hospital, I unequivocally will encourage people to go elsewhere if they want to hang on to their wallets. Nobody cares in the billing departments or at corporate in the financing department. It’s just, “There’s a signed contract.” So no effort to help or make it right. The principle of this thing is a lot more important to me than even the $651. Whatever you do, do NOT use Banfield Pet Hospital!! Go to a different vet for your pet’s care if you don’t want to be scammed or run through a boatload of disrespect and poor treatment ending up in a ruined credit score and a hefty bill for nothing. They are walking away with $651 and we get nothing for it but a 25 point credit score ding. Unbelievable.

AVOID THIS PLACE
AVOID THIS PLACE! My dog is on an Optimum Wellness plan which covers two comprehensive exams and one dental cleaning a year. She had her first exam in May. A dental cleaning was scheduled in November, but they canceled it. Today I took her for her dental cleaning. They found a heart murmur during the exam so I decided to not have the cleaning until I got her checked out as she would be put under anesthesia and it is risky. My prepaid plan ends in the beginning of February so there's no way I can get a teeth cleaning in. When I picked her up they said I owed $204! I said that this was the second comprehensive exam and they said it only goes with the teeth cleaning. This is false as I checked the plan and they were separate. I insisted the give me my dog back.
I sent an email to support and they gave me a phone number to call. After over an hour on the phone with their headquarters they said there was nothing they could do and no refunds. So I never got the second check-up I paid for and I owe $204. So one check up plus flea medicine cost me almost $1,400 this year.
If you do want to visit this hospital don't buy their wellness plan.

Do NOT use this company
Banfield is a complete and total scam. They do not care about you or your pets needs. They are severely understaffed with actual Veterinarians and the front desk staff has abysmal customer service. I tried to cancel my plan 5 months and couldn’t, and it has been to expensive to pay them and another vet. 1/6/23 I had to pay an additional $250 for lab fee and was told I’d have the results 24 hours later. As of today I’ve called at 10 am left on hold for 15 min and 3:00 pm left on hold for 25 min just to explain the same situation over and be told they might have the results on Wednesday. My puppy was sent home with NO CARE plan to even help alleviate the problem. And to make matters worse they’re also charging me extra for simparica trio that I should have two left of. As a first time pet parent who didn’t know any better this has been beyond frustrating. Please head the warnings- DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO BANFIELD. These reviews are all true!
Edit 3/3/2023
In addition to my review above, I have now been charged for an additional month of payment. I was told by the customer service rep that my 1st months payment was just a membership "fee" and that I still owed for February, even though I am no longer using- or able to use the services. (Not that I would, I've had to find my dog another vet while still injuring these charges).
I was also told bye this rep that they could not offer me a refund because "the services that I used were expensive and would have been double the normal retail price." Inquiring that I used more of the services that normal or necessary - even tho I am PAYING for a wellness plan to cover this.
This company is CRAP. Please listen to us on this site. DO NOT USE BANFIELD.
