Refused to provide in-network providers complete list
I have attempted multiple times since January 2 to change my PCP. Kept being directed to online portal. The portal has almost nothing except payment options. I finally called customer service and had great difficulty getting any assistance. I requested in-network providers and was denied. I have requested a supervisor but now on hold for 20 mins and counting. One of the worst choices I made. Probably better off with no insurance!!

They need to be sued for hundreds of…
They need to be sued for hundreds of millions of dollars with no rate increases in 10 years to cover their payouts. They give paying customers the run around constantly, and literally lie with the information they give you. They tell you your insurance will be activated and it isn't. Paying massive out of pocket costs on medication and doctor visits after paying anthem. Insurance scammers as normal. My girlfriend is having emotional and physical damage to her body over this. Lies, lies. And more lies.

Anthem refused a procedure my Dr…
Anthem refused a procedure my Dr ordered and when I called and on hold for 27min that person could t help me and sent me to another dept and after being on hold there for 55minutes that person said the other person Was the correct dept. I called again only to be put on a Live Chat text but it wasn’t live, it was a bot, and at 5:30, after being on hold with the Bot (which was my 3rd call to Anthem) since 4:40 I realized no one’s coming back, it’s after 530, they just left me hanging. Anthem is all about the money, and refuses dr ordered procedures and no customer service.

HORRID!!!!
HORRID!!!!! I am 70 years old and have never in my life had a worse insurance company. (Or any company at all for that matter.) The worst of all is their so-called pharmacy, Carelon (which should be called NON-Carelon!). Do not count on getting your medications on time, do not count on getting them at all periodically. Count on being over-billed, ignored, and continual screwups. Count on directions not being read and/or ignored. Count on hours and hours and hours on the phone…with corrections STILL not being made. Count on being over-billed, billed for charges you do not owe, and on and on and on. This is the MOST INEPT company I have ever dealt with. I have put up with them and their predecessor pharmacy (Ingenio) for 2 years, and cannot WAIT to get rid of them!
Anthem itself does not care any more than Carelon and will ignore 90% of your attempts to communicate with them as well. Even if they do communicate with you, they will simply pass the buck to the pharmacy. I actually had to write to the CEO and 21 other higher-ups to get some kind of response...and yet, they STILL haven't corrected their errors despite promises to do so. Currently, they have overbilled me by $400; I am so sick and tired of dealing with them, I am not even going to try to get my $400 back... I just want to be done with them.
I will GLADLY pay more to an insurance company and pharmacy that actually know what they're doing and, at the very minimum, care enough to do their jobs right and correct their errors. I cannot WAIT to be rid of them forever!
(BTW, this form asks for the date of experience. Although I will fill in today's date, the date of experience is actually January 1, 2022 thru today, November 27, 2024. (And I have absolutely no doubt that it will continue through December 31, 2024.)

I met with my local Medicare advisor…
I met with my local Medicare advisor for my annual Medicare plan review again today. Once again, Anthem remains to be the strongest option for me in my local area. I don’t understand the negative reviews for them here, as most people I know use Anthem and like I have great experience.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE
Always a horrible experience with Anthem. They never cover any routine costs and always blame the doctor for prescribing tests or procedures that are not covered. It's constant frustration with them. They never help any in any way and always make you go through hoops with claims. It's always a struggle and I would NEVER recommend them.

Deceptive marketing and they don't handle grievances well
I have the Anthem Medicare Advantage plan for 2024. I will not renew with them because they lowered the dental expense coverage limit with Liberty Dental Plan by $300 (2024 it was $1500 reduced to $1200 in 2025). A red flag is that they removed any mention of it on their website and do not disclose it on the Medicare website. Additionally, I have had problems with their medical transportation provider who stood me up twice after booking transportation then told me they have no drivers in my area, which I told Anthem, but when talking to Anthem they lied and said they have drivers and that I was mistaken. The transportation company relies on Uber drivers which can not provide transportation home if you are sedated. I had a colonoscopy and they used an Uber to get me home which was against medical policy. I appealed the decision and Anthem did nothing. Finally, I was told that telemed services were $0 copay but they billed it at the in-office rate of $40 and I had to file a grievance and then win an appeal to get it properly sorted out. I will be switching to another company that has better dental coverage and hopefully fewer hassles.

A Diligent Representative
The representative that I spoke with was very helpful. I needed to get a document. She electronically sent it to me and waited on the phone until I received it. She also utilized the parameters to narrow down the search.
Porscha was very helpful. She was calling from the Texas call center. I appreciate the fact that she took the time to wait until I received the document. She was also encouraging.
