I pay $700 / month for this insurance. I picked it because my doctors were in network. I have a chronic eye condition, and my opthalmologist's office told me they took Anthem Blue. It says in my dashboard when I login to Anthem Blue that he is in network. So why why why are they not paying the bill from my visit there 4 months ago? I keep getting billed. I reached out to Anthem Blue and got some idiot who told me he was out of network. I sent the screenshot from the dash that said he was in network. Some lady then responded and said "yes, he is in network, thank you for bringing this to our attention.". But they still haven't paid the bill. So again, I reach out and reference that message that acknowledges he is in network. And again I get a response saying he is out of network and the email that the lady sent acknowledging that he was in network disappeared! What a shady dishonest company. Do not use them. you cannot believe anything they say. YOu cannot count on them to pay their bills. I am going to report them to the department of insurance.

Anthem charged me $2000 because my doctor (in-network) used a blood testing lab that was out of network. After I called Anthem and spoke to agents over an hour, they said they would credit me the blood test charge and re-label it as in-network. How is that even possible?! If I call and complain, you're saying you can arbitrarily not charge me for a medical expense that you previously charged me for?! Why try to charge me $2000 in the first place.

They will deny and make you fight for coverage if you have any pre-existing condition each time you need it. They do not cover prescriptions at any pharmacy except their own (Caremark) and have hours that make it almost impossible to call and address any issues if you work during the day. When you do call to take care of a problem, it becomes a multi-call, multi-week quest to resolve anything—if it gets resolved at all. I have been without medication for months now. They are a perfect example of what is wrong with healthcare in the USA and should be criminally prosecuted. I would rate 0 stars if possible and wish my employer would switch providers.

As a licensed healthcare provider with only 5-star reviews in work that I take very seriously, I am completely disturbed by my own recent personal experiences with Anthem as a totally unethical insurance provider. I take extremely good care of my health and recently needed a medical intervention for a condition I've been working on through private healthcare investments for the past several years. Despite the documentation of two different licensed doctors that I needed this service, Anthem denied coverage. The utter lack of care on the part of Anthem and multiple tactics set up to deny needed healthcare coverage only to make money and avoid paying for needed services became crystal clear throughout this process. I know how easy it is as a business owner to stay value-oriented and not compromise ethics, so Anthem has lost my trust and will not receive any further business or personal referrals for the rest of my life.

While I like their insurance coverage, I am a nurse and I do understand health insurance. But getting in touch with them to let them know that an email they sent out and its links does not work. I tried 3 times to get it to work through my iPhone. What is WORSE is Sydney, their chatbot is just plain ignorant, does not understand spoken english, and is even unable to understand simple requests. I do not know if I will recommend Anthem to my patients in the future. I have serious concerns about the security and safety of my medical information now with Anthem. Just what are they doing? And doing so poorly? They are accountable and responsible.

I currently have anthem healthkeepers. I have made 5 calls today to get some information about my plan. After the lengthy automated system I had to listen to, which did not address my questions, I was sent to offshore reps whom I could not understand. I asked the women 6 times to transfer me to an American rep. She kept speaking. When she stopped i told her I could not understand most of what she said and requested an American- again. She hung up on me. I called back and got a male from same country and I was able to understand him a little better. When I told him my name , he hung up. I called back 4 more times. The same lack of communication happened. I ended up hanging up on the 6th call. Why does Anthem send important jobs like this overseas? Clear English speakers should have these jobs. Furthermore, the automated voice spoke of 'payments' from the start, then spoke of 'chatting' with a rep. My payments are auto deducted from my account, so the automated lecure wasted my time - as did the 'chat with a rep' lecture. Chatting takes a lot more time than speaking to a human. There's got to be a better way for members to communicate when they have questions. Do better.

Amazing Customer Service experience, period. I have been going through some trouble with trying to get a medication pre-authorized for one of my children. I personally spent about a month, or more, trying to connect the dots between the doctors, insurance companies, and pharmacy to identify where the breakdown happened and why I was being told it was approved, by the doctor, but the pharmacy was not seeing this. Lisa, spent almost an hour with me contacting the various folks needed to narrow down where the issue was. Finally, she was able to assist me in getting this issue resolved so the pharmacy was able to see the pre-approval. This is A+ customer service that should be recognized. I've had similar experiences with Anthem, when I have called prior times, but, this one stands out!

Horrible customer service. Horrible insurance plans. Horrible phone automated system. All around just horrible. I wouldn't recommend this insurance to anyone. Save yourself.
