-RMA 2603802: apertura pratica 28-Apr-2026, ricezione prodotto 6-maggio-2026.

Zero accountability
If I could select zero stars I would!
Had an issue with some of my family members not being able to access a Western Digital network drive. For those that could access it, all data was present and available. Contacted Western Digital support and followed their instructions to the letter (later verified by their own staff listening to recordings of the conversation). The end result was Western Digitals own support had given me instructions resulting in the drive being formatted which contained all the photos of our children. Western Digital gave me suggestions of companies I could contact who could attempt to recover the data but would not accept responsibility for any of the associated costs. Outside of the sleepless nights worrying about what we could have lost forever, it cost us $300 to have the data recovered. In the end, we got our data back and I purchased a competitors product as a storage solution. I will never purchase another Western Digital product again and encourage others to heed my warning and think carefully when choosing a company to trust with your data storage needs.

Customer support and product left wanting
I waited until today to write this, for a reason that will be self-evident. Back in January my 10tb drive failed after three days of use, so i submitted an RMA that was approved. They advised me that it had been received. I waited the entire month of January and February until I forgot about because I never received any new info. Last month I contacted them to find out what was going on and I was told that there was no replacement drive in their stock. I asked them why I had not been informed on the status to which I was given an apology, as if that help the situation. I asked again why I was not informed and was given an irrelevant response. I then asked what was being done about this to which I was offered just one remedy. I was offered a drive that is less than the drive that I owned. I asked if there was another option to which I was told no. Basically it was a take it or leave it response. Western Digital just basically gave me less than what I paid for, as if saying either you take this or we will give you nothing, though the drive was under warranty. I accepted the lesser drive only because I felt that if I didn't I would get nothing. I would never recommend their products because if I am the cause of someone going through this is by my hand, I would be ashamed. I waited until the new drive arrived before I wrote this, in case they retaliate.

Western Digital delivers HD products without warranty coverage.
On March 10, 2026, I ordered a 4TB Western Digital external hard drive online.
I received it on March 13th, and since it wasn't urgent and I had no doubts about the product's quality, I didn't test it right away.
I tested it for the first time on March 26th and, to my surprise, I found that the product doesn't work!
Basically, it cannot be read, written, formatted, partitioned or else, nothing at all! Just a piece of stone with a plug!!
Thus began my nightmare.
The product turned out to be out of warranty!
WD's warranty expired on January 20, 2021!
I tried contacting reseller for support, but to no way. Contacting supplier resulted essentially impossible; there's no address, no email, no phone number, no support, nothing at all.
I posted my negative review on their website, but it was deleted because they decided that it was unacceptable, and I was told to edit it. I used the email address in the reply to highlight the problem and was told I should file a complaint and that my case would be forwarded to the appropriate department.
I tried to file a complaint, but it proved impossible, also because, in the meantime, my purchase had been deleted from my order list.
I contacted the manufacturer Western Digital and things turned out to be even worse.
To make a long story short, I contacted them to register the warranty, and they told me that the HDD was manufactured in 2019 and that the two-year warranty expired in 2021! My protest, that international law stipulates that a product's warranty begins not from the manufacturing date but from the delivery date, was completely disregarded!
As of today, May 7, 2026, I find myself with a newly purchased product, delivered non-functioning and with no support neither from the retailer, nor from the manufacturer Western Digital, jointly responsible for product support!
I strongly recommend not to buy Western Digital HD!

Hi Danio,
Hello Danio,
Thank you for contacting WD Customer Service and Support. My name is George T.
I am taking over the current case related to the drive with serial number WXC1AB77TTDY, since my colleague is out of the office at the moment.
I fully acknowledge the provisions of Directive (EU) 2019/771 regarding the two‑year legal guarantee, which begins at the time of delivery to the consumer. However, this legal guarantee applies to the seller, who is responsible for addressing non‑conformity during that period.
The manufacturer’s warranty is a separate commercial warranty, offered voluntarily and governed by its own terms. For this product line, the commercial warranty period is determined by the manufacturing date, and in this case it expired before the purchase date you provided.
To illustrate the distinction: if a manufacturer produces a device in 2019 and a retailer keeps it in storage for several years before selling it, the legal guarantee still begins at the moment of sale — but the manufacturer’s commercial warranty does not reset or extend based on the retailer’s stock rotation. The seller remains responsible for the legal guarantee, while the manufacturer is bound only by the terms of the commercial warranty.
Since your purchase falls within the two‑year legal guarantee period, the appropriate channel is the retailer, who is obligated to assist you under EU consumer law.
Hope this helps!
Feel free to forward the current message to the place of purchase as proof of our communication.

Bad company with a cold and unfriendly…
Bad company with a cold and unfriendly attitude to customers. I purchased their product to protect my data. It did the exact opposite of that. Twice.
