This program was great for what I needed at the time while working full time as a preschool teacher.

What stood out most to me about…
What stood out most to me about attending Walden University was how much the experience challenged me to become an independent learner and critical thinker. Completing my doctoral education in an online environment required discipline and perseverance. Therefore, I had to be my biggest cheerleader and motivate myself throughout this journey. However, more importantly, Walden helped me recognize that education is not simply about earning a degree; it is about taking what I learned and using it to create meaningful change in my professional life as well as in the lives of others.

Best decision I ever made…
I had credibly supportive instructors throughout my master's degree with Walden University. I'm so glad I kept going until I completed it. It has helped me level up in my career.

I graduated with a 3.7 GPA. I still wouldn't recommend Walden.
I graduated from Walden University. Based on my experience, I would not recommend the institution.
There were significant issues throughout my time as a student there.
First, I was verbally quoted a tuition price that did not match what I ultimately paid. If you are considering Walden, get every financial promise in writing before enrolling.
I was also disappointed by the practicum support. I was told Walden would be actively involved in helping students locate practicum placements. When I needed that assistance, I was told the person responsible had too many students to help me. That was very different from the level of support I had been led to expect.
Since I graduated, the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) has changed its requirements regarding field placements. Under the current standards, students cannot be solely responsible for locating their own field placement. Programs are responsible for identifying and approving field settings and must provide assistance to students. I hope this means future students receive the support I was told I would receive but did not.
Another serious issue occurred when I was hospitalized and temporarily unable to use a phone or computer and was essentially unable to communicate. Despite explaining the circumstances, I was told there were no exceptions for late discussion work. I was not offered a meaningful alternative for completing the work once I was able to return. Luckily, I still passed.
Then there was my grandmother's funeral.
I had a required professor check-in scheduled during her funeral. I told the professor multiple times that I could not attend because I would be at the funeral. I had said no at least ten times. The professor scheduled the meeting anyway and told me to let her know if I could "sneak out" of the funeral.
I could not.
The professor subsequently contacted my practicum placement supervisor and stated that I had never shown up. Fortunately, my placement supervisor already knew what was happening and knew that this was not an accurate representation of the situation.
I also requested disability accommodations and provided documentation regarding my medical circumstances. I was told there was no time limit on when accommodations needed to begin. In practice, this meant I was left without accommodations when I needed them. When I wanted to bring an advocate to a meeting, I was told the meeting could be months away because, according to what I was told, "they are not held to the same standards as brick and mortar schools."
I am proud of earning my degree, and there were individuals at Walden who were supportive. My overall experience with the institution was disappointing at best.
My advice to anyone considering Walden is to document everything. Get promises about tuition, accommodations, practicum support, and academic policies in writing. Do not assume that what you are told verbally will be what actually happens.
I successfully graduated with a 3.7 GPA, so if you're looking for a diploma without an education, this is your place!
I would not choose or recommend Walden.

Disorganized, dishonest, incompetent!
I enrolled at Walden University expecting a supportive and organized graduate nursing program. Unfortunately, my experience with the Nursing Field Experience department has been one of the most stressful and disappointing experiences of my academic career.
I came from having an outstanding GPA from both my bachelors and all the classes taken at Walden.
This organization is Incredibly disorganized, dishonest in their conduct, horrible communication, and a horrible lack of assistance (specially for an online program).
No assistance with clinical placements (even though in their website and student handbook says otherwise - which brings back their dishonesty and lack of assistance) or preceptors for nursing and healthcare programs.
Very disappointing and do not recommend!

Completing my Doctor of Psychology in…
Completing my Doctor of Psychology in Behavioral Health Leadership at Walden University is one of the accomplishments I am most proud of. Balancing doctoral studies with a full-time career in case management was challenging, but the flexibility and support I received from Walden made it possible. Throughout the program, I grew not only as a student but also as a leader, strengthening my ability to advocate for individuals experiencing homelessness and those facing behavioral health challenges.
One of the most meaningful parts of my journey was completing my dissertation, which focused on improving access to outpatient behavioral health services for people experiencing homelessness. That experience reinforced my passion for creating positive change and confirmed that leadership, compassion, and evidence-based practice can make a real difference in people's lives.
Earning this degree has given me greater confidence to pursue new opportunities, continue serving my community, and inspire others who may be wondering whether they can achieve their educational goals. My message is simple: no matter how demanding life becomes, with determination, perseverance, and faith, your goals are within reach.

My journey began at Walden University…
My journey began at Walden University in 2023 with only an associate degree. I decided to go back to college to finish my bachelor’s degree, advance my career, and open up new opportunities. I had wonderful instructors during my studies that taught me valuable lessons and made me feel supported and comfortable. This positive experience inspired me to continue my education by enrolling in Walden's master's program in 2025. Although the path was not always smooth, I persevered with determination and self-belief, along with the encouragement from the incredible team at Walden. Now, I am even considering pursuing a doctorate. I have come this far at Walden University because the faculty and staff genuinely commit themselves to helping students succeed. They truly want to see us reach our goals. Without Walden, I might not have earned my bachelor's or master's degree or even considered continuing to a doctoral program. Walden has made me feel proud, purposeful, and accomplished, providing me with the foundation I needed to succeed.

SCAM!
SCAM!
Someone stole my identity and fraudulently enrolled using my information. I never attended this university, never applied, and had never even heard of it before this happened.
Instead of protecting victims of identity theft, they reported the fraudulent account to collections, damaging my credit. I've called weekly over several months. Every single time I'm told the issue will be fixed, and every single time nothing happens.
They outsources all support and no one helps me and they continue to say they are 'working on it' with zero follow up.
The representatives acknowledge that I was the victim of identity theft and that I was not the person who enrolled. Despite that, they still haven't corrected the damage to my credit.
Walden is too incompetent to prevent fraudulent enrollments or fix them.
Response from Walden UniversityAug 6, 2026
We take claims of identity theft extremely seriously. We can confirm that a member of our team has reached out directly and this matter is actively being investigated. Due to the sensitive and financial nature of this case, we are unable to share further details publicly, but we are committed to working toward a resolution. If you need additional assistance, please do not hesitate to email us at [email protected].
