The celebratory atmosphere made it very exciting. I enjoyed being able to celebrate with so many graduates in my profession. Also, being able to stay at the hotel where the commencement was held made it convenient for me and my family.
Thank you Walden University!!

My time at Walden University was truly…
My time at Walden University was truly exceptional. It all began with the unwavering support of Wayne Lepp, a compassionate individual (recruiter) who never allowed me to say “no” to not joining the program. His continuous motivation and encouragement instilled in me the belief that I was capable of achieving anything. Despite his passing, Wayne made sure to check in on me every month, showcasing his genuine care and dedication. Wayne introduced me to my student advisor, Dr. Johnson, I was introduced to Dr. Johnson, who was so a crucial in her role of in guiding me and assisting me in making informed decisions throughout the seven year program.
Both Dr. Rich Thompson and Dr. Lamarcus Bolton, my first and second chairs, were firm in their approach but were committed to ensuring my success. I tried another Ph.D. program, and the lack of support and interest from their chairs were disheartening.
I am truly grateful for the exceptional team that was assembled to support me on this journey towards success.

WELL ORGANIZED ,ATTENTION WAS PAID PARTICURLY TO STUDENTS AND FAMILY
My experience at my Walden University Commencement Ceremony this past Saturday was truly overwhelming and unforgettable. From the moment I arrived, I felt warmly welcomed, celebrated, and appreciated by the Walden University community. The entire ceremony was very well organized, professionally structured, and beautifully coordinated, making the experience enjoyable for graduates and their families. Walking across the stage and celebrating this important academic achievement surrounded by fellow graduates, faculty, family, and friends was a proud and emotional moment for me. I am deeply grateful to Walden University for creating such a meaningful commencement experience and for making this milestone one I will always remember.

A diploma mill rate education
Walden University presents itself as a flexible, supportive option for working adults, but my experience in a graduate program revealed significant issues that undermine its value. Course materials were consistently outdated, with readings and resources that did not reflect current industry standards. The academic rigor was far below what should be expected at the graduate level; many assignments felt more appropriate for bachelor‑level introductory courses. Instead of focusing on meaningful content, the program emphasized APA formatting to an excessive degree, creating the impression that compliance mattered more than learning.
Course structure was another major concern. Assignment instructions were often generic placeholders, and students had to wait for the professor to release the actual requirements. This lack of clarity made planning difficult and removed any sense of academic flexibility. Tests and assessments frequently felt like filler rather than tools for evaluating mastery.
Administrative support was equally disappointing. The financial aid department routinely failed to respond to emails or voicemails, leaving students without timely guidance. Additionally, the university’s status as a private, for‑profit institution is not clearly disclosed during enrollment conversations, which raises transparency concerns.
Overall, Walden operates more like a diploma mill than a true graduate institution. It may suffice for individuals who simply need a degree to meet promotion requirements, but it is not suitable for those seeking relevant, real‑world education to advance or change careers. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Walden University to students looking for genuine academic growth or professional preparation.

Im my life I allways wanted more
Im my life I allways wanted more: see more, help more, understand more, learn more. It was not to compete because if you see me I am no competitor but the best conversations are won when we are able to be heard and when we listen again no competidor. But I have participated in the best battles with greatest outcomes and lost battles with great sorrow but learning to do better the next time. Knowing this I knew that the path will be one with many obsticles and I was about to have the ride of a lifetime! I started solid and it felt good but the ride was just starting! I overcame natural disasters huracaines, family illness my dad my husband requiring one liver and lung transplant and unable to secure an affiliation agreemeent what a ride! But as I always say "more to come" and a promise made I had to continue and here I am. I did not searched for Walden, Walden found me! Dont ask me how but the name kept popping up! I dont lie as I was seeking information of other universisites in my search there was no connection and as I kept searching I was ignoring Walden but she kept popping never gave up! With such determination I clicked to see it and here I am now a Walden Alumni. My ride was a long one almost 10 yrs in the making. Despite the bumps, challenges Walden never gave up, it kept me going gave me time when I needed it and ready to guide and cheer me me when I was ready. What I learned in Walden was priceless! I learned that I was not alone that the same challenges that I experienced as a nurse were also the same challenges that others experienced during class connections were made. What I learned: I learned to seek for more, I learned th a t I had what it taked to ask questions to be resilient that a no is not an option to network to be humble to listen and of course to never give up. Today I have just completed a path on my journey and as I began my story there is more to come and I am ready! More to come for me, for my family for my patients for my profession and for anyone who cross my path! I am confident and I am ready. Thank you for never giving up on me for allowing me to complete my path. I am now on my journey to seek do and be more, so "more to come"

My Walden University Journey
My Walden University Journey: A Story of Growth, Perseverance, and Purpose
My journey at Walden University has been an incredible, transformative experience that has strengthened me academically, professionally, and personally. When I began this journey, I had goals for my nursing career, but Walden provided the education, flexibility, resources, and support that helped me turn those goals into accomplishments.
Throughout my time at Walden, I have been fortunate to complete several important milestones in my professional education, including my Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a specialization in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Executive Leadership, and most recently, my Post-Master's Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program.
Completing multiple advanced nursing programs while balancing my professional and personal responsibilities requires commitment, discipline, and perseverance. Walden's flexible learning environment made it possible for me to continue advancing my education while remaining actively involved in my career and serving others.
What stands out most about my Walden experience is the support I received throughout the journey. I encountered incredible instructors who shared their knowledge and encouraged me to grow, as well as dedicated academic counselors who helped guide me through my coursework and program requirements. The assistance provided with financial aid and flexible payment options also helped make continuing my education achievable.
There were challenging moments along the way, but I never felt that I had to navigate the journey entirely on my own. The encouragement and guidance I received from instructors, counselors, university staff, and leadership helped me remain focused on the bigger purpose behind my education.
My Walden education has allowed me to expand beyond a single professional role. My psychiatric-mental health education strengthened my ability to provide compassionate behavioral health care. My doctoral education in executive leadership enhanced my ability to lead healthcare organizations, support interdisciplinary teams, and advocate for quality patient care. My post-master's education as a Family Nurse Practitioner has further expanded my knowledge and ability to provide comprehensive care across the lifespan.
Today, I look back at where I started and recognize how much this journey has changed me. I have grown not only in knowledge and credentials but also in confidence, leadership, and my ability to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients, families, healthcare professionals, and the communities I serve.
To someone considering Walden University and wondering whether they can take that next step, I would say: believe in your ability to grow, remain committed to your purpose, and don't be afraid to pursue the next level of your education. The journey may require sacrifice and determination, but reaching the other side can open opportunities you once only imagined.
I am grateful to Walden University, my instructors, counselors, and university leadership for being part of this incredible chapter of my life. My journey is a reminder that education is more than earning another degree; it is about gaining the knowledge and confidence to lead, serve, inspire, and make a lasting difference.

From Baltimore City Public Schools to…
From Baltimore City Public Schools to Career Advising: My Walden Journey
My journey with Walden University was about much more than earning a master's degree—it was about transforming my career and continuing to make a difference in the lives of others.
After spending many years working in the Baltimore City Public School System, I decided it was time to take my experience, education, and passion for helping others in a new direction. I pursued my master's degree in Human Services at Walden University, and that decision ultimately helped me transition into my current career as a Career Advising Coach.
My experience at Walden was incredible. I truly appreciated the flexibility, patience, and understanding that Walden provided throughout my educational journey. Completing a graduate degree while working full-time—and at times part-time as well—was challenging. I was also pursuing my degree during the COVID-19 pandemic, which created challenges that none of us could have anticipated.
One of the most difficult moments came when I lost my father while I was completing my coursework. Balancing grief, work, family responsibilities, and my academic responsibilities was incredibly difficult. However, I continued to move forward. The flexibility and support I received from Walden helped me stay focused on my goal and ultimately complete my degree.
Today, I am proud to be working as a Career Advising Coach, helping middle school students explore college and career pathways, identify their interests and strengths, and begin thinking about their futures. My work allows me to use the many years of experience I gained in education and human services in a different and meaningful way.
Earning my master's degree from Walden University gave me the confidence and knowledge to take that next step in my career. More importantly, my journey reminded me that challenges do not have to prevent us from reaching our goals.
If someone is considering going back to school or making a career change, my advice is simple: believe in yourself, stay committed to your goal, and don't let life's challenges convince you that you cannot finish what you started.
My Walden journey was not easy, but it was absolutely worth it. I am grateful for the opportunity to have earned my master's degree in Human Services and to now use what I learned to help the next generation discover their own paths to success.
