I appreciate you working with us to get this resolved. I'm really glad our team was able to resolve the issue, I know that waiting on funds with little clarity on what's happening can be very stressful. I'm genuinely glad your funds have come through. If anything like this ever comes up again, please reach out to me directly — I'll do everything I can to help.

I don't like how my instructor critics… It's giving racist!!
I don't like how my instructor critics everything I send in. No matter how hard I try, it just seems like he always has a come back. He is very nice nasty towards me and I feel like he discriminates against me. I've had online classes before in the past and the instructors haven't been like this. He has a complaint about everything, and he gives me low scores. But I just feel like he wants to make feel small, to tear down the confidence I have. It took me alot of time and years to build myself up. An I won't allow my instuctor to cut me down, he reflects how he feels about his self. Then you wanna talk about "Social change" but he doesn't wanna display the change. Make it make sense! I love the school other than Scott Smith's class, he gives racist vibes. An I hate that for him and he needs to go heal that.

I'm so grateful you spoke up and shared your experience — your voice truly matters. I understand how deeply frustrating it is when things don't go the way you expect them to, and I'm sorry you went through that and were made to feel that way. I never want that to be the experience a student has.
I'm glad your concerns were fully addressed through Faculty leadership and that we had the opportunity to make things right.
You belong here —and per our conversation, I'm always here for you. Wishing you continued success.

Balancing my crown the right way
For a long time, I fell into the trap of the "strong woman" myth—the belief that grace means never breaking, and that competence means carrying every single demand without flinching. But Walden taught me the value of critical inquiry, and life taught me the necessity of radical self-reflection. Walden University empowered me to recognize that true strength lies not in enduring burnout, but in having the courage to establish strong boundaries, to declare, “I cannot do this today,” and to grant myself the same compassion I generously offer to my family, clients, and children.
My time at Walden became more than a path to a degree; it became a testament to resilience. It proved that purpose could coexist with pain, and that ambition does not have to extinguish empathy. I discovered that my worth is not measured by how many plates I can keep spinning, but by my capacity to heal, to evolve, and to build a legacy that honors where I came from.

Thank you for sharing something so personal and powerful. The growth you describe, learning to lead with both strength and self-compassion, is exactly the kind of transformation we hope education can inspire. We are truly moved to have played even a small part in that journey.

The program was absolutely wonderful
The program was absolutely wonderful. Achieving a master's in less than 2 years was amazing. The pace of the program is perfect for someone who works full time, and it is manageable since the full quarter calendar is out once the quarter begins, giving you time to plan everything ahead and stay on top of your journey. There is always staff ready to assist with any doubt and guide you to achieve your goals.

I started with a dream. I finished with a doctorate
My Walden Experience: A Journey of Perseverance and Purpose
My journey at Walden University was much more than earning a degree. It became a journey of perseverance, sacrifice, growth, and discovering just how much is possible when you refuse to give up on a dream.
I began this journey with a clear purpose: to advance my nursing education, expand my ability to serve others, and prepare myself for the next chapter of my professional life. What I did not fully understand at the beginning was how much the journey itself would transform me.
There were seasons when balancing school, work, family responsibilities, clinical requirements, deadlines, and everyday life felt overwhelming. There were late nights, early mornings, moments of exhaustion, and times when life brought challenges that had nothing to do with school but still had to be carried while assignments were due. I also experienced personal losses along the way. There were moments when finishing seemed very far away.
But I kept going.
One of the greatest lessons Walden taught me was that success does not always look like moving quickly. Sometimes success is simply refusing to stop. I learned to take the journey one discussion, one assignment, one practicum, one semester, and sometimes one day at a time.
The flexibility of Walden's online learning environment made it possible for me to continue pursuing my education while fulfilling my responsibilities as a working nurse and mother. I also appreciated the faculty members, academic resources, and support systems that helped guide me through different stages of the program.
Then came the moment when all those years of work became real.
Walking across the commencement stage and being hooded for my Doctor of Nursing Practice was more than an academic celebration for me. It represented every sacrifice, every sleepless night, every difficult season, every prayer, and every moment when I chose to keep going.
To anyone considering Walden—or to the student currently wondering whether they can make it to the finish line—my message is simple:
Keep going.
Your journey may not be perfect. Life may interrupt your plans. You may become tired. You may even question yourself along the way. But do not allow a difficult chapter to convince you that the story is over.
I started with a dream. I finished with a doctorate.
Today, I proudly celebrate my W and carry forward not only a degree, but a deeper commitment to use my education, my hands, and my experience to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Three degrees later
I have completed three degrees at Walden University and each experience was great. Being able to have the flexibility to do my course work within a reasonable timeframe was helpful. The length of the courses fit my schedule well and it was not overwhelming. The support from the professors was also great. I enjoyed being able to accomplish my goals of earning my degrees at Walden.

The online experience at Walden made it…
The online experience at Walden made it possible to pursue my master's degree while still working full-time to support myself and my family. The online experience at Walden is first-rate, and you still have individual interactions with professors and classmates through discussion posts and through Kaltura and Zoom.
I received my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and with Walden being CARCEP-accredited, there were no questions asked or issues with receiving tuition reimbursement through my employer or obtaining my license as a professional counselor through my state licensing board.
The professors I encountered were knowledgeable and always willing to answer questions and share their insight on how to improve my clinical skills. The knowledge and skills I gained in this program have helped me achieve my professional goals. Thank you, Walden, for a great experience!
