Not affordable and the spam email afterwards never ends
I went to this clinic at a Tractor Supply in Idaho expecting low cost vaccines, same as the people I talked to while standing in line with for 2 hours. Instead, I walked out with a $115 bill for two cat vaccines, a fecal test I never asked for, and $7 in needle disposal fees. I handed the tech a paper listing the two vaccines I needed. In response, she presented two “package” options and verbally explained the difference as the rabies vaccine brand and duration. What she did not mention is that BOTH packages automatically include a fecal test whether you want one or not. Apparently you can buy the vaccines individually, but you’d only know that if you researched the website ahead of time. Their à la carte pricing is $38 for rabies and $53 for the 1 year FVRCP, totaling $91 before disposal fees. They do not even offer a 3 year FVRCP. For comparison, I called my regular vet afterward. A 3 year rabies and 3 year FVRCP there would have cost me $69 TOTAL with no needle disposal fees tacked on. So this “affordable” clinic charged me substantially more for shorter coverage than my regular vet. . Also, do not bring a cat. They are not set up for them, they don't see them often. I expected they’d give my cat his shot while he was in his carrier but they insisted on taking him out. So my cat ended up getting his vaccines in the women's restroom to avoid any risk of him getting loose and possibly out the store's automatic doors. Apparently the experience doesn’t end when you leave. Now I’m getting spam emails trying to sell me Rx products I never asked about and encouraging me to register the microchip my cat already had and already has registered.. The emails also say things like “your vet recommends and has preapproved” these products. One is an Rx based on cat weight. They never got an accurate weight for my cat. They weighed him in his kennel and never weighed the empty kennel. So it’s a little scary they’d be prescribing a weight-based Rx for him. Furthermore, this clinic did not perform a veterinary exam. They are not my vet. They give vaccines in a folding table setup inside a store. That is not remotely the same thing. Apparently their follow up marketing strategy is just throwing random pet related emails at people and hoping something sticks. The marketing emails don’t even include an unsubscribe link. This is not the genuinely low cost vaccine clinic experience these in-store events used to be. They market themselves as “affordable,” but in my case they charged significantly MORE than a regular vet while providing less coverage, then followed up by acting like they’re my ongoing veterinary provider while spamming me with irrelevant marketing emails.
