BEWARE if you need a Visa
BEWARE if you need a Visa, especially if you're over 75 or have any health concerns! Viking would rather lose over $50k for a long tour than help with an Australia Visa which requires a LOT! Medical checks, all kinds of red tape. They told us to go to nearest consulate ....haha there is none within 6 hour drive from us. Besides we checked and the consulate was VERY clear they do NOTHING with visas. So then they say you have to go to the Aussy gov't. website and figure it out yourself. No way to treat someone willing to spend over $50k!!!

This is my 2nd river cruise in 10 years The quality has declined. Food wasn't as good. About 1/2 the staff were super friendly. The other half indifferent to almost rude. Accomodations were good. Rooms clean. Actually the cleaning crew was wonderful. Tours varied in quality. Since going public, it appears they lost their culture and drive for excellence. Biggest disappointment was the dining staff.

Viking didn't live up to their motto
Our Viking river cruise to France was supposed to be a relaxing getaway, but the air arrangements Viking booked for us turned it into a stressful mess. We booked our flights through Viking — not on our own — because we assumed they would take responsibility if anything went wrong. Instead, they routed us on what felt like bargain‑basement flights with multiple connections and barely any time between them. When delays hit, we were bounced across three airlines, and our bags never even left Newark. It took five days for mine and six days for my wife’s to finally reach us — meaning we spent the first six days of a 10‑day trip without clothes or essentials.
The Hotel Manager on the ship was wonderful and tried everything he could, but he had zero support from Viking corporate, leaving us to fight the airlines with inadequate support. And when the bags finally reached France — over 100 miles away — Viking actually expected us to pay to get them delivered. Only after a very heated call did they agree to cover the cost. Then, unbelievably, the flights Viking booked for our trip home had the same too‑tight connections. We barely made the flights, and now our bags are still missing 24 hours later. When I asked Viking for any kind of financial relief since half our trip was ruined, they offered nothing but a discount on a future cruise, saying it wasn’t their responsibility. After all this, I will never travel with Viking again, and I hope others take this warning seriously before booking.

I originally booked a river cruise with…
I originally booked a river cruise with Viking cruise. When my travel partner could no longer attend, I contacted Viking (multiple times) and explained that I still wanted to take the cruise but needed to downgrade to a more affordable stateroom. I was told that no such rooms were available, the cruise was 'sold out'. Based on the representative’s advice, the original booking was cancelled on 5/27, as I was told the cancellation would take 72 hours and did not want to incur additional penalties. (Deadline 5/30/26)
Today (5/29/26), I saw an available room within my price range on Viking's website and booked it immediately. When I called Viking to ask whether the $1,499.00 (my portion of the cancellation penalty) from the first booking could be applied to the new booking—since the original cancellation was within the 72-hour window—my request was denied. The representative(s) I spoke with, stated that they could not approve this request and that no supervisor was available to speak with. Although the rep indicated that such requests are handled on a case-by-case, they chose not to accommodate my situation. I have reached out to the executive team and waiting for a response.
You would think a reputable company such as Viking, who supposedly goes above and beyond for their customers can accommodate this reasonable request for a loyal customer.
Out of principal, I will not go on the cruise if they will not credit me my $1,499.00 towards another room, on the same cruise, same dates

Viking has no respect to their guests
I am on a Fjord cruise in May, I booked an all day excursion on the Viking website all paid for in advance. After I boarded the ship, I found the ticket missing, so I went to the guest service , wala , it was cancelled! Without notifing me! And they offered me other excursions that were available but which I had no interest in. The lady at the desk told me the vendor cancelled on them so there was nothing they could do , I could not believe Viking had no other vendor. After almost 30 minutes, they told me the manager would come and resolve it .Eventually, the manager came with two pieces of paper , the first one is an official notification of my cancellation, the second piece of paper is the fine print of the contract, she told me to read it and there was nothing they need to do. So that is how their level of customer service . NEVER VIKING AGAIN !
