All is well except for one fire unit in hall off kitchen. Cannot use broiler to prepare...say....lamb chops - set off alarm and fire department was sent out. I have not broiled since - not good. Also, you said you could not get thru on my phone and that is why fire department was sent. It did not ring - it cannot when alarm is on.....need this looked into for us.

Hi Carol, thank you for your feedback. To address your concern, we first need to explain briefly how alarms work. When the control panel sends an alarm, it takes over the phone line to send the signal to us. This is called "line seizure." Simply put, we, as the alarm company, seize the phone line so that communication between your alarm system and our Central Station takes priority. If the customer does not have call waiting, we will get a busy signal. If the customer does have call waiting, we will reach their answering machine/service. This most often happens when the panel sends multiple signals (as in this example). If panel only sends one signal, then by the time we call them the panel has released the line. When we receive fire signals, we attempt the premises and if there is no answer or we get an answering machine, we dispatch the fire department, since time is of the essence. In your case, we recommend contacting our service department to discuss the possibility of moving the detector or changing the sensitivity on detector so it doesn’t go into alarm when you use your broiler. You may also contact us if you'd like to note special instructions on your account for us to contact you at an alternate number in case of emergency.
