They don't honor prior commitments
Here is my review from a conversation I had with customer service on 12/14/23: Jason Bodner may have a good service and his Big Money Index is good, but the company, like every other subscription trade tips company is far more about sales than about actually protecting the customers, and when it comes to getting help, they are completely unwilling to budge. 4 years ago I bought a lifetime subscription to Palm Beach, and it included Palm Beach Trader, which was Jason Bodner's service with Palm Beach. It was a really hefty fee for this lifetime subscription. Because it was lifetime, when Jason Bodner moved his service to Brownstone Research and renamed his service to Outlier Investor, the lifetime subscription was transferred over at the same time. Then last year, he transferred his service again to a company called TradeSmith, but this time the lifetime subscription did not transfer over. So when I was able to get organized and try to renew my subscription to TradeSmith (because I like Jason Bodner's recommendations in general), I called their customer service number to get it transferred over. We talked on the phone for about an hour, and the customer service agent continually told me that I never had a lifetime subscription to Jason Bodner's, and that I was no longer a subscriber. At no level was the agent willing to reason. When I asked the agent to explain to me why my lifetime subscription didn't transfer, she said it was because I only had a lifetime subscription to the package deal with Palm Beach, and so when Jason Bodner moved, it did not transfer. When I explained to her how when he was with Brownstone, I never paid an annual fee, but I only paid the maintenance fee, she refused to acknowledge this. So I asked the agent if I could speak to her supervisor, not because I wanted to go over her head, but because I wanted to speak to someone that actually had decision making authority, she talked to her supervisor but refused to transfer me over to speaking to her supervisor. At no level was the agent accommodative in any way to understanding my argument that I had paid a lifetime subscription fee and therefore should be able to avail of the lifetime subscription service that I purchased several years ago. The idea is that the reason why the original packaged fee with Palm Beach was so expensive is because they divided up the lifetime subscription fees from each of the various services. Jason Bodner's original service at that time, called Palm Beach Trader, was never canceled. It was moved to Brownstone and renamed Outlier Investor. When that was moved to TradeSmith, it also was not canceled; it was only moved. Therefore in each case, the lifetime service should have transferred. But TradeSmith refuses to acknowledge my original lifetime subscription. My best advice on all these services, whether it be TradeSmith, Brownstone, Palm Beach, or any of the others that offer stock tips is, avoid them all. All of them have an underlying philosophy that the most important thing is to make a sale to you the customer, and then the most important thing after that is to avoid ever having to pay anything back out or concede anything that will cost them a few extra bucks, even though they are all making millions and millions of dollars on their subscription fees, and continuously sending you spam email once you pay for their services. The worst part about it is that I found myself having to chastise a poor customer service agent (who is just trying to do her job in order to feed her family) for working for an unethical company. I hate getting in conversations like that. I would far rather talk to people about the love of God and how you don't need to put your hope in money or material things. But because I had bought the original sales pitch many years ago, and it was part of a system that has a lack of ethics at its core, I found myself having to engage in this unpleasant conversation. I cannot tell them that what they are doing is good, because it is not. But the truth is, in the future, I would rather not get involved in these things at all. My advice is do your own research, find a really smart money manager if you have wealth you need to manage, and don't give in to the temptations that these services constantly offer to you of making huge gains on their stock tips. The whole idea of democratizing finance is sketchy at best and always ends up serving cunning Wall Street financiers more than anything, as they are able to manipulate markets to their advantage. I might also mention that if you do buy a service, anytime any one of them makes any recommendations, most of the time the price target for entry is far exceeded by the time you have a chance to enter the trade, because they have so many subscribers and they are all trying to buy on the recommendation all at the same time.
Response from TradeSmith, LLCDec 18, 2023
Thank you for taking the time to write out the details of your experience, George. I certainly apologize for any confusion caused by Jason’s transition to TradeSmith. The subscription you are referring to with Palm Beach is a bundle subscription that includes any product that Palm Beach actively has. Once Jason’s product was no longer available through Palm Beach, you would no longer have access to it through that lifetime subscription. Essentially, there were no fees being paid to Palm Beach for a Jason Bodner product specifically. When Jason was transitioning to Brownstone Research, the two companies worked together to try to best accommodate subscribers that wanted to stay with Jason, so they provided those customers with the new Outlier Investor product for free. When this change was made, the subscription was setup to renew annually at the full price and was therefore not a lifetime subscription. Jason then transitioned to TradeSmith and we attempted to accommodate his subscribers again by providing a complimentary year of his new product, Quantum Edge Pro. This means there have not been any payments collected for access to Jason Bodner’s products. Brownstone Research and TradeSmith sent out a few communications of this arrangement leading up to the change as well to explain the details. Had Jason moved to a company outside of our network, these complimentary services would most likely not have been offered. You had mentioned you liked Jason Bodner’s recommendations in general, so it sounds like you had a good experience with his service and considered renewing. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide an additional exception to allow you to pay only a maintenance fee to continue the service when no initial fee was paid for this product as it was complimentary. If you have any further questions regarding this, please feel free to call us at (866) 385-2076 or email us at [email protected].
