This company should be put out of business. I would need 10 pages to outline the problems with Hartford. We pay over $17,000 per year for home insurance. They're in the business of scamming their customers. I will follow up with an insurance attorney and the state insurance authority. Do not do business with this company.

I just spoke to billing department of Hartford in regards to some billing issues that they had with my insurance. The lady on the phone told me it’s patients responsibility to call after 2 weeks and make sure explanations of benefits is uploaded on my account as they are not located in the same building. When they are the same team and they are supposed to have coordination so patients gets good service they need. Here I’m being a patient dealing with their internal coordination whereas I’m supposed to be treated and only supposed to make a payment. Can’t believe how much a patient has to go through .

Poor experience with The Hartford Auto coverage policy. Signed up with them 6 months ago and thought that we had auto renewal using our credit card. Turns out, it wasn't put in as auto pay and when we hadn't had a charge on our credit card around the renewal date, I checked online to find out what the problem was. The website showed that the bill was past due (2 days) but had conflicting information about whether the bill had indeed been paid, so I decided to wait for the next day to call in and find out what the problem was (after calling all of their numbers that indicated that they were open late and getting nowhere). The very next morning, I was shocked to find out that they had cancelled our policy without so much as a notification (of course we had electronic notifications only). They never sent a cancellation email or one that indicated the date that the policy would be cancelled if payment was not made. We appealed to the customer service representative to try and reinstate the policy (as it had been less than 12 hours since the policy had been in force), but underwriting said no dice. They refused to reinstate the policy and indicated that I would have to wait a year before they would consider a reapplication. While I know that ultimately it was my error in judgement that precipitated this issue, it seems overly harsh and poor business to flatly refuse to reinstate someone who has not had any accidents or claims. Guess I won't be reapplying EVER!

I have been a customer for over 20 years. I thought they were the best because they bragged about how they take care of the elderly, boasted about it. Well, got my new billing for the year. Over 700 dollar increase! I have no tickets, no accidents, 2 older cars, 2012, and a 2017. Really? I promptly called State Farm, got all the same coverage for 100 bucks a month less! Lesson learned! Stay away from these rip offs!

we had Aarp insurance through Hartford for our cars. We had it for several years, and was happy until we tried adding a vehicle for our granddaughter in August 2023. Because of her driving record and the type of car she had, the insurance was going to be $562 a month. We informed Hartford over the phone when we added the vehicle that we were only gonna have it for a week because she was going to sell it and get a less expensive car. Once she found out what kind of car she wanted. He called Hartford to find out what the rate would be, and it was still astronomical. We subsequently got insurance through Geico when she sold her expensive car and purchased another car. Well, that happened, immediately went onto Hartford’s website in order to cancel her insurance. This was on September 1, 2023. I date of cancellation automatically came up as of October 1, which is our policy renewal date. When I got charged to $562 for the month of September I called Hartford to explain that I canceled on 1 September. They told me that since the system showed cancellation as of October 1 that I owed that money. I disputed with them and they said that if they can get a bill of sale going back to August 28, that they would credit me. I fax and the bill of sale on October 5 and did not have a credit by October 26. I called on the 26th and was told that they did receive the fax and that there was no guarantee of the credit. They put it into review and found that it was my fault via canceling online since the date said October 1 Such a horrible way to treat a long time customer

Hartford is the worst company of all time. How do you treat people over 50 in such a way? I changed my direct deposit I got a letter from Hartford saying my insurance was cancelled. I sent proof showing my direct deposit has been changing and they won’t reinstate me. My cousin works for the news outlet I’m going to let him know and have someone investigate Hartford's fraud insurance company.

So I called and hired The AARP Hartford in June, 2023, as they were less than my current provider. I gave the agent my mortgage company information, and the agent assured me that Hartford would :take care of the rest". Ihave always used an impound account with my mortgage to pay my insurance, as do most Americans. Two months later, a cancellation notice due to non-payment...along with a bill for 300.00. Hartford failed to contact the mortgage company....so they did not get paid. Hartford then failed to contact me by phone, text or letter to inform me they had not been paid by the Mortgage company as we had agreed to. I called and the agent told me since the mortgage company didn't pay, I somehow should have known, and paid it myself, out of pocket. Be aware.....you have to really follow up with this company. They are very sloppy.
