Applied for a medical leave of absence and the entire process is terrible. They make you jump thru hoop after hoop just to be paid for money you're legally obligated to get and even then you're likely to not be paid anyway. The pay is awful the coverage is awful and the customer service is awful. I wish I could give them zero stars bc that's what they deserve

I've delt with a lot of insurance companies in my 77 years, but Hartford is hands down the very worst. Ran me around collecting proof of hit and run on the other parties part. 3 months of trying to get 911 call logs and [police report. Sent them all the logs of calls proving the other party did run from the scene, but Hartford went to arbitration and stuck me with the deductible. Four months later finally got my car fixed. No communication, lost paperwork, sorry customer service. Wish there was a 0 star available.

I requested COVID sick pay via my employer-required Hartford STD. I submitted ALL the requested documents (including dates of absence Hartford requested at the time of initial contact) to Hartford and my employer...only to have my claim terminated by Hartford. They claim my STD coverage was outside of their pay period as claims start seven days after claim initiation. What?! They paid me $53 (for the last day)! Its much less than one day's pay!!! My employer doesn't know why my claim was terminated and only forwards the ubuiquitous insurance verbage from Hartford. What a mess. What a diservice after paying into the system from every pay period, and not receiving the benfits the Hartford extols. What a nightmare as the Hartford is the only disability insurance offered at my workplace. The frustration of being denied seven days of work pay...after following Hartford's rules...is incredibly frustrating. Luckily, I have accrued a few pennies while I fight for what I deserve (and paid for). Yet, I deserve monies to cover my claim dates based upon Hartford's rules and regulations over-arching my employers policies. I can only think how dangerous it would be for someone living check to check.

A Hartford client ran a red light and hit my 18 year old daughter. The Hartford’s partner in crime, Mitchell, provides estimates on repair cost and comps. You can guess my daughter’s car is a total loss by the Mitchell flawed reports ( I received two, errors in both). Needless to say my daughter will be without a car unless we can find one in the junk yard. Please keep in mind…CarMax and Carvana are selling compatible 2011 maximas for $15,988. I have refused to settle, not sure what my options are at this point without getting a layer involved.

The worst experience. Over 3 weeks trying to get a STD claim done. Cant get a answer from call center. I've sent them requested documentation 3 time's. Alls I get is a text requesting more documents. That I have no idea how to get. The worst application process. as well as customer service. I dutifully pay them. But they discourage you to collect

This is awful awful company. Not only do they jack up the rates but they force you to go paperless JUST TO BE ABLE TO ACCESS YOUR account. They say you can change in settings but why should I have to. I have HATED these guys for years but am stuck with them for now

Initially my STD was denied and then overturned. I contacted the appeals analyst who informed me to contact my original analyst. We'll, the original analyst is working on a project and no voice mail access and there is not an option to contact her backup. One representative provided me with the supervisor number and still no return call. Not a good practice as people are needing answers. My doctor put me off work for 7 days, I completed the return to work in the portal and the return note was uploaded to the case by me. Then my doctor took me back out a few days after my return to work, I contacted Hartford to let them know I was off work again and was informed they didn't know I had returned to work. Excuse me, I told the representative I completed the return to work in the portal he said it's not there. I said I sent in the return note. I asked had medical documents been faxed to my doctor the representative read the fax number and I informed him it was wrong and provided a direct number. However on the portal it still shows the incorrect fax number, which makes me think they are still sending information to the wrong fax number. The medical documents have been faxed more than once. Hartford is unable to locate my paperwork and each representative says the information of receipt is in the portal. Well obviously it's not there, and the deadline is August 22nd. I'm exhausted of getting no answers from anyone from this company. It's more stressful than being away from work.

I was out on disability due to COVID in 2020. These people were the sweetest, calmest people, and understanding people. It was a great experience! They were clear with me and explained everything patiently. This time around I was out again due to COVID, and I don't know where the heck they got these agents from! Firstly each agent I spoke to was overseas, how do they know anything about the laws in my state. Secondly: Initial contact was from someone yelling over the wind in her car. You could tell she was driving, maybe a convertible (?). Ok I figured she must've been on hew way somewhere forgot to get in touch with me (?). Today I call to have my claim explained to me, and right after I tell her my name I heard a rooster crow! And it was loud. I couldn't hear her talking! Disappointed, with the quality of care. Unfortunately I have no choice due to my employer. Just came here to see if others had the same experience recently.
