I was getting our Dog Food from The Farmer’s Dog for a couple of years. Recently the company changed to a second rate delivery service (OnTrac) who delivered this perishable food to the wrong house. I don’t recognize it as any house in my neighborhood. Would no longer recommend anyone buying from The Farmer’s Dog anymore. So sad!

I have a 5lb chihuahua
I have a 5lb chihuahua. She’s a senior dog. She wouldn't eat standard store bought food consistently. I was always having to add something to it and even then she barely wanted to eat. Only did because she had to. Now, since on the farmers dog plan, Chloe eats every meal. She enjoys it. He coat is nicer, her activities are up and she’s happier overall. The only reason I have not given 5 stars is because it’s expensive. I’d like to see a plan that costs less if I subscribe longer. Thanks Farmers Dog. Don’t change the recipe or I’m out.

Chloe is a fresh food fan through and through! It's such a sigh of relief to find a diet that your dog loves and that you can see visible improvements to their well-being from. That said, we completely understand your concern for cost, Denise, and can ensure you we're always looking for ways to lower cost without sacrificing quality or convenience. Please send us an email at [email protected] and our team can look into the most cost-effective plans for you and Chloe!

My senior pup was having lots of digestive issues with her previous food. Ever since I changed her food to the farmer’s dog her digestive system has improved tremendously! :)

Our dog absolutely loves this food
Our dog absolutely loves this food. He is an older rescue dog with some medical conditions. He is much more energetic. No digestive issues & breath is greatly improved. I no longer have to coax him to eat. He now comes to me to let me know it is dinner time! Deliveries are prompt & timely. The customer staff couldn’t be nicer.

Those are big wins in our book! We love getting to be a part of your dog's journey. Thanks for sharing 😊

In violation of FDA requiring ingredients listed on LABEL, not on the website which is also not complete.
After first ordering the trail size I continued to keep the orders coming. For several month I noticed my German Shepherd who had weighed 92 pound lost weight. He started vomiting and had diarrhea. He was taken to the vet for exam and thought he may be allergic to whatever ingredients where in the food. However there is no list of ingredients listed on the single package. I contacted the FDA as far as labeling goes and Pet Food requires that the ingredients be listed on the label. Calling it Human grade food does not release them from listing the ingredients on the Label.
Aside from most of the time it arrived thawed out and not frozen and told that was ok to use and refreeze.
Hi Peter
The Farmer's Dog would love to understand your experience better, so they’ve asked for more details about your review—like an order number or email.
If we don’t hear from you within 3 days, your review may be taken offline.
Add review details
9/24/2023, I added a photo of the food pack. Now they want me to upload a copy of a valid state issued ID. You have to be kidding, all this for a review because it is a negative one?
Update 9/25/23,
Labeling
Federal regulations require ingredients be listed on the product label by their common or usual name in descending order of predominance according to weight (21 CFR 501.4). A common or usual name is one that accurately identifies or describes the basic nature of the ingredient (21 CFR 502.5). FDA has recognized the definitions as they appear in the Official Publication of AAFCO as the common or usual name for animal food ingredients including pet food (Compliance Policy Guide 665.100). There is only one exception to the requirement to list the common or usual name on the label--it is when the ingredient is part of a collective name (term). Regulation 21 CFR 501.110 describes the use of collective names. The following are acceptable collective names: animal protein products, forage products, grain products, plant protein products, processed grain by-products, and roughage products. These collective names may be used in the ingredient list for livestock and poultry feeds, but not pet foods.

Hi Peter, we completely understand how important it is to have confidence in the food you feed your dog. Rest assured, we follow FDA compliance regarding presentation of nutritional information (including ingredients) and include this information on the feeding guide provided in each box we ship. We also include this information through your customer account as an easy resource in case the feeding guide gets thrown out. That said, we'd never take a report of a dog feeling unwell lightly —please reach out to us at [email protected] so that we can learn more about your experience and better support you two.

A company that cares.
I tried The farmers dog over six months ago, but did not continue. Not due to any issues, I’ve just been trying other brands. Recently, I called to restart my subscription, I explained that it was only for my Goldendoodle,Stewie, as my little dog, Stevie had been killed by coyotes. Two weeks later a beautiful house plant arrived with their condolences. I was shocked as I never expected anything like that from a company. I was not a long term customer and I am overwhelmed by there kind gesture. The Farmers Dog really cares!
Response from The Farmer's DogSep 22, 2023
We know nothing could ever replace the love that Stevie brought to your life, but we just wanted you to know that you're in our thoughts. Hope the plant brought a smile to your face! We're sending all our love to both you and Stewie.

Completely Transformed my Older Dog!
My 9 year old Cocker Spaniel was absolutely transformed back into a 5 year old since starting the farmers dog. Before feeding her this (she’s been on it a little less than a year), she was having a hard time jumping on the couch, moving slower, less excited & playful, and she had a big eye tumor growing. Since being on the farmers dog she has incredible energy, jumps not only on the couch but onto the higher bed even, AND her eye tumor is completely gone. She’s been so much more energetic, got back into playing and running, and even her coat is sooo much softer. Now for the eye tumor, I can’t 100% say that it’s from the farmers dog obviously, but what are the chances that she had that for a while and her eyes were pretty cloudy on top of the tumor, and then after a few weeks of eating the farmers dog they completely cleared up? I’m convinced it has to have something to do with feeding her real and nutritious food. I couldn’t recommend this food enough. If you want your dog to live a much longer and fuller life, please for them make the switch. A huge thank you to the Farmers Dog for giving me my playful pup back!!
Response from The Farmer's DogSep 22, 2023
Wow talk about a transformation! It's amazing what real, fresh food can do and we couldn't be happier knowing that your Cocker Spaniel is full of energy and that her tumor has vanished. We can't wait to hear about all the incredible memories you continue to make together. Thanks so much for sharing your experience, Sarah 🧡

Awful batch of Farmer's Dog and customer service couldn't care less
I have been feeding Farmer's Dog to my 2 yo Golden Retriever for a few months now, he definitely was absorbing nutrients more than on his previous kibble. The last shipment of Farmer's Dog we received was completely defrosted, and even though they state you can "freeze it again and it's safe" our dog has been sick ever since we started feeding him the bad batch. Upon contacting the customer service of Farmer's Dog, we heard back that it's not their fault and there is nothing they can do as long as 1 pack out of the 19 was even one bit frozen then it's all good in their mind.
That's how they care about their customers and dogs.
Thanks for basically sending me a spoiled $200 batch of food.
Will be switching to a brand that definitely cares more about the dogs that are eating their food.
