I sold a book and paid money out of my pocket because with USPS, the seller has to pay for postage. They say UPS is prepaid, but nowhere can you find a label to print. I promptly packaged and mailed the book to the seller as soon as I was notified that the book sold. Now, I will not get my payment until 3 weeks after I shipped the book.. Something is fishy about this. I spent money of mine out of pocket to ship the book, the buyer gave money to them, and I am out of a book and money because they send money out to sellers only2 times a month. SHADY SHADY practice. Bad place to buy a book - never come back
After 4 days for ordering the book, this email sent it to me:

TEXTBOOKX.COM regrets to inform you that your order 2303769 has been CANCELED and will not be shipped to you. Marketplace items are canceled or confirmed by the individual sellers. Retail items are canceled due to a shortage of stock in our warehouse. Please be assured that you will not be billed for this order. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Do you know when was the school start? Time is importand for the student come in the class without a books. You should let the buyer soon as possible instead of few days later. How could you charge the customer without delievery? My advise for you is "be more professional seller"

Horrible experience!
Ordered one book & they sent a completely differently book title by different authors & in the Czech language! It was not a marketplace 3rd party order, Apparently they don't look at titles before they ship. It took 4 days for a response by email & no apology was given & they blamed it on their shipper who they said they would contact to see if the ISBN had been reused (not supposed to happen). 10 days later, 4 emails, 1 phone call (I had to contact the BBB to get that) & after filing a reversal from my credit card company, THEN the CS "manager" responds with 'their shipper won't respond to them & that sometimes out of print books are reissued ISBN's. That was a lie, ISBNs are never reissued from out of print books nor any other books. If it is done it is done illegally but this CS manager was clueless about the process & trying to deny any responsibility while at the same time finally issuing a refund at the point of a credit card company transaction dispute. The comment I've read by them below of Textbookx claiming they always respond in 24-48 hours is also a lie, Like I said it too 4 days for a response the first time & 10 more days the 2nd time. Still no apology for THEIR mistake. They will not advertise their phone number likely because they would be deluged with complaints. Their feedback here says it all.

Hi Mark,
We actually do not sell any Intl. Editions and any and all of our Used titles would come from 3rd party sellers or outside vendors. I am unable to comment on your exact case because all you've left is your first name and not your order ID. We answer any and all of our emails within 24 to 48 hours I could also check your email to see if we ever received one from you. If you emailed a 3rd party seller it's possible they took longer to respond they are considered their own entity and do not follow our policies. Again, I can't comment on specifics because you did not leave any specific information your order. There are times when publishers will reuse ISBNs we've seen this when titles are out of copyright and are considered free like ebooks you've seen on Gutenberg.org, outside entities can print those titles and use ISBNs so we've run into issues where books will have the same ISBN. It does sound like an outside vendor shipped the item because as I said we do not carry used titles typically those come from outside vendors like Ingram, FirstClass or TBC. It sounds like this was just a warehouse shipper error but if you've received the refund then there really isn't more we can do for you. I'm glad you were able to get the refund though because if you were sent the wrong book you should not pay for an item you did not order. I'm sure you can also tell by the responses to the feedback on this site that many times it is not necessarily our fault.

worst service ever
This is by far the worst textbook company i've ever deal with. I ordered two books on overnight shipping for an extra $50...so you'd expect your books on time...wrong. When I called I spoke to Jackie a "supervisor" who continued to tell me i'm an idiot and that every supervisor and manager would agree with her. UM Jackie I was asking about my $300 book that is supposed to be here tomorrow but hasn't even shipped yet...SO then their is the blatant false advertising. They pretty much only sell binder books which are "unsellable" to any sell back company including colleges/ the funny thing is they actually advertise on their sites that these are actual textbooks, how do i know this? After a horrible experience last semester with this same company I've taken a screenshot every time I've ordered something from them..(I have to use a book voucher to order my books, thus being stuck with this awful company). The horrible experience was that my whole french class got screwed over when purchasing their text books, because they falsely claimed this was an actual book(it wasn't, it was access to the homework site) we all ending up buying our book off Amazon after 15 people in my class were yelled at and called names by the employees here. After all is said and done the employee Jackie is one of the rudest employee's i've ever dealt with. After speaking with her for a mere 5 minutes I was berated, called names, and never had a single question answered. Although she had another time to question my intelligence...classy Jackie. I hope your job is secure enough to call names and not get in trouble for it. ALL IN ALL DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND NEVER ORDER ANYTHING FROM HERE

Megan, we saw the post that you tried to make on our Facebook page and now on here and it was brought to our attention that you made comments regarding the Supervisor Jacki. We listened to the call that you made (because we record all calls) to our call center department and at no time did Jacki ever call you an "idiot" nor did she act in an inappropriate way towards you. She was quite patient with you and attempted to explain that you indeed got the item you purchased.
The book that was adopted for your class was Thinking Mathematically, Books a la Carte Edition Plus MyMathLab with Pearson EText -- Access Card Package this was adopted for your class by your professor he/she chose this book. We state on our site that the Binding of this is a Bundle and in the title is states it is a Books a la Carte edition, a textbook is a type of book like a Romance Novel or a Fiction or NonFiction book it is not a type of binding. A type of binding would be a Hardcover, Paperback, LL (Loose Leaf), Bundle, etc. I was unavailable at the time that you called and Jacki informed me that you hung up on her and weren't there when I was ready to take your call. If you take issue with the type of binding that your professor chose it would behoove you to speak directly with your professor regarding this as we do not pick the specific binding or even the specific book for your class. Also please be aware we do say that we record all calls and we do in fact listen to them.
To address your book not shipping, we informed you when you placed the order that the publisher Cengage ships in 1-3 BUSINESS days. You placed your order on 1/19 and it was confirmed by the publisher on 1/19 today is the 2nd business day. The item should go out tomorrow and will go out to you Next Day Air which is the method of shipment you chose. We explain our shipping rates and how shipment works at the link below but I'll copy and paste the info for you here.
WHAT ARE THE SHIPPING CHARGES, METHODS, AND DELIVERY TIMES?
We offer multiple shipping options so you can choose the one that best suits your needs. To calculate the total time until your order is delivered, please add the time-to-ship found alongside each book's listing to the transit-time assigned to your selected service level. Keep the following equation in mind:
Time-To-Ship + Transit-Time = Total Delivery Time
Example: You order a book that is available to ship in 1-2 business days (appears as "usually ships in business days") and choose "UPS Ground Shipping" (2-5 days). You can expect to receive your books 3-7 business days after your order is submitted.

Also you can sell this book back on our site as a Used book just as you would any other book. I've unfortunately had to inform your school of both your Facebook post and now this review as most if not all of it is completely false. Since we work so closely with the schools we expect a certain amount of respect towards our employees when students call in to our customer service.

Buyer Beware
"I ordered a new textbook and it showed up completely damaged! The company blamed the mail carrier but the soft cover book was poorly packaged which would inevitably lead to damage in any sort of inclement weather. The customer service was a joke, offering a measly 10% discount for a "brand new," totally unusable book. "
Response from TextbookXJan 21, 2016
Kate, yes whenever items leave our warehouse they are packaged for delivery and if you purchased New that is the condition they should arrive in. There are some times however when during transit an item may be knocked around or left in the rain by the mail carrier in which case this can damage the book. We always offer to replace the item but if we no longer have stock on the item we will offer a 10% discount for the damage. If the book is still in useable condition there is no reason a customer would need to lose valuable homework time by returning and buying a new one so we feel it's best to give a discount. We'd rather the student keep the book and not miss work in class then be inconvenienced with trying to source a new one. You can sell the book on our site as a used copy which you could do even if it wasn't damaged and make money back on it when you are done with it. Our used books sell very quickly because students like the affordability of purchasing a book Used rather than New.

Never Again
I ordered a textbook for my Forensic Assessment course on 9/25/15, which was for ISBN 9780078035302 and what I received is ISBN 9789814577014. If you look them up, what I received is the international edition. TextbookX states that the third party that they allowed to sell on their site noted that it was an international edition, though it was listed under the 9780078035302 ISBN that I was looking to purchase. In the email confirming my purchase, it confirms that I purchased ISBN 9780078035302, not an international edition that would be completely useless to my coursework and unsellable! Save your time and money and go somewhere else!
Response from TextbookXJan 5, 2016
Heather, you've been responded to by someone in customer service already. The seller has issued a refund to you for the item. The seller listed this book on our site and in the comments said that it was an Intl. Edition and you purchased this item. The purchase was made in September 2015 and you just notified us today the 5th of January 2016 that you were unhappy with the book. It is not illegal to sell Intl. Editions in fact it is perfectly legal and cheaper than buying the U.S. edition for the same exact book. You purchased the item directly from the 3rd party seller knowing it was an Intl. Edition and not from our company directly, instead of contacting CS for assistance you posted a very unprofessional review on our Facebook page. Our social media team does not field customer service issues and they also do not issue refunds to customers that is all done via the HELP link which is at the top of our webpage and readily available to every customer at any point during their visit to our page. I would suggest in the future when shopping online that you read thoroughly through a seller's comments on what they are selling that way you can make an informed educated decision on whether you would like to purchase that item or if you'd rather purchase from someone else. Thank you.

I do not recommend!
I ordered one of my textbooks from TextbookX as they had great prices and they could get it here on time. I placed my order at 11:20 AM. The money for this book was removed from my account at 11:21 AM. At 3:04 PM that afternoon I received an email stating the seller had cancelled my order. I checked my bank account and the money had not bee returned. I waited until the next day and the money was still not returned. I called customer service was astonished at how rude the girl was. She said that I had to wait one to two days for the money to be returned to my account. Well I live on a budget and so I cannot order this book elsewhere until that money is back in my account. Long story short I will most likely not have my book for the first day of classes. Thanks for nothing TextbookX.com!
To your reply:
I understand the hold and realize this is a standard for the banks to do. However when living on a fixed income I can't just go and spend another $170 while waiting for the original to come back as you have suggested. I reviewed my experience with your site and this is part of it. As for having cheap books yes that is a plus but not if orders are cancelled then the price really does nothing for the customer. With all that said you really should focus on your customer service as you made no reply to that. The majority of the reviews I have read have negative comments on your customer service and this is where you should focus. I should not call a company for help and be talked to rudely.

Hello, you are likely seeing the pending authorization in your bank account for the purchase you made on our site. Pending authorization are holds in your bank account by your bank so that when a company does come in for payment the money is there for the company to take, if the company does not come in for payment the bank will drop the funds back into your account after 2-7 days. It really depends on your bank's policies and how long their hold times are for pending auths. This is actually an industry standard and not just something that our company does it's a banking rule and you can find this on most bank websites under their FAQ or Help pages. Our 3rd party sellers maintain their own inventories so it's possible it was a timing issue, if they had one copy of an item left and someone bought that copy just before you did that is why they had to cancel your order. You were notified via email shortly after the order was cancelled so you'd have ample time to either order it new or order from another seller on our site. We're glad we were the cheapest price we try to provide the best prices we can and our Marketplace sellers help us with that. Hopefully you can purchase a book from us in the future. Thank you!
