Will never use again - Fraudulent.
I purchased a textbook bundle for my classes. This bundle included hardback books and equivalent electronic books. The bundle was $2000 (roughly). Within a week, I receive an email that some of the items in the bundle were backordered, and shipment will be delayed. I called to inquire about how long it would take, and if nothing else if electronic book cards from my bundle could be shipped, and the rest of it shipped when the stock arrived. I got a response stating "We are sorry, sir - but the bundle will all come in one shipment, we can not break it apart" After about a month, I received a box. I was so excited! I opened up the box to find 10 out of the 21 books that were supposed to be in the bundle. WAIT A MINUTE?.. I thought that the bundles couldn't be broken up. There were no electronic book cards in the box either. Awesome! Classes are fully in session and I have half of my books, barely. I contacted customer service, and they instructed me to email what books I received (You would figure they would have record of what books they put in the box, but I guess not.) I emailed my university's marketplace coordinator, with all books I received and those that I did not. She stated she would work with them from here. After about 1.5 months, I was provided the electronic books by the publisher. This result occurred, because my professor called the publishers and worked out a deal. At this time, I have not received any messages from textbook or any correspondent. Now here we are, 10/12/2016, borderline 2 months after classes started. I still do not have my books that I paid for. The publisher took a hit monetarily to provide me Electronic books that textbookx did not provide me. I did, however, receive an email today from them. "Hello Clay, Firstly I would like to apologize for the delay on our part in attempting to resolve your issue with your bundle. Although we're glad to hear the publisher was able to send the missing items at their expense to you, we feel you deserve more for your unnecessary delay and want to do our part to compensate you directly. Below is a code that can be used on the *** University's online bookstore to purchase your books for next term. It has a value of $100. Kind Regards, TextbookX Team" I would like to preface the next segment with 'Thank you.' Thank you for the kind email, and the offer of $100 for my troubles. However... You are glad that the publisher sent books (I was provided Ebooks, not my hardback books) to me at THEIR OWN expense so you didn't have to send books at YOUR expense? More like MY expense at this time. You are glad that I provided you $2000 for a book set, and you sent maybe $500 worth of books to me., and aren't required to pay the publisher or me our money back for services you did not provide? As payment for not having books for half my semester, you felt bad and gave me $100 to use at your store. Thanks, but no thanks. I will not be using your services again. I welcome you to provide that discount to the next person you can con. Maybe if you are lucky, the publisher will send their books at their expense, so that you can rake in the profits. At least you were nice in the email.. That is a start. However, that does not justify any more stars than 1. I would give 0 stars if I could. It is a fraud to charge for a service, and not deliver that service. It is a fraud to have another company provide the service at their own expense, and you not refund my money to me so that I may properly pay the publisher for their service. I will be contacting a lawyer about getting my money back. I would not recommend using this company. There are much better places to order books that will not fraudulently take your money, make you wait ages for books under a façade of a backorder, then pass the expense to another company.
