Saturday at 8 PM my chairlift stopped working. I was midway up the stairs. Being disabled I could not climb down or climb up. My husband called and we were told someone would call us back. We waited half an hour. Nobody called back. We called again. We waited half an hour. Nobody called us back. The third time we called the representative finally said nobody is going to call us back tonight. When the tech called us Sunday morning, he said there would be a labor charge. I said we pay $525 a year for the service contract. He said the labor charge is extra because it’s after hours. It is $345. I showed him the contract and there was no mention of a weekend labor charge. My first complaint is that the two representatives we spoke with did not divulge that nobody would call us back or come out on a Saturday night. This was very disconcerting as I am disabled. I just got off the phone with a supervisor who is changing the contract to reflect that even though you pay for the yearly service contract, there will be a $345 labor charge and if you do not have the parts Covered under your yearly contract, the parts will also be extra. I tried to impress upon him how frightening it is to not be able to get up to your bedroom or down to the living space in your own home. I was very disappointed in the way this was handled. On a positive note, all of the techs that we have Encountered over the years have been wonderful. Caveat emptor. Stannah will leave you high and dry if their unit malfunctions over the weekend In response to Stannah’s reply, I requested that a supervisor called me. I also mentioned this to the tech who came out. On Monday, not over the weekend as Stannah states I called Stannah on Monday and was finally transferred to a supervisor. Bottom line the contract that I signed for the $525 yearly charge mentioned nothing regarding after hours or the necessity of having to call the fire department if it’s after hours and you don’t wanna pay the $345 fee on top of the $525. Our stairway is very narrow and there was no way my husband could help me up or down the stairs. If you are in the business of helping people that are disabled, then don’t have such a miserable attitude toward them when something that they depend on for the living cannot be serviced in a timely manner. I was able to inch up the chair over and over again to finally get to the top of the stairs so I could go to bed. In the event of an emergency, I don’t know what I would’ve done. It was the supervisor that I spoke with on Monday that mentioned they don’t knock down doors. I said you would not have to knock down a door not only was my husband home, but my neighbor has a key. That was his justification for not having people on call in the event of emergencies. I was extremely disappointed that I had to make another phone call in order to speak with the supervisor and they never reached out to me. They shouldn’t lie on trust pilot to make themselves look better.

We want to clarify some inaccuracies you stated in your review. After discussing with our team and checking our records, you spoke with our service manager during the weekend, and together, you reached an understanding regarding after-hours service and charges. Additionally your call came in outside of our extended weekend service hours, 8pm on Saturday. Our extended hours are Saturday and Sunday from 9 AM to 3 PM, excluding holidays. That said, we apologize if there was any miscommunication regarding our weekend service policies. However, both the purchase contract and service contract clearly state our hours of operation and the details of our extended service availability. We prioritized your request and had a technician respond first thing Sunday morning. Your lift was serviced that same day, ensuring you were not left stranded over the weekend. However, you posted this review on Monday, which does not accurately reflect the situation. We strive to provide excellent customer service and do our best to accommodate urgent requests, even beyond our standard hours. If you have any further concerns, please reach out directly so we can assist you, 1-888-680-4073. Sincerely, The Stannah Team

Installation was completed fast and efficient, including operational explanation and test run. Technician was very competent and friendly. We were amazed that it all happened in less than 4 hours including cleanup.

In late 2019, I purchased a Stannah chairlift model 285 with a curved rail. A year later, this model was discontinued. When the chair stops functioning, which is often, the wait time for it to be fixed is lengthly. Repair parts are not carried in the local warehouse causing long wait times of several weeks for my chairlift to be repaired. This is coupled with a high turnover of company technicians that are knowledgeable of the model 285 chairlift, as they have to consult with a technician(s) located on the East Coast. (I live on the West Coast.) Again, the lead time for repair is very long. I’ve asked Stannah to remedy this, and the only solution they could give me was to install two straight chairlifts which would mean that I would get off the first lift at the landing, then get on the 2nd one leading to the top of stairs. This is an unacceptable solution! In early 2025 Stannah sold the maintenance of their chairlifts to another company, causing the waittime to repair my chairlift to worsen. I am a senior disabled person and require the use of a chairlift in my home. Purchasing a new lift is not a financial possibility. UPDATE: It’s 2/17/25 and I haven’t heard back from Stannah yet.

we were not aware the railing had to be removed. Eric asked if he could do it, which involved cutting wall plaster around the hardware holding the railing. He did a nice clean job and but put it in my cellar. He was very professional and explained in detail my questions on the installation. He did a great job.
