Misrepresentation
I recently made a purchase online with Sephora in Malaysia as there was a gift of an umbrella with that purchase. I did not receive the umbrella with the purchased item. There was also no advice from the company as to what happened. It was only when I gave my feedback that their customer service informed that they had run of umbrellas. I was offered 50 points in exchange of the gift. The offer was then upped to 100 points when I pointed out that the promotion based on the gift was a misrepresentation as they knew that it would not be honored. Had I been informed in a shop that the gift was no longer available, I would have walked away. In addition, they should have offered the free points in exchange of the gift before the order was placed so that customers could decide whether to proceed with their purchases. They have contravened the very basic fair trading practices. The company should take a good look at their customer service if it plans to remain in business. Their merchandise is easily available elsewhere. It is the customer service which differentiate a trustworthy company from one which isn't.
