Bad recommendations from customer service destroyed my chair
Poor recommendations from customer service destroyed my chair, but because I caused the damage no refund. I reached out for help because my chair was not going down. I found out that I incorrectly installed the cylinder of my Steelcase Leap V2 that they sent me. The videos they sent me to disconnect and resemble the cylinder correctly damaged my frame because they suggested for me to take a metal hammer to it. Then they sent me a video to put duct tape around the center of the cylinder and use a vice grip wrench to twist it loose. That resulted in me chewing up the cylinder in the center. So, I did a simple google search on how to disassemble a Steelcase Leap V2 and found a youtube video from a legit company. I was able to disconnect the seat from the cylinder easily with a pipe wrench at the top of the cylinder and put the cylinder in correctly. However, the cylinder is shot now because their video that instructed me to use the duct tape with a vise grip chewed up the cylinder. So it will go down now, but won't go up because the cylinder is chewed up and cylinder locks going back up on the chewed metal in the lowest seating position. So I went onto ebay and just bought a replacement cylinder for $60 because it was cheaper then the restocking fee for them taking it back. Plus, they most likely wouldn't because it was not a manufacturer defect. I caused the damaged based off their videos they sent me to dissemble it. User error.
