We were asked to bring a driving licence and my children's passports when we made an appointment to open children's bank accounts for our daughters. After going thought the usual routine waiting for the appointment, data entry, ID checks, the clerk went to photocopy the ID documents. She then returned saying she couldn't process the accounts as my wife had a different surname to our children.

Santander is a absolute joke. Been with them since I was about 16 and now I’ve decided I’m changing banks for good! It seems like the rules change constantly, usually I can transfer money over the phone with their team today I got told that was not possible as I have online banking despite the fact I’ve had online banking for a year and transferred over the phone with them before... I refuse to use there app as the majority of the time it never works properly. The contactless stops working on the cards easily, they block your account when they feel like it and it’s embarrassing when you are in a shop paying for something and your card bounces despite the fact you know that there is money in your account. For an international, global bank the service is TERRIBLE. I’m changing to nationwide.

Decided to change from HSBC to santander WORST DECISION EVER!! Chose the switcher service. After 2 whole days thought better of it and tried to cancel the process. COMPUTER SAYS NO!!!! Outrageous being transfered from department to department and at the end. . . Sorry there is nothing we can do. Here is the complaints number. Made a complaint and at the end of this 40 minute call told that the complaint will be looked into within 8 weeks. I've got 2 working days left before my old account is closed!! Absolutely awful process. The terms and conditions contradict each other. Very bad!! Once done will switch back and put an even bigger complaint in and claim undue stress compensation. Watch this space!!

I am utterly dissatisfied with Santander Zero Credit Card. My credit card balance is set up to be paid by DD. This month Santander decided to take about 65% of the full payment. Why??? Last month I contacted them about a purchase I made because I didn’t receive the product. Santander was not helpful! I have no other choice but to close my account with them.

Awful awful awful customer service. I called because I had fraudulent charges and all they did was treat me like it was my fault and were impatient when I didn't have everything they asked for right away. Switching now to a local bank. Forget U Santander.

I really don't understand all the bad reviews here. I've been with them for about eight years, and just wish I'd moved over (from First Direct) sooner.

They are so useless, the sad part is I've been with them for 5 years and I'm just now noticing. They sent me a new debit, it took forever to come but that's not the problem the problem is when I called them for the tracking number they said they can't get it for me, so you sent me something and have no way of tracking it? wonderful. I asked them a number of question and they couldn't help me with one. Then has the audacity to ask me "is there anything else I can help you with?" what did you help me with from the beginning....
