Sana lies
Sana lies. They lie about who is in their network. They list several doctors as in their network, then when you call the doctors office, they are not. They also lie about what healthcare networks are in their network. For instance, they say on their website that Baylor Scott & White is in network, but they are not. Sana say "after you make your appointment, we will reach out to the health care provider and see if they will take their benefits." But this process takes several days, and ... what happens if the doctor or healthcare system then doesn't. They tell you that they will issue a VISA card to give to the doctors that are out of network, but this is not true either. After you have booked an appointment, and after you have gone to the doctor and find out the embarrassment of the office not accepting the Sana insurance, ONLY THEN will they issue the VISA card. Guess what? The doctors office makes you pay BEFORE you leave the office, and they charge you the non-contracted (much higher) rate. So, the VISA card pitch is a scam, too. When I asked one of the representatives what happens if I have to go to the hospital and the hospital (Baylor Scott & White, for instance) doesn't take my insurance, her response was "Don't worry about it. We will take care of it later." That is their answer? Finally, this is a disaster for anyone on an HSA. You go to the doctor who is most likely not in Sana's network (like non of the 9 doctors my wife and I use were), you have to pay for your services out of your HSA, but guess what? You pay the noncontracted (higher) rate. Stay away from this company, unless you just like taking a lot of time out of your life to struggle with billing and insurance issues.
