PVC pipe with a garden faucet broke off at bottom of faucet. It was late in the day and had to shut off water to house. Lakewood, CA is the area serviced. Roto Rooter person showed up said it would be $492 to repair the PVC connection and replace the faucet. Had to go to Home Depot to get the parts that cost approximately $20 but person said, “we do a mark-up on the cost of parts 2 times the amount.” Aftermath is feeling deceived and overcharged for a simple repair. Will never use service again and will spread the word of the rip off.

Stay Away
Be aware that they will send you a 30 day preliminary notice of intent to lien on your home automatically before you even see a detailed bill or have had a chance to pay on any service they estimate to be over $3000. When asked they say everyone gets it. Use another company if you want a stress free experience.

Charged me a part for $125
Charged me a part for $125, and the actual value is $47. Someone from the branch called me, and tell me this is the markup price... 3 times of markup price.. Unbelievable.
The work is good, but the price is way too high. Better to find some other plumber.

All I had was two pluming issues told to fix. Next thing i notice they total took apsrt three of apartments floors and walls. They total lied to me said we are not plumbers we just do migration work Didn’t even give me an estimate on work they completed. Said didn’t have to give me one. And through the process asked are y sure this is all covered by my insurance and found out one apartment is not covered. So know we are going to court . All I had was pluming issues. And when the job was done I turn the water on and was another leek they said were not responsible for. They took advantage of me.

We thought They Were Honest
We called Roto-Rooter as we thought they were an honest company. We needed our dishwasher hooked up correctly when they discovered a leak. They told us we had galvanized piping and needed to re-pipe our entire house! The quote was $35,000.00 dollars! We're elderly not stupid! We called another plumber who also Recommended, a re-piping. His estimate...$14,000.00!!
We had it done the next week. Don't used Rotor-Rooter!~

Urgent need for sump pump replacement during weekend. Was charged for almost $1100 (part and labor). R-R refused to give written warranty and pump model number even after three requests.

Roto Rooter is deceptive and…
Roto Rooter is deceptive and untrustworthy. They processed two claims with our insurance for two different days, although they occurred on the same day. When they learned it was a water issue, they immediately brought in their emergency restoration team, which turned out to be unnecessary since the water that was leaking turned out to be clean. We have been fighting with our insurance company ever since because of the astronomical increase that we experienced in our premium due to our involvement with Roto Rooter. They charged an exorbitant amount to fix an issue that was not that major, and then left us on the hook with the insurance company after being paid.

Roto-Rooter, a total rip off!!!
A total rip off! Should have hired a handyman to snake the clog for about $70/hr, instead paid $400 for clearing the clog, camera inspection and 6 month warranty on their job. The technicians who cleared the clog and did camera inspection are different, who came on 2 different days. Upon camera inspection by Jonathan, things seem to be all fine with sewer lines, so we called upon the previous technician (Patrick) to send the receipt for payment with the promised 6 month warranty. That's when the game has changed!!! Jonathan called us back, explaining that there are sewer line issues, there are hangers, etc and our 6 month warranty is voided due to this. Upon asking him for more details on the area of inspection, exact location and some pictures, now he says that he cannot send any such details and need to pay extra ($800) and he was not sure if he has inspected the right location (seems like communication issues between Patrick and Jonathan). Upon clarifying things, he hung up the phone saying that there is a communication problem and someone from the company would call us to sort it out. There was a text message after a while that someone would call us from the company but there was none, so far.
We approach big companies to help customer's resolve their problems, help us understand the unknowns but not ripping us off, whenever possible!
