Dishonest Plumbing Company . Dishonest Unethical Plumbers are Hired here. Stay away because they will lie about the issue to swindle you to make thousands of dollars worth of REPAIRS you may never need. When my Sump Pump was working perfectly fine I was NOT informed that everything is Ok and good but instead scared to believe the fact that the entire Sump pump was damaged and needed replacement. I was handed a huge recommendation Charge for having it done that would cost me over four thousand dollars. Has been a year now and Not needed any of such repairs and Sump Pump is not had any issues till this day, knock on the Wood. But you may think why did I call Roto Rooter in the first Place to begin with ? It was because of a Gullible Family member that though sump pump was making a sound when spitting out water needed to be checked. So instead of ROTO ROOTER Plumber saying the Truth that it is fine lied and left a huge Dollars amount worth of expense to repair it instead.

We are a small business that needed a 3-sink sanitation station. Called Roto-Rooter in Brooklyn, NY. They quoted me a very high price (said so many things needed to be fixed, and gave me an estimate of $300 of parts. Well, after he installed the sink (that after a month has now a leak!!!), he told me that it was $750 for parts! I had to call his supervisor, and after a lot of telling me that it was not their fault we settled at around $500...wosrt service ever, terrible work, and now I need to find another plumber to fix the leak, STAY AWAY FROM THEM!

We had a clogged 2 inch drain coming from the kitchen sink, we called Roto Rooter he came out and identified where the clog was located and charged us 350.00 for locating the clog. He said he was coming back the next day with the pressure truck to clear the drain out. When he came back the next day he did not have the pressure truck. He cut a hole in our pipe and ran the camera/ snake in the pipe for about 30 feet and lied to us and said the drain was clear. He did not repair our pipe back and charged us an additional 650.00. The next day the pipe started backing up again. We called the manager to complain, the manager started making excuses saying his technician ran the snake 100 feet. We rented a 50 foot snake and ran it into the pipe until we hit something. We pulled the snake out and measured the distance on top of the ground that the snake had went into the pipe. We then cut the pipe at the clog we hit and found a clog of grease in the pipe. We then inserted the snake into the pipe where we cut it which cleared the pipe all the way to the city’s main. We then put a clean out where Roto Rooter had cut our pipe and then we repaired the pipe where we found the clog at. We then ran water from the kitchen sink for about 30 minutes and we haven’t had any more problems with the drain. Roto Rooter is a RIP OFF and we demand a refund!

Please use someone else. Roto Rooter is a ripoff. Labor is charged by the day even if they only work 1 hour. They worked 1.5 hours and said they needed to come back the next day for a variety of reasons. I now know that was all bs, and they just wanted to overcharge us for labor. It’s a scam. Please go elsewhere.

We called Roto Rooter out to look at a slow/non flush toilet. The diagnosis was a clog in the main sewer line. They proceeded to tell us that the line needed to be Jetted and we said ok, after RR tried this procedure they could not make that work and resorted to an auger which pulled out some roots that were from the county side pipe not from our sewer line. That was all they could do and recommended that we cut down a tree. We still had an issue with the toilet flushing after they left and we called another plumbing company out and they were able to clear the line for a third of the cost. Please do yourself a favor DO NOT use ROTO ROOTER for any plumbing tasks.

If you need a plumber, it is usually for something bad. Our experience with Roto-Rooter was something bad and then some. Some mischievous grandkids flushed a few trinkets down the toilet. Due to it being a holiday weekend "Memorial Day", the only plumber we could reach was Roto-Rooter. After removing the items, it seemed that the drain was clear and flushing again. The next day the toilets were not flushing so we called Roto-Rooter. They removed another Super Hero. So far we are looking at a bill of $1700+,. On Monday they came to check that all was well. At that time they conducted a video in the drain which showed rot, rust and ruin to the sewer pipe. We needed to replace the entire sewer pipe from the house to the street. Although he price seemed outrageous especially when some friends said they paid about $10K less than us we signed the contract. So mistake 2 on our part for not getting estimates. Once the yard was dug up and new pipe installed, we had a very dangerous mountain of clay and an open trench for over a month The open trench was not closed until the township threatened a fine. Mistake3, so late July over a month from the date the pipe was installed they closed the trench that ran 50 yards from the house to the street. The dirt was not level or graded until I called the township regarding the complaints from neighbors about safety and the eyesore of our front lawn. Numerous calls to the company only resulted in empty promises and little response. On August 1, the backhoe arrived and tamped the dirt covering the trench leaving mounds of uneven ground while the sidewalk which they demolished is still covered with rock and dirt. The initial Township inspection failed back in July however the company said they were unaware. Tomorrow, August 8, the township is coming to do another inspection and will fail them again since they have not complied with the previous items that failed. I don't think RotoRooter deserves even 1 Star. Pictures can be viewed on BBB.

Long story short, we have spent over $6000 since 2020. In 2020 replaced 2 water heaters, one broke in 2022 and the other one almost blew in 2024! Update - the customer service manager reached out and I was hopeful a resolution would be presented but they have decided to ignore legitimate complaints. Here is part of my conversation with the manager. It is my understanding that someone will be by to do a water test. While I can appreciate the effort, I'm not quite sure what this will accomplish at this point in the process. While the technician was installing the water heater (Monday the 15th) he made mention that hard water could be harmful and perhaps we should look into a water softener. We mentioned that we do have a water softener. Now, we're being told that a water test should be done because perhaps the water softener may be "eating the lining" of the water tanks. Well, which is it? Regardless of what the water test may show (which requires additional time away from work for either my husband or myself), shouldn't this have been done prior to the initial installation back in 2020 to have prevented any issues and/or to have installed a water heater that is compatible with whatever type of water we have, hard or soft? They did come do a water test and concluded our water is "perfect". It was also mentioned that the products from big box stores are not reliable and directly from a supplier would last several years more and better quality. Our issue is that we were NEVER given an option! We would have opted for the better quality product! There is a lack of consistent, accurate information and RR cannot be trusted. Point is, RR is not consistent with the information they give you and will install crap products so they can purposefully charge you labor to fix mistakes that they create!

Total scam. Showed up an hour late. Had no clue how to do job. I diagnosed everything and gave the employee clear instructions what to do. Told me he wasn't sure if he could complete the simple repair but was sure he could snake the other problem. 40 minutes work. Was quoted $1,100 and the kid showed no confidence he could make simple repairs....asked them to leave. I'll do it myself.
