Poor excuse for a financial institution!

PEOPLE OF COLOR, that are citizens, or new immigrants of color married, or not to a U.S. citizen DO NOT USE THIS BANK IF YOU WANT A HONEST ONE. They highly discriminate . I am a white man with a top secret clearance and married a year to a Jamaican woman who I have been with for over 3 years that she was living here and going to college for her masters degree. The bank never seen or met me. I was smart enough to use bank America in Saint louis where I work. My wife working her first job in highland illinois wanted her bank in the town where she works as a nurse and also to have her bi-weekly checks deposited. Every since she opened the account checking and savings, the bank kept suspending her card for unknown activities, and never explained why. She was not sending or receiving any money overseas. She only used it to receive, and save some of her salary. Everytime she only called them and they would quickly unsuspend it. No reason given ever. Then after 4-6 weeks they finally completely closed her checking account only. Again with no reason. She called and asked everyone in person also several times, only including the bank manager and a assistant. They both could give any answers and after several complaints, they kept promising her answers quickly but never had any after each time she talked to them. The funny thing is after her 4th time talking to them, I went in with her and they promised me the same. Originally when the account was closed she called the number on her card and they said only the bank could tell her why it was closed, yet for 2 weeks even the bank manager claimed that no one higher than him could tell him why, yet he could not reopen it either. The only thing we know is in common is that everyone we talked to so far is completely white I. This bank, and claim that can't get any answers. Part of my secret clearance also means my wife and her family had to be vetted by the government homeland security and FBI. Also her father was a life long police Sargent and retired now in Jamaica. So again what reason this corrupt discriminative bank have for closing a bank account with over $500.00 fron a honest woman married to a government employed American man who both have no record, other than she is a black woman from Jamaica??? Her job is even employed as a nurse a hard working honorable job not drug dealing. It took her 2 weeks to even get her money back from the bank and ecause she continues until now to get it reopened or a reason why closed, she never received her last check last week either since it was closed and could not receive a direct deposit, which ow will take 2 weeks linger for her next check if she has to open another bank account some where else. If anyone of color reads this please think twice before you use this bank as it clearly does not honor or respect any of you as outstanding people like they do all other white people. If anyone knows a good bank that respects people of color in the highland or greenville, Illinois location, please text me the info at 314-308-3598. If anyone of color also had similar issues please also text me this info. I am currently going to send this and post this with every black lives matter, and discrimination groups in the southern Illinois and st. Louis area. Remember think twice before using any Regions bank.

I am writing a review based on my experiences at 2 Regions Branches in Alabaster, AL. First, I was co-signer on an account for a service organization from 2014-18. Then the service was excellent and we had no issues for the 4 years we used Regions. However, in June 2022, I opened a personal account. The service since then has not been good. First, I opened an account because I needed a document notarized. I had already gone to my other bank for this, but no notary was available in these. I decided to stop at Regions. The guy was eager to help me until he found that I did not have an account. I really needed the document notarized and I had been considering changing banks so I gave in to the coercion and opened a checking account with a $5000 deposit. The guy was supposed to order checks for me, but kept getting distracted and getting up to go somewhere else. He finally returned and I thought everything was in order with my account and I had my document notarized. I never received any checks. At first no big deal because I wasn't planning on using the account anytime soon. However, months passed and no checks. I finally went to another branch because there had been some fraudulent charge on my debit card which I had only used twice to get some cash. They closed the card, gave me another, and ordered the checks. The checks were at a ridiculously high price to me. I ordered the minimum amount. (I have not written a check on the account more than a year later.) My wife had issues with her debit card. Her's was replaced twice. Again, she might have used the card once or twice. I went to the bank about this. We did have an issue with a credit card from another source that had fraudulent charges so we used our debit card in April 2023 for less than $300 in charges with no issues. Now July 2023 comes and neither card has been used since April. However, I have another fraudulent charge show up July 12. I went online and after chatting with AI first, I think I get a real life person to chat (not talk) with. I cancel yet another card (my second canceled card in 1 year). I report the bogus charge and it is being 'investigated'. I go to my local branch and talk to a live person today. I tell her what's happening. She confirms the card has been closed and that the charge is being looked into. She then creates a new debit card for me. One issue here - she asked me to GIVE her the Pin number I want to use. I reluctantly did. Now I worry, are the issues with my account a result of insider fraud from bank employees. Maybe not, but that's what's going through my mind. In 13-14 months of owning this account, we've had fraudulent charges 3 times. We have not used the debit cards for almost 3 months. During the entire year we've only used the cards 6-7 times for small amounts. All I got was I'm sorry and the advice, 'maybe you should use a credit card, it's less susceptible to fraud'. Is Region's security so weak that it is easily invaded? Or worse, are there internal problems with security? Needless to say, I'm glad that I did not move the rest of my money to Regions. One more false charge and I will close the account I have. I do not recommend Regions for your personal checking based on this experience. What happened from 2018 when things were okay with the organization account until 2023 with my personal account? Maybe they care more about larger accounts and not so much about small personal accounts. Bank with them at your own risk.

Do not do business with Regions!! They LIE!!! I made a deposit and received a hold notice from the teller, signed and dated, stating that funds would be available the next day. The next day I received and email from Regions stating that all of the funds are now on hold for 7 days. Relationships are built on trust, if I cannot trust the word of the bank, in writing and signed by an employee, then there is no trust. I won't do business with a bank that I cannot trust. The branch would do nothing, the 800 customer service would do nothing. I have been a customer for over 20 years and my sons have all opened accounts with Regions but we will be moving our business now.

Has gone from being one of the best regional banks to one of the worst. Customer service, both in branch and by phone, have disappeared. I've been with them for over 20 years and am in the process of leaving them for good!

I pulled into the regions line right as it was turning 12. The clerk at the window was making small talk to the person in the line beside me for several minutes, and then the car drove off and she shut the shutter to her window, when she knew that I was sitting there. At this point it was after the 12 closing time (the person was already finished with her banking transaction when I arrived and they were laughing and chatting). I understand that by then it was after closing time, but at least have the decency to acknowledge a customer that you see sitting there, and apologize if you can’t help them at that time. Very rude. I’ve been thinking of changing banks for awhile and I most likely will now. It really shouldn’t be so hard to be a nice person, yet so many people these days seem to struggle with it.

I had a terrible experience trying to secure a construction loan for a home. Among the many things that went wrong, here are a few 1. The bank required a signed and executed contract between the builder and borrower to start the loan process. Then when it comes to contract review, they ask the builder to make changes to the contract. The builder has no reason to do so as they already have a signed contract from me. I could potentially be sued by the builder if i cannot proceed with construction. 2. They never communicate with the borrower and builder, but rather to each one separately, keeping the other in the dark. 3. They even wanted builders personal (yes personal, not business) credit score I was fortunate that my builder agreed to all this 4. When it was time to sign the final closing disclosure, I get to know from the attorney (not bank) that there are some documents in there that needs to be signed by the builder. I to date do not know what those documents are about. The builder disagreed to sign those and thereby our loan process had to be terminated. 5. Bank returns the very next day with the preposition that they would waive the builder signature. At this point, we lose faith in the bank and decide to totally decline the loan. Now I have to pay the attorney for title abstraction, service which is necessary only if I was getting a loan. I have requested the bank to pay for those , but never heard back
