Horrible & Deceptive
We were selected for an expenses paid 2 night stay at the Williamsburg Plantation Resort with the catch of attending a "90 minute presentation" during our visit. We were pretty sure this was a timeshare sales pitch, although this was in no way made explicit. Dale G. was our main sales rep, who was actually very friendly, interesting and inoffensive, but after being shuffled back and forth between 3 different locations in Dale's car (a no escape tactic) and nearing HOUR 3, I was losing my patience. From the onset, we were very clear that we were not going to purchase anything and explained that this simply was not our lifestyle of choice. We prefer camping and the benefit of more immersive cultural experiences. We also do not see it as an investment at all, and I seriously advise all those considering a timeshare to research before jumping on the timeshare wagon. After Dale recognizes our stance, cue Pat L at hour 3. He starts to ask us about ourselves, and I feel like I just woke up on Groundhog Day; starting completely over. We tell Pat it ain't happening, to which he replies that we shouldn't have entered the drawing. I proceed to get upset about the length, and Pat emphasizes that it was "approximate." I'm sorry, Pat L, you are not entitled to hold me hostage for 3 hours or take my hard earned money when I said no. No means no, in all contexts... and in no world is 90 minutes approximately 180 minutes. I don't appreciate deception and rude behavior just because I made a consumer choice not to buy your product. This is a sad dishonest approach to what could have been a much more enjoyable and successful experience on your part. I could have spread the word about how this wasn't my choice, but could have been a great opportunity for friends and family... but instead, you get this review. Honesty is probably what I care about most when I'm asked to shell out $40k for the "investment" of a lifetime.
