Like most great companies, it all started with an idea. In 1974, Jon and Christel DeHaan set out to add greater value to the timeshare experience when they pioneered the vacation exchange concept. The DeHaans developed a system that allowed owners to exchange time at their home resort for a stay at a different affiliated property—delivering a new level of flexibility and choice to timeshare owners and revolutionizing an industry in the process.Today, RCI remains the leader in vacation exchange, offering the world’s largest vacation exchange network and providing unrivaled products and services to enhance the vacation ownership experience. It’s one of the many reasons why more resorts trust RCI to deliver vacation exchange services to its subscribing members than any other company across the globe

Can someone please tell me why the RCI website never works? I am a member of Holiday Inn Clubs and access it through that site. Not sure if it is the integration or what as this has been an issue for years. I can't go directly to the site to book a place since it would not have my points on that site. Sometimes you can search and look at the properties and sometimes you can't click on the dates or pictures. I have called and they continue to say it is working fine. They said don't use Chrome and use Internet Explorer. I told them I use Internet Explorer and this issue has existed for over 10 years. The web search has gotten a little bit better over the years but the website has major issues.

I have had a points booking which was cancelled because of the current covid situation. RCI have returned the points but insist i have to pay to extend the use year beyond the end of September this year. As it is basically impossible to use the points due to the present situation, RCI should bite the bullet and extend free of charge for another 12 months. If we as members were being pedantic we should also receive a refund for half of our membership through the service not being available.
I have spoken to various people written numerous e mails and the answer keeps coming back the same we will charge you to extend your points use year. I have even emailed Paul.Malcahy @rci.com the managing director who hasn't seen fit to reply as yet.
Most companies have dealt with the situation with some sensitivity to customers, RCI just seem to use the situation to charge again long term customers for the privilage of being a member.

I have been a member or RCI for well…
UPDATE: I am officially changing my rating for RCI from a 1 star to a 5 star! In less than 24 hours, after writing this review and then deciding to send RCI a detailed email containing the facts I expressed below, they reached out to me and completely addressed all of my concerns listed in my first review.
Even though I had called multiple times trying to resolve my issue, in retrospect I probably should have also emailed them as a last option prior to posting a bad review. I am now one happy camper and will be looking forward to booking more incredible vacations with RCI.
I am leaving my original review below. I am offering the following advise. If you should find your issues are not resolved to your satisfaction using the Chat or Call features, you may want to email them a detailed explanation of your issues first and wait for a response and hopefully a satisfactory resolution. That definitely will be my course of action in the future before posting a negative review.
________ Original Review _________
I have been a member or RCI for well over 25 years and had many wonderful exchange vacations. We have two rooms booked for a trip to Cozumel, Mexico on July 11, 2020. The resort is currently not open but is showing as "scheduled to open on July 1st".
Issue 1: We are not certain that date will be adhered to and or if the resort will even truly be open. Nor do we know what "anticipated amenities" might be unavailable for our use due to COVID19 Restrictions. We do, however know that the dining, dining, spa, and pool privileges at the Sunscape Sabor Cozumel next door will not be available if the Suncape Sabor adheres to their currently published opening date of July 15th.
Issue 2: We are elderly with risk factors and because Mexico is still a level 4 travel destination, we are quite worried about traveling there.
Issue 3: We don't really care if our points are refunded as we have about 780 points in the bank and a paid membership good through May 2025. We simply really would like for our exchange fee and the guest certificate cost for one of the rooms to be refunded.
Issue 4: Our preferred airline is not yet flying to Cozumel and when I checked the price on an airline that was flying there today, it was over $3000.00 (THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS) per person - and that was not even a direct flight! It seems the longer we wait for them to extend their refund offer from travel up until June 30, 2020 to July 15, 2020, the higher the airfare climb. I feel we are unfairly being told no refund to encourage us to make the trip while being encouraged to wait and see and increase our travel cost. This is not right!
I have called several times about cancelling this reservation and each time I have been told "no refunds". "Keep watching the website for policy updates." Honestly, I'm so over this.
Does RCI not realize that many of their long time members are older with health issues and are repeatedly being told not to travel especially to international destinations???
Fortunately, we have not yet paid the $3300 all inclusive fees, but we have already paid ~$850 for a room upgrades. I don't care who you are, this is quite a financial hit that RCI is dragging their policy feet causing us to incur.
This is just not right.

I purchased a cruise/resort package
I purchased a cruise/resort package. RCI said my money had to be paid up front, which I did. RCI booked my flight. The fight lands in Hamburg and the cruise is out of Kiel. I asked RCI how do I get from the airport to the port, to which they replied "you have to make arrangements." Then my cruise is canceled as of Covid pandemic. I can understand RCI can't control that. What they can control, and failed at is, service after they got my money.. I have called numerous times requesting the do something about the flights they booked. The airline would not allow me to make changes or adjustments due to the fact RCI did the booking. After being put on hold for 30-45 minutes I finally get a person who vows they will help, haven't gotten any results yet. Today, I talked to a person that said they would connect me with the Department that handles s, they were closed. My flight leaves on the third, so thanks to RCI it looks like I will be out the $2300 For the flights too. If anyone is even thinking about service from RCI, don't consider it, they woul have to improve just to reach terrible!

No Extension due to COVID-19
I contacted RCI as I have been over the last couple of months concerning my points since I paid for an extension and was not allotted the number of months I paid for. I was advised to continue to call back closer to the time the points would expire and I have been. The last rep advised me that I could gift myself the points and when I ask was it free she said yes. I received the info to gift myself and was surprised there was an amount that I would be charged. I called today requesting a supervisor and spoke with Zachary. I told him the situation and he advised that there was basically nothing that could be done and when I begin to speak he begin to talk over me. I told him that this was not good customer service and that I wanted to speak with his supervisor and he told me there was no one that I could speak to at this time. I told him I would hold. This went on for a good 15 mins back and forth with him, me begging to speak with someone else, him continuing to talk over me and call my name over and over loudly. Whenever he wanted me to listen to him he would threaten to put me on hold until I would listen to him but would not allow me to talk without interrupting me. He also advised that we were not about to play these games like I did not have the opportunity to use my points. When I told him that I was recording him(which I wasn't) he told me it was illegal and hung up on me. I called back requesting to speak with a manager above him and was advised by another rep that she was unable to get Zachary and he would have to transfer me to his manager. I advised the young lady that it didn't make any sense that the person I was calling in to make the complaint about would be the person that would have to transfer me. The young lady gave me a Corporate number (407-626-5200) when I called an automated line for Wyndham advised it was outside of their call hours at 2:34 pm this afternoon.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY
Update to this review: RCI has refunded my booking fee of $239.00. However, I have still not received my refund of $934.00 for the all inclusive fee that RCI directed me to prepay with AM Resorts. I have called the customer service line for AM Resorts 5 times since the cancellation on March 23rd and receive a different story every time. RCI "executive team" contacted me to apologize for the refund issue and said they would contact the resort on my behalf to get a status of my refund. That was a week ago and I have heard nothing from RCI on this matter. I called AM resorts again and was now told that RCI did not "authorize" the refund until June 1, 2020. I cancelled the vacation on March 23, 2020 and was told at that time by RCI they would send over the authorization for the refund. AM resorts originally told me they received that information on March 27, 2020. So here it is June 5th (71 days) since the vacation was cancelled and no refund. I have been lied to so many times its hard to know what to believe. I have also learned that prepayments are received by a company called GBS International and they have an F rating with the BBB and have a massive number of complaints. RCI has an obligation their members to provide full disclosure on outside companies that they refer their members. Instead, it's the blame game between the resorts and RCI and the members are stuck in the middle.
Stay away from this company! if I could have given them zero stars I would have. They are dishonest and a total rip-off. We are a part of the "points" program through RCI, it was part of the package we received when purchasing a vacation package with H-10 resorts. This company has been horrible to work with and uses deceptive business practices. Their inventory is a lie, the pictures of the resorts are a lie, and the hidden fees are numerous. My most current issue with them is a dispute over their refusal to refund the "booking" fee for a trip that was cancelled to Mexico due to COVID-19. I have filed a complaint with BBB and the State Attorney General's office in FL. Also, be aware that when you book an all-inclusive resort through RCI, they will tell you that if you do not pre-pay the all inclusive fee that they won't confirm your rate and that when you get to the resort it could be higher than what you book it for. However, they will take no responsibility to get a refund of that prepayment if the vacation is cancelled. You are left to fin for yourself with the resort directly. I have waited 60 days for a $934.00 refund and RCI will do nothing to assist in helping their own members with this process. This is a horrible company and I can't understand how they can still be in business.
