Incredibly frustrating
This store is so incredibly frustrating. I used to work here about 10-15 years ago in the pet care department so I do know what I am talking about. This is the second time I have found myself arguing and defending myself trying to purchase fish. We have a 10 gallon goldfish tank with feeder goldfish. Yes, I know goldfish get big. Yes I know 10 gallons is small. However the purpose of these fish is to be food and by letting them live in a tank that brings happiness to my 1 and 3 year old I don’t think I’m doing any harm. We also have a pond that we move the goldfish into when the get too big. When trying to purchase feeder fish the lady grilled me on the fact that my tank is too small. I explained my situation and still was having to defend myself. I literally said this is ridiculous I should just tell you I’m using them as food. Today I came in to get something to help with the algae. The lady told me I can’t have an algae eater, I can’t have snails and then started grilling me on the size of my tank. Did she ask me what type of goldfish? No. Did she ask if they will be moved to a larger space? No. I’m soooooo sick of defending myself every time I set foot in this store. The employees treat you like you are stupid and abusing animals. My sincere apologies for giving feeder fish a nice home. Ridiculous. Will drive further to go to Petco from now on.

Disservice to injured animal in their care at the Pet Hotel
I contacted Petsmart on 12/30 to report a significant injury to my pet that occurred during her stay at your pet hotel. The stay was from12/21 through 12/28. During my pets stay, she sustained a serious injury to right eye. The injury was ignored by the staff and left untreated for the entire duration of her stay. (There was a vet located in that particular store) I was contacted by the staff while I was on vacation. The injury was down played by the staff as they told me her eye was simply red. When we picked up Sookie, her eye was infected due to an ignored laceration to the eye and had a faded (cloudy) appearance like it was dying. I've been in contact with the corporate customer service line and the stores hotel management. Unfortunately, nothing is happening as of 1/20 (one month later). We have now paid for the hotel stay and several vet visits. As well as medications and the time its taking to medicate Sookies eye multiple times per day. The stores hotel manager has been very empathetic however, everything has been left unresolved as the store is waiting for the corporate pet investigation team to conclude their investigation. Regardless of the out come of the investigation, the staffs negligence to provide veterinary care during Sookies stay escalated the injury as well as the time taken for her to heal. The pet hotel manager has verbally taken responsibility and admitted fault by the staff not following policy and procedure, as well as communicating the health disposition of Sookie to store management during her stay.
We are beginning to feel like this matter is being ignored in hopes that we would just let it go. Our dog's eye may never heal properly or fully because of the negligence of the hotel staff leaving her lacerated eye infected and untreated during her stay.
If this matter is not resolved in a timely manner, we will be contacting legal representation as well as media.

worst costumer service ever
worst costumer service ever. bought two collars for my dog thinking i could always bring one back but both were a little big. one still had the tag on it. the other did not have a tag to begin with. didn't have a receipt but i did have the card i used to purchase both collars. would not accept returns without paper receipt. every other major store can access your receipt from your card but not pet smart. could not even exchange either collar for the right size. but judging by pet smarts 1.5 star rating they don t give a s%^t what their costumers think of their service.

Refused Service
Tuesday, January 14th, 2020
At approximately 2:30 p.m. I entered PetSmart solely to purchase some fish. As I approached the fish wall I was asked by an attendant if I was buying fish. I responded Yes. She then stated to me, “ Now is not a good time.” I told her that I didn't understand what that meant. She then said to me, “The most important thing I can do is to get these fish acclimated.” With that, she walked away from the fish area and never returned.
Mind you, I was just there on Saturday and they did not have several items I needed. I was then told by that attendant that the best day is Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday because they receive deliveries on Tuesdays. I thanked the attendant and left.
So back to Tuesday’s incident...I browsed the fish area for about 30 minutes and watched her walk in and out of a room that appeared to be an office or break room that was very close to the store entrance. I also saw her wait on people at the register. She didn't seem to have a clear focus on what she was doing, nor a clear direction. But the one thing that was clear was that she was refusing to wait on me.
I do not have a name to give you because when she spoke to me her back was turned although her head was facing me. She appeared to be about 4 ft 11 long blonde hair and a scowl on her face.
While it's too late to save me as a customer maybe you need better training for your employees. I have heard the staff at PetSmart as well as customers in the blogs complaining that several other staff members lack work ethic.

I work here
I work here, in the grooming salon. I just wanted to answer some questions from bad reviews left here.
1. The reason why they shave dogs, is because of mats. Mats are very irritating to the skin and can cause many problems for your pet. So we are trained to shave out the mats, and we are told to turn away matted dogs whose pet parent refuses to sign the paperwork authorizing for a spot-shave, because we pretty much HAVE to shave out the mats - it's just our policy. And when you sign off that we can - well...we're gonna do it then. "Why not just brush them out?" When mats are too close to the skin to be brushed out - you can really hurt their skin by tugging and tugging on it - it's really not fair to the pet to have their hair pulled on and pulled on, and may take extra hours.
2. If you are turned away because your pet does not have it's rabies shots - that is also our policy. All pets in the salon MUST have updated rabies shots - for the safety of all associates, other pets, and your pet as well. Associates get bitten way more often than you may think.
3. A lot of the time, dogs may come in, and work themselves up getting so stressed out being in the kennel or getting their nails clipped - we understand, it can be frightening for many dogs, I personally do my best to make it fun for the dogs and comfort them, and give them breaks whenever needed - but many times, a dog may work itself up so much we have to discontinue the service for safety reasons. We don't want you to walk away with a half groomed dog, but we want you to walk away with a safe and healthy dog.
4. I've seen a few reviews about being called because your pet is showing unhealthy signs of stress - A lot of times, dogs work themselves up from stress and anxiety and possible preexisting conditions and symptoms will show.
5. At my location, we strive to get every dogs nails as short as possible without quicking them. Sometimes we can't go as short as you'd like, because the quick may be long and hard to see, and we don't want to cut too short and make your pet bleed! It does happen sometimes though, and we are always quick to put quik-stop on it. It's a powder that stops the bleeding and closes it up faster.
6. A lot of the things we do are just our policies made by corporate, and we are just doing our jobs. The spot shaving mats, the rabies, and the discontinuing service. And I promise, it is just for the safety of your dogs.
Anyway, I just wanted to help some pet parents understand better why we do what we do. At my location, at least. We really love the dogs we get to work with, and want to keep them safe and happy. I personally really love and care about every dog that comes in.
Thanks! :)
