The worst grooming I have ever seen!!!!
I took my Maltese for bath and hair cut, At Petsmart , 2140 Rainbow, Las Vegas (NV).
I dropped her at 9:00 , and they called me to pick up at 4:00 … seven hours!!! They said my dog had many knots, wasn’t true because I washed her a week ago, and I brush her every day, and they had to cut her completely down, you mean shave her completely to a 1/10 of inch.
I am so mad and will NEVER, EVER TAKE MY DOG BACK THERE AGAIN!!!
She looks so ugly , and my daughter cried for hours.

Bad grooming and horrible customer service
I took my 7 month old Australian shepherd here to get his first haircut. When I went to pick him up I was told to pay first and then they would bring him out to me. I did just that and then was informed by the groomer, Makeena, that my dog was afraid of the sound of the clippers so she couldn’t finish his entire haircut. I didn’t think much of it until I got home and noticed that the giant bandana covering his back was hiding the fact that he didn’t get ANY hair trimmed on his back, chest or front legs. He was only trimmed around his butt and his back legs. I paid full price for less than half a haircut. My dog was there for 4 hours and I never received a phone call that they were struggling with him. What’s worse is I reached out to customer service but they never contacted me back. Needless to say I wouldn’t NOT recommend bringing your dog to PetSmart salons. Especially if they are a puppy.

I DO NOT recommend grooming with the…
I DO NOT recommend grooming with the petsmart store in Redlands, CA. I called in for an appointment and clearly mentioned that I would need an experienced groomer for hair cut and shampoo. They kept my puppy who is less than an year old from 8:00 - 2:30 and finished half way and gave us a call asking us to take him home right away and they cannot complete it because he was too stressed. Poor thing , they didn't even take him to pee once. He was traumatized. He had some bleeding on his head couple of hours after we got him home.
And the worst part is , when I called asking them if I could bring him the following day, they said they didn't have appointment for the next 10 days.
I will never take my pet their again.
Lesson learnt the hard way.

Took my dog to the Doggie Daycare for a weekend. The next day my dog started coughing, sneezing, and had a runny nose. My dog doesn’t go around other dogs so I call my Vet and she said bring him in it might be Kennel Cough (he is up on his Kennel Cough shot). She said there are different strains. But it can develop into pneumonia. Could he had gotten it from Pet Smart Doggie Daycare? I think so. This is not the first bad experience I have had with Pet Smart they put a big gash in my dog’s back from the grooming clippers. When I brought it to their attention they said it was from flea bites. Really! Stay away pet lovers!

Petsmart groomer choked my dog.
I am absolutely horrified by the grooming experience my morkie, Cleo, received at the Petsmart location at Leslie and Elgin Mills, Markham ON Canada.
Please read to the end. If you Google this location, I left a review with pictures of Cleo’s neck.
I was almost in tears when I picked up Cleo following her grooming appointment. She was obviously terrified and there were serious ligature marks around her neck.
It breaks my heart to think of my Cleo being restrained and struggling against the choke collar. She was so terrified that she lost control of her bowels. (The groomer, Jessica, told me that Cleo urinated and defacated on the table.) Poor Cleo must have been choking and squealing and suffering all while Jessica continued with her grooming. Horrifying!
I cannot believe that a “trained”, ”certified” groomer would treat a dog this way. I cannot believe that the other groomers in the room stood by and let this go on. I cannot believe that no one bothered to call me to address Cleo’s state, but I did receive a call to ask how I wanted her tail cut?! It’s absurd.
Apparently the grooming area has surveillance. I requested to see the video of Cleo’s appointment. I was told that this was against Petsmart’s privacy policy. I pointed out that Petsmart recorded me without my knowledge or consent. Consequently, I was told a special request could be made, but only if I forwarded the vet’s notes. Interesting… Petsmart did not feel Cleo needed to see a vet. Now, providing the vet’s notes is a condition of seeing Cleo’s grooming video.
These are Petsmart policies, taken directly from the grooming salon FAQs on the Petsmart website:
Can I stay and watch my pet being groomed?
Yes, our Grooming Salons have a viewing area for you to comfortably watch your dog or cat getting groomed.
- Then why can’t I watch Cleo’s grooming tape? If Petsmart claims transparency, then let me see the video.
Will my pet be sedated?
We never sedate pets, nor do we accept pets who have been sedated. If your dog or cat has been known to have a strong behavioral reaction to grooming or bathing, please advise us when making the appointment and when dropping off. If a pet is truly uncooperative or made uncomfortable by the process, we might end the session – but we will never sedate your pet.
- Then then why did the groomer suggest I sedate Cleo for her next grooming appointment?
- If Cleo was truly uncooperative, then why was the session not ended?
How much training do grooming salon associates receive?
We ensure that each professional pet stylist is qualified to care for your pet. Academy-trained stylists complete over 800 hours of hands-on instruction and safety certification, working with at least 200 dogs of all breeds and sizes. Because we pride ourselves on having the highest safety standards in the industry, PetSmart requires every salon associate to be safety certified annually.
- Then why will Petsmart not produce the groomer’s certifications? Any other industry posts it’s certifications publicly.
In addition:
- Why did none of the other groomers stop Jessica and come to the aid of my dog?
- Why did the groomer administer salve to my dog’s wounds without contacting me first?
- Why did the manager give me a topical cream to put on Cleo’s wounds, but not suggest I take Cleo to a vet?
No matter how “wiggly or nervous” (direct quote from the Petsmart representative) Cleo was at the time, the groomer should never have continued with the appointment. That being said, Cleo is 2 1/2. She has been groomed numerous times; at the same Petsmart location no less. Petsmart… Please don’t blame a helpless dog for the abuse she received at the hands of one of your employees. Take responsibility, be transparent and act with integrity.
Petsmart claims, “We love pets.”
Really?!
I don’t think so.

I took our Morkie to the Red Deer Pet Smart for her Grooming. I was called prior to our Appointment time to ensure the time and date. Upon my arrival the clipping area was a Bee Hive of Activity. A few dogs all nice and quiet and looking Happy. I was met by Karie who explained things in detail to ensure what she was doing to Molly for us. I handed her over and she really made her feel relaxed. I received a call when she was ready and when I picked her up she looked great and was really a Happy Pooch. The price was reasonable and the Staff was great. Looks like a very Happy place. Everybody wore a smile. I felt very comfortable with leaving our Dog there. I’ll be asking for Karie again when we need her done again. I hope you thank her.
Sincerely Dave and Lorri Heaslip. (And Molly)

Absolutely WORST haircut my labradoodle has ever had! They obviously do not know what they are doing especially when grooming a doodle! I can’t believe I had to pay for this haircut! I will never go back there or recommend them to anyone!
