NU was convenient for me because I worked full time. I liked the hours of the clases I did take on campus. All the professors in my major were somewhat involved in the law (pre-law) studies major. I loved that they were professionals in the law and new exactly what they were talking about. Of course, what I did not like was the price. It was super expensive, so that’s the only thing I would change. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at NU.

If you are reading this
If you are reading this, you are at where I was a couple of years ago. Probably asking yourself "Why am I here?", "What if...?", "Can I afford it?", "is it worth it?" " I've been away for school for so long, how am I going to find the time?" "Will this help my career?"
If this sounds like you, then you are in the right place. The NU experience will give you exactly what you put into it. If you are doing this for the right reasons, life will pay off as you learn and apply the concepts you learn to your professional career. The academic rigor is definitely there, you will learn something. I took the chance because I wanted to move forward in my career and I wanted to be recognized as a leader in my organization. I work full time, play in a band part time professionally, and have a family. I was able to do all of this because of my family and making time to find the balance between God, Family, work, and school.
The professors are very knowledgeable, and people in my classes were all from very similar yet mixed backgrounds. The online learning experience is something to get used to, but once you get a couple of classes under you just rinse and repeat. I also like how NU gives you opportunity. After figuring out how to navigate classes, projects, and exams, I decided to take it to the next level. How do I apply these theories into practice? Mid-way into my program I was promoted because of this, and no, I wasn't expecting this. You have nothing to lose but time, and yes, a little money. Education is an investment in yourself, choose NU, you won't regret it!

I earned my Master of Arts Degree in Social Emotional Learning (SEL). This program was rigorous and a challenge, but attainable. It was an organized with clear expectations and cutting-edge material. I was hired by a district half time while earning my degree. Everything I read in class was relevant to my work. I also liked the one class per month format. The professors were knowledgeable and they genuinely cared. As a teacher, I have always been passionate about SEL. Students who are well socially and emotionally will perform better in all areas of their lives. I am so grateful for NU. It helped me cannonball into a new direction and I am enjoying where I am in life!
