After I thought I carefully chose a good online college.... I started class in July, and now I am getting the run around about my financial aid package. After reading all these reviews, sounds like students are being told the same as I was told, "delay in the system", looks like this has been going on for over a year!!?? Sounds like an investigation needs to happen, especially after reading all these comments. I wish I had saw all this before enrolling and made a better choice of school! Add on after NU response: I received a generic email saying the same thing, its being processed and referral to a "hardship" program. Thats not what I asked for, I filed for FASFA and got grants etc. The school was communicating effectively until they received money from the government but yet to disperse it to me properly. Ridiculous and sad!

Financial aid dispersement is insanely slow. If you're choosing between online universities, choose one that isn't 3 months behind on financial aid dispersal for students like National University is. I've contacted financial aid many times with no responses from them. I've filed complaints with FAFSA. I've seen other students have their graduation delayed because the university is so far behind on dispersing financial aid for courses that are already finished. It's really bad. I would have gone elsewhere if I'd known what a joke their financial aid department is.

The only thing I will give this University kudos for is convenience of online programs. If I already didn’t start my masters program, I 100% would have definitely gone somewhere else, even getting the $6000 scholarship off my tuition, I’d rather spend more money at another school than to go here. Getting in contact with your advisor is almost ALWAYS a terrible experience. Financial aid is the most unorganized inconsistent thing I’ve ever dealt with in terms of a University, and they definitely do not give you proper timelines to be able to plan your life accordingly. They don’t have any set disbursement dates. They process it when they feel like it and then give you excuses about everything. Instead of actually having a financial aid office for you to be able to communicate and handle things accordingly everything has to be done through the advisor, which does not make the experience any better because half the advisors never answer the phone. Most of the professors are real chill, cool people but the experience from the University itself takes away from that.

Pro's: The professors are eager to actually teach and they quick to respond if you have any difficulty in the class. The class structure is ideal for someone who is working full time. Con's: NU's advisors and records department are utterly useless. If you need help in any way, you probably have to escalate it to a supervisor or try to do it yourself. My current issue with them is that for 3 months my advisor said my transcripts are all in their system. Then this week I was told that I've been temporarily withdrawn from all my courses because they are missing 2 of the 4 transcripts I had to submit prior to enrollment. Then when I called my advisor for additional information, she told me that I was missing ALL my transcripts. I had to get in touch with Parchment to verify that my transcripts are sent to records and they assured me that it has been sent to the correct email. I have the confirmation for proof. The only fix action that these "advisors" told me was to re-order the transcripts again, each costing $8-15, and hope that the records department gets it. So now I am screwed financially because I needed the BAH received from the GI Bill to offset some expenses. Update: After escalating the situation I was able to have my issue resolved, but I still missed an entire course.

I thought as a first time college student this college would be good but I have done 2 classes they cram everything in in four week classes expect you to get everything done but due dates that all are different every time. They say they are flexible but they are not as someone who also has a job they make it so difficult. The fact I have had many bad experience with this university I would say definitely go somewhere else as I am looking to go else where to finish my degree.

Avoid this school. They act like they are so friendly and helpful when they are selling you on signing up, but once you are there it's like you don't exist. Almost impossible to reach advisors and when you do, they usually don't have the knowledge to help. Twice my advisor failed to process things for me and I almost got dropped from the school. When I was hired recently as a teacher, the HR manager at the district said that NU is the worst to deal with and she advises people to go somewhere else to get their teaching credentials. How discouraging! I was embarrassed. I have had a couple of really good professors who were passionate about their profession and their students. Mostly, the problems here are on the administrative side. It's also telling that NU has sanitized its Google search results so that it's difficult to find or leave reviews. Boo, hiss. Get your act together and stop hiding, NU!

National University is, without a doubt the hardest school to communicate with. Their financial aid department is lacking in general knowledge of how this schools funding works. It also has a lack of consideration for their students financial well being. Processing takes months to complete and you will not be notified of any refunds or changes to your account balance unless it's in their benefit. I am still missing my award letter and I have been a student since October 24th. It is February 15th. I receive very little, if any contact back when reaching out and leaving messages. If you are thinking of attending here, beware. It is an uphill battle for everything except the actual classes, which are good. I know that they will probably attempt to address this post in order to make themselves look empathetic but they have had every opportunity to rectify this up t o now. It has been months of unreturned calls and emails. I have no idea where my money is!!!!

My next financial aid dispersement is due in February but the financial aid rep said processing time is now 8 to 10 weeks. I need the money, that I borrowed and I have to pay back, for living expenses. This time frame is unacceptable. Update: 2/8/23- I sent an email on 1/16/23, as suggested by NU's reply, and have not heard back from anyone.
