lots of negative reviews so I thought I would share my experience and why I gave them 5 stars. yes, the site does confuse you when you Google search "dmv California" or something relevant to . yes, its deceptive in that it makes you think you are using the DMV website. I didn't like either of those, honesty, I felt tricked into renewing my tags with them because of the afformentioned. BUT, I did get my new registration and decals the very next day and in less than 24hrs. I was sent an immediate email, all the emails I sent to their customer service were immediately answered, and I was provided a tracking number with Fedex by end of day. their "check order status" on the website was accurate and the tracking number is provided there as well. I paid an extra $80 total for this service: $50 to them and $30 for the overnight shipping. my tags were about to expire and this was worth it to me. If they would market themselves a little more honestly, they wouldn't have so many bad reviews, re: not trying to pass themselves off as the actual dmv. I gave them 5 stars because the service was impeccable, I received my registration in less than 24hrs, and that's all I really cared about.

First of all, their ad showed up above the DMV and their ad was misleading to the point where I thought I was on the DMV. Even similar website colors--they are trying to trick you. Nearly $500 and one month later, I have my registration for my car I bought. Over $200 more than if I had gone into the DMV which I could have gotten done in one day if I had not thought they were the DMV when I first began the process with them. Stick with the DMV. They are not helpful in the long run and what a waste of money. You live and you learn!

Total scam, was in a hurry and fell for it. Clicking their Google ads non stop now for the next couple of weeks to make sure they pay more for advertising than they made by scamming me

Total scam--my bad for being in a hurry and not looking at the URL I was directed to when I searched for "DMV registration." Quick...as in they quickly took an additional $70 I didn't need to pay. Lesson learned.

I consider NeedTags a scam. I went to DMV.Ca.Gov and was redirected to this website. I almost paid the additional $60 until I realized I was being duped.

This is one of the most unethical websites. They do not itemize the charges they impose on you. This site is on top of the California department of Motor Vehicles website. I missed took it for the CDM site. and they would not refund my money when I caught it 1 minute after i purchase my tags and they went on to charge me $70+ dollars more than I needed to. do recommend this site AT ALL.

Scammer alert! this business is horrible! they made their website very similar to DMV website and paid for Google ads so you search for DMV they are the first one comes up. the service fee is extremely high. Horrible people does horrible business.

This is a total scam! Yes, you will get your registration but will pay an extra $70.00 minimum to do so. They add service fee, shipping fees, processing fees etc; Save your money and ONLY pay your registration fees on DMV.ca.gov. There is NO REASON to pay more than the registration fee noted on your registration form!
