I opened an account with Marcus by Goldman Sachs using a link to specifically get their $1,500 promotion. I followed up 6 months later to inquire about promo not added to my account. When I called I was told I didn’t apply for it separately. I used the link thinking I was specifically applying for the promo. Now they will not honor the promo. I was definitely misled with their ad and link!!!!

Goldman Sachs problems
Online account would not let me transfer my no penalty CD to my online high-yield savings account. I tried several times, didn't work. I finally called and they have somehow my birthday is incorrect but they couldn't get it fixed so I was told basically the tier two could not get it fixed. Then I keep calling and my phone went dead. So anyway long story short it took me all day and I haven't got my money to be able to be transferred. I don't need all of it. I just need $7,000 of over $100,000. So I'm going to try tomorrow and hope that whoever I get out of tier two can solve this problem because they have my birthday incorrect and I have had my birthday for 59 years so I know what it is. Wish me luck

I Deceptive bonus promotion and discriminatory treatment. Avoid Marcus.
I am writing this review to warn others about my experience with Marcus by Goldman Sachs, which has been nothing short of deceptive and deeply disappointing.
As a new customer, I opened an Online Savings Account in March 2026 to take advantage of their Cash Bonus promotion. The instructions for new customers clearly stated: "Enroll New customers: Open an Online Savings Account and enroll." This phrasing combined "Open" and "enroll" into a single, unified step. At no point during the registration process was there a separate button, link, or warning indicating that I needed to complete an additional enrollment step after opening the account.
Following these instructions, I deposited $10,000 in new funds on March 18, 2026, and maintained this balance without any withdrawals for over 90 days, fully meeting all financial requirements.
When I did not receive the $100 bonus, I contacted Marcus support. I was told I was not enrolled. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (Case #25076404). Marcus responded with a generic denial and the case was closed as unresolved. I then filed a complaint with the CFPB (Case #260828-37661589). On September 11, 2026, Marcus again responded with the same generic denial, without addressing the core issues.
Here is the most alarming part: I have since reviewed other BBB complaints and found a clear and concerning pattern:
Complaint #25017198 (July 6, 2026): Marcus initially denied the $1,500 bonus, then reversed its decision and paid the customer after investigation.
Complaint #24981763 (June 25, 2026): Marcus reversed its initial denial and paid the $1,500 bonus.
Complaint #24979920 (June 25, 2026): Marcus also reversed its decision and paid the $1,500 bonus.
In all these cases, the customers had larger deposits ($100,000)** and were seeking the **$1,500 bonus. Meanwhile, customers with smaller deposits ($10,000) like myself are routinely denied, despite identical circumstances.
This strongly suggests a discriminatory practice where the bank chooses to honor the promotion based on the amount of the deposit rather than the customer's fulfillment of the stated terms.
I met all financial requirements and acted in good faith. The bank's marketing practices are deceptive, and their treatment of customers appears discriminatory. I am seeking the $100 bonus I rightfully earned. I recommend others avoid Marcus and consider banks that honor their promises and treat all customers fairly, regardless of deposit size.

Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. After your CD maturity date you have a grace period that you are supposed to whatever you want with YOUR money but no they say that you can’t touch my money for seven days when the rep and even supervisor said I was in my grace period. So if you needed your money they said it’s nothing they can do the system does it and can’t override it. Which I totally don’t believe

Failed to establish a new CD account
My wife was unable to establish a new CD account. After providing all information requested for the CD online application a message was received that "a little more information was needed." We called and provided the same information to agent number one. Then we were transferred to agent number two who requested the same information. Then told all was fine and we'd receive an email to complete the application. No email was received. Called back and was told to reapply. Application online number 2 also failed as " a little more information was needed."

The cd rates are very good, but
The cd rates are very good! I have 2 cd's with them, but opening an account here or even adding one is difficult. It shouldn't take half an hour to open an account online, especially as an existing customer.

Absolutely horrible and unbelievably…
Absolutely horrible and unbelievably rude supervisor named Jeff. Thankfully I was able to match his energy but I cannot even imagine someone soft talking this absolutely disgraceful person. I swear I've never talked a person this rude in my entire life. And keep in mind, I had close to seven figures just in my saving account at Marcus. That one interaction was enough for me to move all my money out and close the accounts. If you're that miserable in your job, give it to someone who will appreciate it.
