Phenomenal incompetence in the Call Centre. Spent the best part of a day, on and off trying to get through. Calls of 10, 20, 30, 40 minutes get cut off without any response. I wasn't requesting a refund as I had to cancel Heathrow to Sydney via Kuala Lumpur due to Covid - simply a confirmation of my cancellation. Eventually received totally inaccurate email (date wrong and omitted 2nd leg of flight) Incredibly incompetent and frustrating!

Cancelled my flight from London to Perth 2 weeks before. Alternative flights were on vastly different days with ridiculously long stop overs. Refunds are not automatic - you have to call a 'global call centre' which is a painful, mind-numbing experience with multiple hang-ups and unhelpful staff when you finally get through. Use only as a last resort only.

I don't know how many hours I have wasted dealing with Malaysia Airlines. Malaysia Airlines cancelled our flight, and any normal airline gives you a refund as it's their fault, but we never got a refund or anything else. They promised a voucher or rebooking instead but I never got a reply how to do it, it doesn't matter how many times you ask. They just tell you if the voucher (which I never got) expires, the money is gone! If you try to manage your booking online, nothing ever works. They are just stealing our money without any scruples. It is very very hard to reach the customer service (surely delibaretely) and if you get a reply it's always useless, so as they haven't even read what you wrote. There are many bad customer services out there, but Malaysia Airlines is surely the worst of all. So if you don't want any troubles, stay away of Malaysia Airlines.

Flight was OK. Check in process a nightmare. Their check-in system was not correctly updated with required information for the destination. During covid this is a huge problem as the regulations change often. To top off the poor system, the gate staff were particularly intransigent and unhelpful. If you want to be certain to get to your destination, avoid this airline. If it wasn't for the poor quality service prior to the flight, it would be an OK airline.

Due to call centre agent error I have two open tickets rebooked on the same flights (same date and time). Shocking that the agent decided to book a seat without my consent and did not inform me. I only found out by chance through enquiring about the status of the open ticket. I have tried ringing them but these two things keep happening. a) I get cut off after waiting on hold without speaking to an agent. This usually happens between 8-10mins into the call b) I manage to speak to an agent who puts me on hold then hangs up on me. This is extremely frustrating as by now I have invested up to an hour of time only to know that I have to start the whole process again. I rang them 8 times yesterday and spent several hours but I never got anywhere. Why are they resorting to hanging up? So unprofessional and heartbreaking to see a national airline treating its customers so badly. Bottom line: Be aware that if you decide to go with MAS and have to use their call centre there is a good chance that issues don't get resolved and money is lost. Or equally as bad, you end up on the phone for hours over days trying to stressfully get your issues resolved but with little signs of hope.

This may seem a piffling complaint but it really annoyed me. I was on a 14 hour flight from Malaysia to London and keen to watch some films. I am hard of hearing (made especially worse by the engine noise) and therefore require subtitles. But trying to find which films offered these was a complete nightmare. The only way was to click 'Play' but I then had to put up with about 2 minutes of adverts before the film started and I could see if there were subtitles or not. Most did not have them so I must have watched those same ads about 30 times over while I searched for a film. On some films there were subtitles but in Chinese! I subscribe to both Netflix & Amazon Prime and everything has subtitles so why not on in-flight entertainment. It only needs a line on the preview page to say Yes or No and what languages they are in.
