Beware of the hideous airline
They are doing a bait and switch on their business class planes
You book a lie flat and a week later they change planes to very old planes and the seats do not recline and there is no television screen
I know this as I had several business flights booked and they switched the plane on every single flight !
DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM

Do not fly with them. The airline did not protect me from kidnapping
I was in extreme danger on my flight from KL to LHR and was not provided any assistance, the amount of danger was confirmed afterwards by Heathrow police who boarded the plane immediately on arrival. And embassy recommendation.
The malaysia airline staff, although moving me away from the man who intended to kidnap me, did so hesitantly, and provided no extra support.
They even failed to identify the dangerous man and gave the police the wrong person even after I gave them a photo of him, his name, and his seat number.
The only reason Heathrow police had an accurate description was because my partner passed on the description from the photo I took. They were incapable of doing any of this.
When I told the airline staff that Heathrow police had requested they call on arrival, they refused, and didn’t cooperate with me or the police.
I was also supposed to be provided security on leaving the country, where there was still a real threat on my life, my partner called and was assured by airline staff on the phone that this was all set up in advance. It was not. And despite this was still not provided to me.
They are not interested in the safety of their own passengers and failed to protect me despite continuous and unrelenting requests from myself and my partner, where each time we made it very clear the severity of my situation.
This treatment was from all members of staff, from call centre to on aircraft. Not a single person was capable of handling this appropriately considering the real danger I was in.
I will be filing further reports on this.

Careless abour their customers
I had booked a flight from Malaysia to Paris, everything was going well until I came with a problem related to my Malaysian Visa, I asked them if it would be possible for me to change the ticket and leave from Bangkok instead or have a refund, having in mind that it was something that was out of my hands. Their reply was that they couldn't help me at all, I provided all the back up showing that it was an immigration situation that I couldn't fix but it didn't help. I had hoped that a big airline could understand these types of situations and at least try to help the customer but I was wrong, goes to show that all their "Customer care propaganda" is just that, a fake mask for an awful company

I will caveat this by saying we have…
I will caveat this by saying we have travelled with Malaysian Airlines to KL and onwards on numerous occasions. Their cabin crew are always excellent and their Business Class offering is decent and until now we had very little to complain about.
However, we have found out it's when things go wrong that you realise that the poor reviews on here are warranted.
We were caught up in the recent Heathrow closure and were redirected to Schiphol. Malaysia do not have a hub or any ground staff there and communication from the airline was absolutely non existent.
Passengers were essentially dumped from the plane with no idea where to go or what to do. Every desk you went to could give no information. I rang the airline and spoke to a young lady who didn't even seem to know there was a problem at Heathrow and then proceeded to cut me off.
More by luck and word of mouth through other passengers we found a Swissport representative who assisted us and sent us to reclaim our bags (which took 5 hours because Malaysian Airlines wouldn'tyrelease them) before being bussed to a hotel.
None of this information came from Malaysia Airlines whose communication with us even at this stage was still zero.
The only email many of us received was at 8.30 am the following morning at the hotel confirming we had been booked on a mid-day flight and the coach was leaving at 8am (30 mins before the email!)
It was an unprecedented and unexpected turn of events, however proper communication to their passengers would have done a lot to alleviate the stress and chaos we all faced at the airport.
1. There should have been someone to meet us from the plane telling us where to congregate or wait for more information.
2. Once Malaysia had agreed a plan with the appointed ground agent, passengers should have been updated and advised by email.
They did eventually get us home on the same plane back to Heathrow. The overnight accommodation was a good standard. However their complete lack of communication throughout the situation will now make us think twice about whether we use Malaysian Airlines again.

Scam to charge extra even if issue is on their side
I was booking a flight from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur. I will be flying with my wife and infant son. While trying to book system was blocking the process as they have a limit of 52 characters combined for all our names and surnames. Guideline available on the page stated that I should populate only initials for my son, which was also impossible as system required at least two characters in each field. Now airline is demanding extra fee for correcting the name and they don’t care that it wasn’t my mistake, but requirements of their system and guideline. Also customer service is below any critics, they are responding after many days, the are not reading the messages, just replying with a template. Additionally they they want to help any other way, only by charging additionally for international call.

Plane broke delayed 2 days worst seats
Plane broke down so we couldn’t fly - same thing happened that morning. Put in a hotel 48 hours and it looks like it’s going 25c and b given. The blooming loo and non recline - after hours of delay and this is how we were treated never again Malaysia airlines. We won’t sleep on flight because of this and two days missed of our holiday. Will only e er use a reputable airline in the future

Booked extra leg room seats to and from…
Booked extra leg room seats to and from KUL at some additional cost but Malaysia did not advise in advance of aircraft changes meaning seats needed to be rebooked. It took me months to get the seats refunded as Malaysia didn't want to reimburse me but persistent won through eventually. I will not use Malaysia again.

Crap customer service and upgrad process
The customer service and entire upgrade process is a scam. I have contacted them on chat, messenger, X platform and on phone but haven't got any proper response. Just asking a simple question of where is the acknowledgement email and they are telling me the same thing again and again which is not an answer to the question I have been asking... I think this is the last time I am booking tickets with this airlines and its a nail in the grave..
