If I could leave ZERO stars
If I could leave ZERO stars, I would.
I have been a patient here for some time, and the way this billing situation has been handled is absolutely unacceptable.
On 8/26, I was required to pay $911.31 upfront for testing. I later discovered they billed my insurance only $720, with my responsibility listed as $302.82, leaving an overpayment of $608.49.
I sent messages through the patient portal on 9/9 and again on 9/16 asking for clarification. As of 9/29, NEITHER message has received a response.
When I finally called Billing on 9/18, I was told the $608.49 would be refunded. It wasn't.
When I called again on 9/28 to find out where my refund was, I was told it had been DENIED because of a "visit" on 9/28. I DID NOT HAVE A VISIT ON 9/28. Then the explanation changed—they are holding my money because additional claims may be submitted to insurance.
I have already met my deductible and am nearly at my out-of-pocket maximum. They have no idea what I will actually owe until insurance processes those claims and issues the EOBs.
My request could not be simpler: Give me back my $608.49. Submit the claims to insurance. When the EOBs come back, bill me for whatever I legitimately owe.
Instead, I have dealt with unanswered messages, multiple phone calls, a promised refund that was later denied without anyone notifying me, being denied access to a supervisor, and then finally reaching a supervisor on 9/29 only to have my refund denied again.
I am a patient, not a bank, and I am not interested in providing an interest-free loan for 30–45 days while you wait for insurance claims to process.
You required payment from me immediately, and I paid it in good faith. I expect the same urgency when you owe me money.
The medical care may be one part of the patient experience, but billing, communication, transparency, and how you treat patients when there is a problem are part of it too.
I should not have to fight this hard to get my own money back.

I have been receiving mental health treatment through LifeStance for the past several months. During this time, my mental health has deteriorated significantly, including depression severe enough that I required treatment at a facility.
Because of the seriousness of my mental health needs, keeping my scheduled therapy appointments is extremely important to me. Unfortunately, my last two scheduled telehealth appointments have resulted in my therapist either being significantly late or not appearing for the session.
After the first incident, LifeStance contacted me, apologized, and rescheduled my appointment. However, the same issue occurred again with the rescheduled session. I remained logged into my scheduled video appointment for more than 15 minutes without my therapist appearing. I then contacted the office and informed the receptionist that I was still waiting. I was simply asked whether I wanted to reschedule again.
I find this extremely concerning. These are mental health appointments involving patients who may be experiencing severe depression, anxiety, PTSD, or other serious symptoms. A patient should not repeatedly be left waiting for a scheduled therapy appointment without communication from the provider.
I understand that unexpected circumstances can occur. However, when the same situation happens twice consecutively particularly after the first incident resulted in an apology and rescheduling it raises serious concerns about continuity of care and how patients with significant mental health needs are being supported.
I am requesting that LifeStance formally review these incidents, document my complaint, and explain what steps will be taken to ensure that I have reliable and consistent access to my scheduled mental health treatment. I would also like assistance ensuring that my future appointments are with a provider who can consistently attend scheduled sessions.

Immediate connection
From the minute I met him, I knew the LifeStance counselor assigned to me was going to be a great fit. I saw him regularly for approximately four months, and he was able to help me successfully come to terms with an issue I had been unsuccessfully struggling with alone for over a year. I am so grateful my primary care physician recommended LifeStance to me.

Go anywhere else!!!!
Extremely disappointed with this company. I’ve had FOUR different psychiatrists/providers through them leave, and every time I’m left starting over with no communication. I was even incorrectly scheduled with a provider in Avon when I’m a Fishers patient, and then was charged when I couldn’t attend. Now I’m being told I need to establish care with yet another provider before my medication can be refilled, despite nobody ever telling me this. This has been incredibly stressful and has negatively affected my mental health. A mental healthcare company should provide stability and communication, not repeatedly leave patients scrambling for care and medication. I’m also requesting an itemized breakdown of everything I’ve been billed for because I don’t understand why I’m being charged when I’ve struggled to actually receive consistent care. Absolutely unacceptable.

Don’t see Dr
Don’t see Dr. Ruth Chao
I was talking to my psychiatrist who recommended I get checked through life stance. I live in Colorado Springs so the earliest available was with Dr. Ruth Chao in Denver. So I took it. I booked my hotel so that way I was there bright and early for my 8 am appointment. I get there at 7:50 no one is in the building yet so I check my phone. I see that I have a missed called so I call back. It is from Ruth Chao saying that her car broke down; (Mind you she lives in a city. Lots of transportation around) and we have to reschedule. I say excuse me I drove an hour and a half to come up here for you to call me 5 mins before my appointment and cancel?! Very unprofessional. So she goes I guess I can get a Lyft. Yeah that would be the nice thing to do. So she came in. I can tell she flustered. But she does my test anyways; okay cool. We then have a follow up on zoom where she tries to explain to me what is going on.(does not communicate English well). I have a recording of me ASKING if I had adhd and level one autism like she was saying and she said yes! But then when I sent my report to my psychiatrist and therapist. They told my she said it was inconclusive could be austism,ADHD or bipolar but she wasn’t sure. Then Why the heck did I pay you; for you to tell me nothing. Thanks for wasting my time Dr. Ruth Chao.
