I would give NO stars if I could
I would give NO stars if I could. We paid into this "Healthshare" staring in 2016 when it was only $785 per month for our family. Since, we hardly ever visit doctors/hospitals, this was mainly for catastrophic/emergency needs. It includes 1 wellness check each year for the women in our family, which is perfect. However, when we called to use it, none of the OB's in the area would take it. We had to drive an hour away and had to pay out of pocket, just to wait over a year before they reimbursed us. Just recently in March, our premium went up to over $1225 a month, which is what Blue Cross Blue Shield charges for real insurance. My daughter got in a accident and maxed out her PIP benefits and LHS repriced the $5000 claim for the Neurologist so only a few hundred dollars went towards AUA and the rest was my responsibility. So basically, the entire $5000 bill is mine and I did not even get close to meeting AUA. On top of that, they said if I stopped paying my premium, the last two month of claims would be sent back and I would have to pay all of those claims too. So they make you pay for 12 months, but you only have 8 months of coverage bc the first and last two months are not covered. THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM! FOR 6 YEARS I'VE PAID INTO THIS SHARE FOR THEM TO COVER 2 WELLNESS CHECKS. THEY WILL NOT BE THERE WHEN YOU NEED YOUR CLAIMS PAID.
Response from Liberty HealthShareJul 12, 2022
Hi Sharon, We are sorry that we did not fulfill your expectations. When members join, they understand that as a health sharing ministry, Liberty HealthShare legally cannot guarantee that medical expenses will be shared or promise a timeline. Members are always liable for their own medical decisions and the expenses that may accrue as a result of their decisions and remain ultimately responsible to pay their bill. As a voluntary sharing ministry, we are always constrained by finite resources no matter how many members we may have. Our 60-day guideline discourages people from joining, submitting high medical expenses and then leaving our sharing community. We communicated to all members in September 2021 that expenses incurred or submitted within 60 days of a member's cancellation or expiration would not be eligible for sharing after December 1, 2021. These changes help steward our shared resources and protect our members' ability to lift one another's medical burdens. We have thousands of members who enjoy the freedom of sharing medical expenses as they share tens of millions of dollars in medical expenses each month.
