8am LawPayReviews of lawpay.com

We've been with LawPay for years without issue. But what happened this year has SHOCKED all of us. Six months after being paid by a client, LawPay informed us the client claimed fraud on his credit card. The charge was for $9,000--not a small amount. The client claimed to have no idea what they were talking about. When this first happened, we submitted all the information and support we could to report that the fraud alert was an error on their part. Their customer/client service has been just the absolute worst. There was never a reply to the contrary, and then, months later, they literally just took the $9,000 from our bank. SIX MONTHS AFTER WE WERE PAID. Trying to contact them is a joke. It takes an exorbitant amount of time for them to follow up and for us to receive any feedback. There is no direct phone number for the dispute/fraud department, and IF they reply, it takes DAYS. Most of my emails receive no response. We’ve tried to escalate multiple times and end up in the same place. We were previously told that the client’s card statement would suffice…and a different person told us it would not. We're now four months past them taking our $9k, which our client wants us to have, and we get ZERO help from LawPay. My advice is for you to find another service so this never happens to you.

Every single time, clients report a "daily limit reached" error when trying to pay their invoice with the Pay Later option. Then, they have to wait one hour to try again. And it doesn't work again. Then, they have to wait 24h. That's even before they can even start the Affirm application. Unfortunately, it has become impossible to use this platform for payments.

They cover for attorneys that take retainers and provide no actual legal representation. I paid a $5000 retainer through Affirm, and 8 am LawPay has provided forged documents of "services" provided. I will allow this to go to collections, I will be going on a full-force social media campaign about their criminal actions, and when we get to collections & court, I will prove that this is all a scam. Shame on you supporting crime.

There are hidden fees with LawPay that were not disclosed to us. We attended multiple demos and conference calls before signing up, and even then, three of us felt it sounded too good to be true—and unfortunately, it was. We were told we could pass the processing fee on to our clients, and LawPay even set that up for us. However, when we received our monthly statement, we discovered that both we and our clients were being charged the surcharge. In addition, there was an “allocated card brand fee” of $4.99 that had never been mentioned. While we were aware of the $0.30 per transaction fee (as it was included in the fine print of the agreement), the overall cost structure was not clearly explained. In the end, what was presented as a great solution turned out to be significantly more expensive than the credit card processing company we had previously used. The bottom line: it may sound appealing upfront, but the actual costs can be much higher than expected.

When a company debits $3,500 from my business checking account without email or explanation. Then a week of customer services emails back in forth while they "look into it." Nothing is resolved still. Still have not provided me with an explanation of what happened. I am attorney, the fact that 8am can't answer a question with specific answers is troubling. Take your law firm anywhere else.

We were lead to believe this was a free service (no monthly fee, etc.) Not once were we ever told about the .30 per transaction fee and we asked that the transaction fee be pushed back on the client. While the transaction fee was added to the clients fee, LawPay continued to invoice for a transaction fee that was paid for by the client. This company has show deceitfulness and not forthcoming of additional fees. Very disappointed and will not be recommending them.

Understand, please, that I cannot yet review the product itself. This is only a review of onboarding and customer support. If you are not tech savvy and you need to import your contacts and cases into LawPay, be wary of the product as it may not be for you. I am tech savvy but I need Support to help me with one aspect of my onboarding. However, Support is dreadful. Nonexistent, in fact. They do not help. I have been stuck for weeks unable to even begin to use the system because Support cannot, will not, help me. In fact, one of their agents tried to speak with someone from Support to help me and the person from Support told him no. So I am stuck, wanting to use the system but unable to move forward.

We tried the service for a few months. Constant delays in funding & customer service responses can be measured in days, not hours. It appears to be more of a “white label” of a credit card processing firm, and not an actual merchant processor.
