I’ve been using Joyous for about a month now, and while my life certainly isn’t perfect and I still have difficult days, I’ve noticed a significant change in how much time I spend spiraling in depression and anxiety. I feel more like myself again. Before starting, I could get stuck in extremely dark thought patterns for hours or even days. Thoughts about not wanting to be alive had become almost constant for months. Now, those thoughts are incredibly rare. I still have work to do, but I feel like I finally have enough space from my thoughts and emotions to actually do that work. The ketamine troches, combined with the courses and resources in the patient portal, have helped me create some distance between the person I know myself to be and the anxiety, depression, and obsessive thinking that had been taking over my life. I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety for a long time, but I was always hesitant to take more traditional medications because I worried about side effects and how they might make me feel. Ketamine was something I felt more comfortable trying, and so far I haven’t experienced any noticeable side effects. What I appreciate most is that I don’t feel numb or disconnected from myself. If anything, I feel more capable of looking inward, processing what I’m going through, and doing the emotional work I’ve wanted to do. For me, it has felt less like covering up the symptoms and more like finally having enough breathing room to work on what’s underneath them. I’m still early in the process, but after a month, I’m genuinely grateful for how much better I feel and hopeful about continuing.
