Failed Prongs in 3 months lost diamond!
Purchased a silver ring with sapphire and diamonds in January. I wanted an emerald ring with the same setting, but they didn't sell that. I had to purchase the ring as is, purchase the emerald and pay to have it set...adding about $90 to the ring. They were very insistent in selling the metals warranty. I have only purchased high quality custom jewelry in the past and have never heard of a paying for a jewelry warranty. There is a free warranty included on the stones being lost if the ring is inspected every 6 months. That seemed reasonable, so I decliened. They said the metal can bend and they can "put it back to new for free" if I purchase the warranty. I declined again. In March, I replaced the sapphire with an emerald (they inspected the ring when servicing it, I assumed!) In June one of the baggette diamonds was lost. I looked at the warranty and it covers lost stones, so I took it in. They do NOT cover the "metal" work to set the stone, even if it was THEIR prongs that failed after only 3 months of being inspected. I ended up paying for the warranty as it was only $10 more than the setting fee. They said that will cover future repairs for the life of the ring. REALLY? They are assuming there will be future repairs? Why don't they just make good quality to start with? This ring has cost way more than originally anticipated due to the stone swap fees and warranty. I am tired of walking in to that store and not having things ready when promised and having to pay every time I arrive for another service! ALSO, be sure to get your ring sized correctly before you take it home the first time...they will charge you to resize it later!
