Do not purchase from Inogen. They suck as a big company
Would like to let people know my personal opinion about Inogen and their products. I am a Retired Vet, and have spent over 3.5 months trying to get set up with an Inogen Oxygen concentrator. I called, and told the Inogen folks that I wanted to use medicare insurance, and they said fine, but we do not get the fancy new units. I was told we get the old Inogen 5 I believe, this could be the wrong number. Anyway the reason for giving us the old unit is they use them for the rentals. My Primary Care provider is a Dr. at the VA. After finally getting all the paperwork done, and calling my Dr numerous times, Inogen called and stated we would have to start over because all the tests and paperwork had exceeded the 30 day time limit. This was Inogens fault. They are slow, and do not return phone calls for weeks. Sometimes never. You have to stay on top of them Anyway I had to go back to the VA, schedule new Oxygen Tests, and then get my providers to send all the newdata. My providers even called and vented about the poor communication they were having with Inogen. They said every time they gave Inogen the info they requested, then a few days later they would call and request more info. After 3.5 months of fighting with Inogen they called me to tell me that they had everything and would send it to the billing department. Someone from billing called and started asking questions again, and I told they that I just got a new provider at the VA. I told them that is not uncommon for a Primary Care Provider to Move into another position, and we get a new Dr. assigned. In the last 4 years I have had 6 new providers. Anyway I was informed that they were going to have to call my new dr. and request new test Etc.. i told them what they could do with their machines. It is my Opinion that Inogen will go out of your way if you buy one of their machines, and sign up to pay for a maintenance agreement, and you get to select the machine you purchase, but if you use insurance or Medicare specifically, they drag you through the mud, and want your life history. I have 47 years of medical records, and that still did not satisfy Inogen. In my 65 years, I have never dealt with such a crappy Company. I would highly recommend to folks to research the internet, and find a better company.
