Really poor phone customer service
There were several errors in my transfer history. I transfer money for one Huntington account to a different Huntington account. For every actual transfer, there was a second identical transfer form a mysterious "Closed Account". And each had a unique transaction number. I've never closed an account at this bank. I called Customer Service. Which used to be really good until it was offshored. Now it takes three times as long to end up with no resolution. They read script, spit back to me what I said, which is wrong, and then ask stupid questions like this: "What is the account number of the Closed Account?" There is no closed account! It's a Huntington system error. I called a second time, hoping I would get a person who could understand the issue. No luck. Finally I called the online banking tech support number. Instead, I got the same offshore customer service! She said I had to explain the situation first before she could transfer me to online support. After going through the entire description again, and inviting her to look at my account to confirm the issue, I was transferred. The person I was transferred to said "I don't know why you were transferred here." Uh, you're online support, right?" She did confirm there was an issue, and opened a ticket for it. Total phone time: 1 hour, 33 minutes over three calls. It seems to me that when customer service is offshored and the people take three times a long to get to no solution, is the bank really saving money? Support used to be in Michigan, and the few times I called (over 20+ years) were quickly resolved.
