Switch from Cadence to Huntington Same great people different experiences.
The Bank I used was Cadence Bank and it sold to Huntington. I have used this bank location for over 30 years. Over the 30 year this location has been bought and changed names twice before. All of those times I had wondered if I should change banks because I know other bankers and they always wanted my business and told me about the possible nightmares. I never changed banks. Every time the change happen with no problems and the same great customer service remained the same. So I was not concerned when Cadence went to Huntington, after all most of the same great people are still there. I have a total of eleven accounts at this bank one personal and ten business accounts. My two sisters also have accounts and they are also my business partners along with my mother. I'm only saying these to let you know it is a sizable amount of money that could be moved . A few years ago we were ask to go to a "Positive Pay" on our business accounts to prevent Bank Fraud and we did. It was a learning curve for us and we did it and when we had questions it was fairly easy to get answers even if it was not at the local branch, but it worked well. We had to show how each check was printed out, the amount, payee, ect. this was sent on an Excel Program worked great. We still have to do this but we have to enter it in MANUALLY. Looks like we have went back ten years in time there! The way my Bookkeeper go the bank statements had to change. It is now a little more cumbersome although not a lot but some. One of my businesses is in a town 35 miles a way and it uses Huntington same great tellers work there, but now on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday deposits they may not be ready for pickup until Tuesday. Its not about the money not going into the account timely its about our bookkeeping work we need to get done. This used to never be a problem. NOTE: SAME GREAT PEOPLE! THE ONLY CHANGE WAS THE NAME! Huntington is the Problem ! Know lets talk about my CD. I got a letter that in a few days the rate was going down to 1.5% with a 5 day grace period, no further notice and then automatically renewed. I get it! You guesses are telling me, this is my responsibility, we don't care if the mail is late or lost and we are now to big to give you a call, put it in the notification or whatever. It doesn't matter there are other banks in this town that have much better CD rates. That money will be moved. that is a NO-BRAINER. I know I could go on-line national brokers and banks and get better rates but the communities where I live ang work is where I want to do business and will always. I know you may think I'm rambling. I will probably never totally change banks because of ACHs already setup and I don't like change. I don't consider banking as an important part of my business . My business is serving my customers and I am a customer of your bank. A business should be making things better not making thinks more cumbersome. Who knows now that I'm moving my CD, I may find a new banking friend, and partner. I'm not using words as just pretty words. My journey with this bank began with Joe Williams know retired. He was my first loan officer 42 yrs ago and became pres. American State Bank, then changed names Bank Corp South, then Cadence. Through all these changes it always had that small home town feel. Hope we don't lose that. I know I have dated myself and probably shouldn't even be concerned. I may retire soon I don't know .
