Made every effort not to pay for claims and gave a lot of excuses. Also took forever to resolve issues, so if something important like a heater/AC breaks you will probably be paying out of pocket anyway. I recommend if they say that your claim "isn't covered" then ask to have a technician come out anyway. You might have to pay out of pocket but every time I did it, it ended up being a covered issue that they were trying to pretend was something else. I'm switching to a different company at the end of my term because they are infuriating.

Worries only with this insurance
I have a 1 year contract with them. My dishwasher is not washing and the dishes come out dirty. I called to place a claim and they are asking me to pay the cost of the dishwasher plus installation and hauling. They want to just pay $75 for it. So please do not choose this insurance if your appliances are older as they pay only the cash value of the appliance. Also no one came to check/repair the dishwasher. I gave 2 stars because the customer services representatives were warm. I cannot call or talk to anyone to dispute. This was a shocking experience for me as the contract clause for this is questionable and biased.

Took Over Two Months for a Refund
I purchased a home warranty from Home Service Club for $705.35. After downloading the contract and reading the details of what was covered, I figured out that the yearly payout maximums were well below what I would have expected, so I immediately cancelled the coverage using their web-site. After not receiving any email confirmation or ETA of the refund, I called their customer service number (800-601-1009), but could not get through and had to leave a message. I did not receive a call back until several days later, and I was told that I would not receive my refund for 30 to 45 BUSINESS (not calendar) days, excluding any holidays. This was completely unacceptable given that the funds were immediately removed from my account at the time of purchase. I tried to escalate the issue, but was again given a hard no. I FINALLY received my refund after OVER two full months, and I truly believe I would not have received my money had I not disputed the charges with my bank and filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. HSC kept citing COVID as the reason for the delay, but that is a ridiculous excuse for something so simple that should be automated. My guess is that they are having cash flow problems and didn’t want to let go of it. Steer clear of this company.

They don't cover what they say they do
They don't cover what they say they do. Here's the latest language they sent to try to back up their scam. Mind you I've asked for the contact several times and they cut and pasted this into an email, refusing to send the contact
D. COVERED ITEMS
This Agreement provides coverage only for those items specifically listed as being covered on your Coverage Summary Page (which is attached and included as part of this Agreement) and excludes all other breakdowns and/or items. HSC agrees to repair or replace those specific items if they become inoperative during the term of this Agreement due to mechanical failure caused by NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, and are subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement.
This Agreement covers only mechanical failures relating to the mechanical parts and components of those domestic-grade items that were in the home and in proper and safe operating condition and permanently installed and located within the perimeter of the main foundation of the home on the Agreement effective date. “Mechanical failure” occurs when a covered item becomes inoperable and unable to perform its designated function, subject to the limitations and conditions set forth herein. Examples of not covered: conditions that existed prior to Agreement effective date; lack of routine care and maintenance; misuse; and rust and/or corrosion. “Domestic-grade” items are those that were manufactured and marketed solely for installation and use in a residential family dwelling. The covered item will be deemed to have been in “proper operating condition” on the Agreement effective date if it was correctly located within the home, was fully connected, was capable of successfully performing all operations commensurate with the manufacturer’s original design intention, and did not pose any hazard to life or property. Determination of the operating condition as of Agreement effective date, and the nature of any failure, will be made by HSC based upon our professional opinion, reflecting but not limited to, diagnosis made by our Authorized Service Contractors or trained direct employees. The items listed in Section D as “Examples of not covered” items are not meant to be all-inclusive and are provided for illustration purposes only. They do not limit our right to decline coverage for items not specifically mentioned and should not in any way be deemed an expansion of Covered Items.

they never covered my gas dryer -- they…
they never covered my gas dryer -- they sent me three different appliance contractors and each time I spoke with the contractor, they said they did not service home warranties. Requested a refund and told it will take 30 to 45 days to process...total ripoff

This company is a scam
This company is a scam. The first time we tried to put a claim in was for our oven. They didn’t cover it because it wasn’t tested during the inspection. Then the tub drains slow and so we had someone come out today. Paid the $95 deductible just for them to try to say that it won’t be covered because there was rust. Well if there was rust, it wasn’t when we owned the damn home!! We just bought the house 1/17/2020.
Our blower went out about a week ago. We have no heat and the weather has been getting pretty cold. We are still waiting for some action to be taken. I don’t trust them. DO NOT use this company. Fraudulent as all hell!

Frauds
In my opinion, they’re a fraudulent company. They take your money and provide no service. I’m genuinely surprised there isn’t a Civil Lawsuit against them. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

I have used Home Service Club in three…
I have used Home Service Club in three different houses already in two different states. They were equally effective both times. I'm considering getting my property in a third state covered. The very best there is!
