I’ve been a customer of The Home Service Club (HSC) since 2019, paying annual premiums in good faith. Over the years, I’ve only filed three claims. Unfortunately, my third claim was the straw that broke the camel’s back. After my HVAC system failed in May 2025, HSC showed their true colors—denying my repair claim. The compressor in my HVAC unit stopped working. I have had an independent HVAC maintenance plan since 2015 and my system is serviced twice a year (winter/summer). Keep in mind, HSC does not provide maintenance service, just repair. 5-Reasons WHY you should THINK TWICE before buying a Home Service Club (HSC) Home Warranty: 1. They’ll look for ANY excuse to deny a major claim, even when you follow the contract. My HVAC compressor went out. They did not claim that my unit wasn’t maintained, just that it was - “poorly maintained.” 2. Appeals are a joke—they ignored my 4-years worth of maintenance plan contract receipts as evidence of regular maintenance. 3. Wasted time and stress: Multiple technician visits, weeks of back-and-forth with case managers, only to be left with a broken HVAC system in July. 4. When you need them most - they are NOT there for you! I spent part of my recovery from surgery without a working HVAC system. 5. Save yourself the headache and just put money aside in a home repair savings fund instead.

We switched from Total Protect due to a good sales pitch from someone at Home Service Club. The first time we had an issue 5 months into the contract and our claim was denied. The technician said it was normal wear and tare on our 1995 furnace and it needed to be replaced. HSC denied our claim and we are out 4100.00 for a new furnace. What makes matters worse is they will not allow me to cancel my policy. Lots or runaround. Was promised a US based customer service call center and I have yet to speak to someone I can clearly understand that can clearly understand me. I do not recommend this company.

They started off right with a quick fix of a simple plumbing issue but when things got more serious & I needed a garbage disposal replacement, they were a complete nightmare. After 3 weeks & multiple calls to get updates with nothing the job finally got done. It was supposedly in a "rush" status. What a joke! Canceled weeks later after install for them to charge back everything done in the last year of their coverage taking it all out of my refunded pro-ration of costs for 5 years. They left me just over half with only 14 months of use. Steer clear of them regardless of ratings. Their coverage is weak & their service & timing is one of the worst I have seen industry wide. Take it from someone in real estate who has delt with many different companies over the years. Don't waste your money!

Made every effort not to pay for claims and gave a lot of excuses. Also took forever to resolve issues, so if something important like a heater/AC breaks you will probably be paying out of pocket anyway. I recommend if they say that your claim "isn't covered" then ask to have a technician come out anyway. You might have to pay out of pocket but every time I did it, it ended up being a covered issue that they were trying to pretend was something else. I'm switching to a different company at the end of my term because they are infuriating.

I have a 1 year contract with them. My dishwasher is not washing and the dishes come out dirty. I called to place a claim and they are asking me to pay the cost of the dishwasher plus installation and hauling. They want to just pay $75 for it. So please do not choose this insurance if your appliances are older as they pay only the cash value of the appliance. Also no one came to check/repair the dishwasher. I gave 2 stars because the customer services representatives were warm. I cannot call or talk to anyone to dispute. This was a shocking experience for me as the contract clause for this is questionable and biased.

My dryer stopped working and it took over 4 weeks to arrange for an appointment [I have kept track of all the dates]. When HSC arranged for an appliance company, they had no relationship with that company so I was charged with the final bill of over 100$. When I requested to speak with someone in the cancellation department, my account was terminated without notice and without email confirmation. Call backs from managers take 72h. Maybe it's a different service in the Seattle area. I do not recommend them.
