The did my background check for a new job. They made ME the background investigator. Telling me my background was incomplete until I provided w2's, proof of employers. Years ago, they had false information on my account from previous companies too! EMPLOYERS!!! STOP using this service! Read everyone's complaint! To elaborate on providing employer docs. Hireright is provided (by candidate) with employer Name, Address, Phone Number, and Time employed. Their background investigators obviously do not verify with the employer but rather just ask the candidate for docs that potentially could be manipulated. This alone shows laziness in their process, integrity to their clients, and ability to trust. Even though OTHER background checks have had ZERO problems verifying my past employers. Hireright is known by the trucking industry to have short vague misleading information from employers that most times is false with zero ability for the person named on the report to have it removed or corrected. They LOVE to "say" they will review complaints or correct errors but I have been in the trucking industry for 15 years and never have been able to have anything corrected. They are a one way only report generator. Again, check the thousands of reviews. Attorneys even advertise on google they go after hireright. They can defend their dictating, communist company all they want. REAL people that have REAL reviews about how they are. Do not be mislead by them. Also, apparently they completed my background and reported it to the employer already but have not provided me with anything other than an email that states exactly: "we're working to complete your background verification. We need additional documentation from you to complete this process." But this was almost a week after they gave the employer information. So basically they are providing half done, not correct backgrounds. hmmmm.... BAD COMPANY!

I manage a US company from the UK, with no premises in the US, other than the temporary campuses we use in the summer to welcome young, foreign students to the US for two weeks - effectively, an export business for the US. I need to get my staff background checked and HireRight allowed me to do this, prior to and subject to their credentialling process. I failed this for no explicable reason, yet they pursued me for over $600 for the reports they allowed me to run, but refused to give me access to them. I know of no other company who can charge for a service, not provide the service, yet claim the invoice. Sharp practise does not even get near describing this. I am now using CheckR who, quite the opposite, are so much better and easier to work with, and, guess what, they produce reports when I pay for them! I would fight them but I do not know how consumer law works in the US - I know that in the UK, this would not happen! The lawyers would be the only winners. If anyone from the company reads this, make sure it is very clear when anyone opens an account that you will not supply your service, though you will charge for it if credentialling is refused...be transparent from the outset.

I’m still waiting for my report after 3 weeks. It’s stagnant at 83%. I called, and could barely understand her. She said something about county court. I have no court records. I doubt they even contacted anyone. They were no help. I’m going downtown to get proof of clear criminal report myself. I’m a substitute teacher. I clearly have a clean record. My start date of this side job as a crisis counselor is now delayed multiple times because this company can’t do its job. 8/14/23 Update: My info from this report was found on a dark web site. I have monitoring, and got an alert. Of course. This company is dirty scammers that steal identities.

Incompetent I don’t know anything about looking up someone and in a half hour on the internet I found what they couldn’t find. Took over an hour to finally get them to give me customer service number and then 2 hours to call me back only to try to talk to a lady who couldn’t speak English well enough for me to understand anything she said. They apparently can’t read either because the information they were asking for was on the first document I uploaded that they had asked for. What a joke!!!

I was working with another company that hired hireright to run a background check on me. They kept asking for the same documents, and even when I sent them, they did not understand that I was sending them what they had asked for. And then they keep asking for contacts at prior companies, though those companies have been bought out and no longer exist. Finallly, they ask for W2, 1099, etc for my own business to prove I have my own company. I do not issue 1099 or W2 to myself. I sent them the company registration information, but they just could not get it through their heads that I had run my company for 17 years!! Most incompetent bunch I've ever knownn

I was offered a job when background was sent to employer they said something on it may result in me not getting hired so the employer retracted my offer I have a a background down through sled every so often cause I carry for security and our church so if something was wrong I wouldn’t get that. I disputed it and she said it would take up to 30 days to get it back I just received a email at 10 tonight saying it was completed but I will have to wait to get them last time they said I would get paperwork was sent out on the 15th I got it on the 28th, also they couldn’t understand English and when I asked for someone that could they said all the US agents were busy. They cost me my job so now I give this place a big fat 0 thanks for nothing

Very slow and unprofessional. They contacted my current employer without my permission after I provided all of the documentation they asked for. They should be sued.

I wish I could put zero stars why pay for a background check if your literally doing all the leg work they are asking for w2s highschool diplomas like what are u finding as a company if I’m providing you all the information?
