PLEASE be aware of Headway's potentially illegal practices. I almost signed up with them in 2023, but did not. It is now 2026 and I recieved a email letting me know I had a client through them. I attempted to contact Headway - there is no number anywhere. However, I know they have phones because I talked with them in person in 2023. I went to their site as a patient and found my entire PsychologyToday page being utilized by their company. The information for me was directed to their company. I was then able to sign in under an account that I didn't even know I had. I then went further and saw they have been in my CAQH account for the past two years. This means that they have been fraudulent in advertising me as one of their providers. It means that any patient who found me through them was redirected to another one of their providers. This means I have paid for Psychology Today for years, and they have benefited from it. This means I have lost patients by them soliciting them illegally. I have only been able to use their chat box and send a "ticket" to them because "they have no contact number." How does a "reputable" large company NOT have a contact number? I have zero clue how to rectify this, but if you have signed up with them, I can tell you 100% they are NOT being honest. They are NOT here to "help" you in any way. They are unethical and have created a "locked down" system that allows them to continue being unethical. Luckily, my practice has grown to overflowing on my own over the years - certainly NOT because of PsychologyToday or any help from Headway. DO NOT FALL FOR WHATEVER IT IS THEY ARE TELLING YOU! If you do, or if you have, make sure you have an actual contact name and number, and make sure you document every interaction you have with them. You will need it.

I would put zero stars if it would let me, the psychiatrist we met with was wonderful. I really liked her a lot. However, I was deeply disappointed to wake up after working night shift to an email telling me my daughter had an appointment the next day, which I never made or consented to you. As soon as I read the email, I rescheduled it for when I was not on Night Shift so that my daughter could attend. Two days later I received an email telling me I was charged a $75 cancellation fee. I reached out to headway via their online chat system (because there is no customer service phone number; you cannot speak to somebody). They refused to help me, they told me if I wanted to reach out to the provider that would be the only way to possibly get a refund, but that they would not help me in any way shape or form. They were not helpful, if anything, they were rude and unprofessional. I find this company to be unethical, and borderline falling within the realm of theft. They even confirmed they recognized I did not make the appointment but because I did not cancel within 24 hours, I canceled 34 minutes out of that window, that was their policy and I had to deal with it. Again the provider was wonderful, but I will never use this platform for anything again and highly recommend you don’t either.

Horrible customer service. My therapist switched from a different platform and I wanted to continue care with her as I have been with her for 2 years. I have been trying for over 3 weeks to schedule an appointment with her due to a family tragedy. Right when I need to speak with her the most, I can't because of this horrible customer service and platform. I do NOT recommend this to anyone.

I am a Headway provider and have had an extremely negative experience. They pressure me constantly to refer other clinicians, but are completely unresponsive to my concerns and questions, providing only lip service about how they would like to be helpful. I spent over an hour trying to get a client set up in their system and verify benefits, and in the end, I was unable to do so - even though the client provided sufficient verification of coverage. There is literally no one and no way for us to speak to a human when we have an issue or problem with the platform and this impacts the amount and quality of care we are able to provide.

my providers is absolutely fantastic. i believe the company themselves are guilty of questionable billing practices. don't bill me prior to billing my insurance. these systems are not correct or update and cause stress for patients when you surprise bill their already met deductible because someone couldn't make a phone call or simply wait to bill me until my insurance processes the claim. customer services is not helpful, bc what are they going to do.

If you need customer service or someone to ask a question to, DO NOT USE THIS APP. They are terrible! They have overcharged me 6 times and refuse to help, I finally contacted my insurance and they were able to fix so I let them know. Next day they charged me an additionally amount back pay from last year!!!!! Terrible company, no morals. Hope it fails.

Last year, I reached out to Headway about getting credentialed with United Healthcare. After the first customer service rep no-showed our appointment, the second rep I was connected with let me know that they could definitely help, I would be credentialed soon, they have all these great perks, etc etc. I went ahead and joined Headway. My account reflected that my application to United Healthcare had been submitted. I waited month after month. My rep reached out to let me know that my account would be closed if I didn't start seeing clients on their platform, so I moved my United Healthcare clients to Headway while I waited. After five months had passed, I called United to ask about the status of my application. The agent I spoke with let me know that an application had not been submitted. I reached out to my Headway customer service rep, who would text me with long, emoji-laden copy & paste texts every week about things like giving her my password to Psych Today so she could "optimize" my account, about this. She never responded. I then went to the chat feature on their website as they do not have a phone number. The customer service rep through chat confirmed that even though Headway said they applied on my behalf, they actually had me on an internal waiting list. An application was never submitted. So much of my time was wasted by this company. Without a doubt, I should have credentialed on my own. It would have been easier and faster.

Headway told me that my insurance, Magellan, no longer offers mental health benefits and so I stopped seeing my provider. I called Magellan and they said that is incorrect and that they still provide mental health benefits until April (few months away) and they confirmed that my provider is in network. Headway gave me inaccurate information and I stopped seeing my provider because of it. I am incredibly frustrated because I really liked that provider and it all was Headway's fault. I wonder how many other people had the same experience and didn't get care because Headway was telling people the wrong information. I wouldn't recommend headway to any patient or therapist for giving out inaccurate information.
